My 100th class milestone.
Bob R.

Burn your fat...FAST. Best cardio workout you'll find in the Berkeley area. High energy and music driven. Excellent instructors who push us. Motivational. Clean and modern environment. Lots of class timed. On par with FLYWHEEL (RIP) - for those who embrace RPM and Power metrics.

The workouts are challenging but empowering, and the instructors do an amazing job of pushing you while still making it fun. The playlists are great, the coaching is encouraging, and the atmosphere is always uplifting. But the best part is the community. The riders and staff create such a supportive, inclusive environment that it feels like more than just a workout--it feels like a place where people show up for each other. I always leave class feeling stronger, happier, and grateful to be part of it.

I love this studio, have been consistently attending since Jan 2025. Hours for classes for great for before or after work, I especially loved the theme classes, but even non themed class, each instructor has a variety of music they will play. I was hooked after my class because of the staff and instructors that made a challenging activity attainable. I also enjoy the celebrations of milestones. Other amenities included are shoes you can rent, lockers, bathroom fully stocked, showers, refillable water station.

I've been going to Cyclebar Berkeley now since May 2024. As someone who rarely worked out, I became absolutely hooked. My health and body has transformed. I've formed a community of great people at the studio. They notice when you don't show up for awhile and make an effort to remember your name. I'm so grateful to be part of this community. As a woman of color, I often feel out of place at fitness studios. But many of the instructors are women of color and the staff are so nice and accommodating. The studio is always clean and has what I need to have an amazing workout. The classes are very fun and there are a diverse range of music tastes. My favorite classes to go to are with Zakiyyah and Nikki (love me some hiphop and occasional afrobeats). They will even play a song that you like if you ask ahead of time. My apple watch tells me I burn about 500 calories each time, and I definitely feel like I do. It kicks my butt every time but I can't get enough. The studio is always doing new things to keep riders engaged with themed rides and events. 10/10 experience

I've only done one other cycling class before and a friend asked to do one while we were visiting town. We searched online and found CYCLEBAR... so glad we did. They were communicative before the class, did a great orientation, adjusted the seats on the bike, and the coach, Bri, had a great playlist. It was an overall great experience and I'm now considering joining the one close to where I live. Check them out.

Ive been to this location a couple of times. The staff here are incredibly helpful and they make you feel welcomed. The first ride is free. I happened to come back during their ride fest and so glad I did. If you are new they walk you through everything so get there early. I did a hip hop class and the playlist was so good. I love love love that they have seat cushions although the seat is still a little uncomfortable and thats what would usually deter me it helps. The room is dark so its less intimidating and you can still go at your own pace. An overall great workout. I recommend trying this place out.

Tried my first CycleBar class today! Absolutely love the energy and the community. I had the opportunity to try my first class for free and purchased an additional 5 classes for 79.99. There's plenty of parking in the surrounding area and it's right across the Trader Joe's. You can kill two birds with one stone!

Really great first experience- enjoyed the workout! The instructor said that folks can go at their own intensity- which I think makes it a bit easier for folks to meet them where they're at. For this particular class, there was no leaderboard and I enjoyed the non-competitive nature of this class. The chilled cool towels are a nice touch at the end! Feels refreshing after a hard ride. Would look forward to coming back.

Ask the Community - CYCLEBAR

Are you offering outdoor classes right now?

Since October 2021 I have not seen any outdoor classes. Only indoors. You can check to see how full the room will be when you reserve a cycle. Most don't wear masks in class, even with Omicron, so I choose only the lesser attended classes.

How are they handling covid-19?

When I went recently, no one is wearing masks. Not bad when only 10 are in the class. I wear my mask when the class has 25 people sweating, huffing, puffing in a small room.… Read more

With columns blocking the view + overcrowded space, getting a decent spot can feel competitive, which is a space issue that contributes to increasing tension between members. Lately, some of the messaging around space feels like it's putting the burden on clients, which can come off as frustrating or unintentionally shaming. I get that it's a tough room to manage--but there are better ways to handle it. The minute a business starts treating its clientele as gnats or 'entitled problems', is the moment that the heart of the business begins to weaken. Simple fixes like rotating rows each song, clearer spacing markers on the floor, or more instructor movement (use all mirrors!) could make a big difference. Even having a place up front just for newbies could be a positive way to address this vs making clients feel blamed for environmental and system barriers. There's still a lot to love here--I just hope the studio can hold onto the supportive, growth-oriented culture it's known for.

I've been with them for about a year now, and I love that there are some REALLY elite athletes; people that compete nationally or even have kettlebell world record, but they're all very kind and relatable. It's not that "you have to worship the top performer" attitude that some gyms have with their top athlete. Patrick has really changed the way I lift, and I've improved all my lifts by a significant margin after coming to GRCF. My clean and jerk went up about 90lbs, snatch up ~50lbs, and squat ~60lbs. My technique has improved greatly, and Patrick has really tailored the coaching experience to my exact body proportions instead of giving me a "one size fits all" experience. I've seen lots of members come in and start from scratch, and others come in with a significant background but there's something for everyone at GRCF. There's even strong man training and a fun community of people who are interested in all sorts of things. If you want to do a race, someone will do it with you! But omg I am too old for the misleading and covert sales attempts First of all, if having you hold a little machine with metal handles was a legit way to measure your physical fitness or cardio strength or lean muscle vs fat, I think on many decades of doctor visits I would have encountered it! This felt like 100 percent an attempt to leverage people's trust in technology and fear of the wellness industries standards too make me buy more services from this gym. Did I mention I'm too old to have a young man and his machine tell me about my body and health goals? They told me when I joined i would get a free personal training session that would tell me how to use machines ( i expressed repeatedly that i don't need help with goal setting, good on that, thanks!) Instead the supposed personal training session was an elaborate sales pitch. Did I mention I'm too old? The trainer had me do some exercises and I guess evaluated something but to get any details on how to use the machines, which I stated many many times was my only reason for the session , I was invited to give up more of my money and time. Luckily, I'm old, so all I wasted was about 3o minutes instead of also spending extra money or having random people with pseudo scientific machines and full in the blank worksheets make me doubt myself and my body. I'll keep coming bc working out feels good and makes me feel healthy but I'm aware I'm walking into an attempted scam every time I enter.
