Cycle Visions Custom Harley Davidson Parts and Service
Mick M.

This is by far the best HD shop in San Diego. Friendly knowledgeable staff and first rate mechanics to create the bike of your dreams. I found a stock 2005 Softail that needed some love and decided on cycle visions owner Randy, parts guru Jesus, and motor maniac Hughey to get it done. They didn't disappoint. We added custom black powder coated lowers, a new 21" C&C wheel with dual 13" rotors and calipers, and finished it off with new black levers, hidden turn signals, and steel braided line. 30 days later I was back for direct gear drive replacing my cam chains which were due to HD cam chain tensioner shoes being an issue since 1999 until Harley updated to hydraulic cam chain tensioners in 2006 and 2007. I decided the gear drive was the way I wanted to go. Less parts, less headache in the long run, and more torque. We replaced the oil pump and added new 5:1 cams that light up around 2,500 RPM since we were already in there. While we were doing engine work, we sent out the fuel tank and fenders for new paint and created a whole new machine from the bottom up. The pictures speak for themselves. I'm beyond stoked with the results. I cant say enough about how well Randy and his crew treat their customers and the quality of work they perform. They are exceptional from start to finish.

Top notch customer service!…read more Bryce was awesome. He helped me with my tire purchase/service and afterwards saw me browsing gear. He was very in depth with his explanation of different ratings on each types of gear. You can tell he's very experienced with riding. I'm not sure if he's a manager, but if not, he needs a promotion Miguel at the front was outstanding as well. After my payment, he researched an oil filter for my bike. He had to do a little extra digging but found a good value for my KLR. Great customer skills They both went out of their way to make sure my questions were answered thoroughly about my products and services before purchase. I really appreciated their time. Highly recommend Cycle Gear!

After searching online first I drove down to this location although I'm 10 min away from San Marcos location because they had a bigger selection. I had a helmet in mind but once I got to the store I saw sooooo many other options. Liv was extremely knowledgeable about fit and helmet integrity which heavily influenced my purchase. Because my size was not in stock I was provided the option to have my helmet shipped to my home at no additional charge. It arrived within a week. The store also offers a wide selection of almost every riding product for all types of riders. I understand the challenge to staff for varying customer volume but I docked 1 star due to a long wait (I wasn't even acknowledged for at least 20 min) especially after coming from San Marcos. Just give yourself time if you will need personal assistance.

What makes them the best is their attentive staff. Jeff, their primary sales person, always greets everyone he sees with sincerity and a smile making all whom enter feel welcome without being overbearing. Todd at parts seems to have eyes behind his head and is quick to acknowledge you if you're hovering around the parts counter, ready to assist. Dan at service has a knowledge and experience that comes through as he listens to your needs and he expresses his thanks with a firm handshake, for your business. I believe Issac is the general manager and he will give you his honest opinion even if it may discourage the sale of a bike, part or service. All of the staff are passionate about motorcycles and they all ride if not race the brands they represent. The shop isn't as large as other motorcycle dealerships, but it's clean, bright and usually has all the models of Triumphs and Royal Enfields offered. They have a good selection of accessories, clothing and usually seem to have the parts I need in stock and when I do need to order a part, it's there within a week. If not busy, some of the staff will chat bikes and track with you all day, but they usually keep pretty busy. Nicest most sincere dealership I've ever been to.

My first bad review. Avoid the service department here…read more Took my Daytona here awhile back about some start issues and on the phone Daniel convinced me to get the 12k service done as well. Couple weeks later after I drop the bike off I get an angry phone call from Daniel about how "it would've been nice to know that the bike wouldn't start". Guess he forgot that was the main reason I even hit them up. I picked the bike up, rode home, and noticed the fuel tank was wobbling. The rubber tank grommets were missing and I called to see if they had them lying around, I was told that they likely fell out at some point due to dry rotting. An hour later I received the call that they found them, I went back to pick them up and they were fine. Though they still tried to sell me new ones. Cut to now, I found my airbox hose clamps missing as well as the hardware to the butterfly valve trumpets completely loose. Had the screw fallen into the valve my motor would've been shot. The clutch cable failed not long after I had them complete the 12k servicing.

I had just moved to San Diego and read great reviews for a shop down the street but when I go there…read morethey were out of space so I drove home and saw Clairemont on the corner and stopped in. They aren't very friendly like people have said but I'm more concerned with getting my bike tire replaced than pleasantries. I have loved my past cycle shops even when the guys were gruff. It's about the work first and foremost. Cut to a year later and I have found a great shop recommended by co-worker and I ask them why my rear tire only lasted 800 miles of very light commuting? It had metal bands showing! Turns out It was the wrong tire for my bike and was designed for smaller lighter bikes not my bigger touring bike. The load index matters more than you think! I think they sold me what they had on their shelf. I suppose its on me to know my load index but I can now say my new shop would make sure I got the correct tire because they are purist they would even go so far to tell me no If I showed up with wrong tire because they care most about doing quality work. Come to think of it I'm pretty sure they covered their butt's when they sold it to me saying something like "This is a sport tire and wont last as long", NO this tire is not rated for my bike and is a very bad idea. Prices were fair and work was done in reasonable time. So not a bad shop, but I want something more. And to reviews that say they have a great inventory, very suspicious those are real. They have NO inventory at all I remember like 10 tires on the wall, that should have been a warning.

Brent kept us informed, explained everything clearly, and was always honest and straightforward. He is someone you can truly trust. He also went above and beyond to help keep the cost reasonable. He only charges for the time he actually spends working on the bike, helped source parts from overseas, and even arranged a used cylinder head to help keep the repair cost down. He wasn't just trying to get the job done -- he genuinely looked for the best solution for us. His knowledge, workmanship, honesty, communication, and dedication are exceptional. It's rare to find a mechanic who combines this level of skill with such integrity and genuine care for his customers. If you're looking for a mechanic you can truly trust with your bike, I highly recommend Brent. We feel very fortunate to have found him. Five stars without hesitation!

I had worked with him prior to get some parts on order including a rejetting kit, sprockets and a new chain (gave $40 deposit). My exhaust was loose, something I didn't notice due to my loud after market exhaust put on by a previous owner. This was quickly diagnosed and fixed by Wide Open Moto. Bike was ready to go, rode it around for a bit and flooded the carb due to the wrong size needle being installed. Brent was generous and had it towed back for free to his shop. Subsequently the bike rode great that following Monday when I picked it back up. I'd recommend Brent and Wide Open Moto for your bike. Unexpected things can happen and they worked on the bike again for free after re-diagnosing. He also was quick to give me back my deposit after I realized it was still in holding. A plus is that he is very responsive and easy to get in touch with. I would personally give 5 stars if I was given a heads up on what type of miscellaneous repairs were going to be done. I had a kickstand safety switch and oil change done without my knowledge at the time. Thank you, Brent. You've got my business going forward.
