I live in Palmdale, 3hrs North of SD. While visiting family I stopped by Motozone to look at these E-motos my son really wanted for Christmas. Ivan and Steven were beyond helpful answering my questions of safety and performance. With their help I ended up purchasing a Mantis X in the box for a black Friday deal, saving almost $1k. Come Christmas Day my son opened the box and we easily assembled the bike. He was so excited! Then the battery wouldn't charge. Poor guy spent Christmas sitting on the bike imaging the ride. After research it appeared the battery level got too low where it needed to be "woken up" before the charger could recognize it. 12/26 I contacted Steven and spoke to him and Ivan about what to do. Because I was returning to SD to visit again they asked me to stop by the shop to replace the battery with one they had on the floor model. The problem is they were closed that Monday I would be there. Ivan came to the store to open up for me so we could exchange the battery. They knew how far I was traveling and made everything work to get my kids bike running. Super thankful to Ivan and Steven and all their help with this process. I will definitely be a return customer! Run away from this place! They had my fiancé's bike for over 2 months. He had to check in with them regularly. They never gave him updates. When he called they were very evasive about what they were doing. He had a bad feeling about it. He went to pick it up today. The employees were rude and unprofessional. The bike was in shambles. They lost the bolts and other parts. They actually tried to put the wrong bolt on the motorcycle, and my fiancé had to stop them. His motorcycle is in worse shape than when he brought it in. These people are dodgy. My fiancé was super nice to start with until he had enough. He finally lost his patience, and let them have it. If I could give a -5 stars, I would do so. read more

I've only gone to them for tire installs. They're alright but could use some social/communication skills. For example, they had a hard time getting the tire to seat on the rim and they just kept telling me this like they were going to give up and/or that I should just take my bike back with this bubble in the tire. They finally got it but should've done without the back and forth dramatizing of the install. haha Like this is your job. You said you could do it. I paid you, do it or find someone who can. They also are just kind of rude with questions and have an air of immediate impatience with very reasonable questions. Their prices are not great. Again, I only go here for convenience and only for jobs I cannot do myself due to lack of expensive speciality tools, or for misc. parts and lubes that I rather not wait on to arrive via mail. read more

I was recommended by fellow rider to come here for a simple oil leak job. They told me to drop off the bike and go. They didn't say when they were gonna call me, or look at it. The mechanic called me the next afternoon to let me know what was wrong (which I knew cuz it was kinda my fault) and he just shamed me for doing "such a terrible job" haha. And then wanted to hang up after telling me hell fix it, without telling me how much or how long, I had to ask and go over the charges. He definitely talked to me like I didn't know anything and I was dumb. When he asked about the oil I had used he questioned me SEVERAL times and wouldn't believe me cuz I'm guessing he wanted me up sell me on something else. When I went to pick it up the person at the desk was nice and friendly, he pretty much saved the whole experience, and he explained other things about my bike. We were on the second leg of an across two countries and back road trip. Anchorage thru Candada and back across the states. While in San Diego a tire inspection showed more wear than we liked. We discovered the wear on a Sunday and Yelped up some options. Motozone was open on Monday and we were there when they opened thier doors. The staff was solid... We ran Dunlop Road Smart 2's and even tho the current catolog had none.... Ivan found a matching tire and had it in less than 24 hrs. We ride a Ducati Multi Strada with a very complex electronic suspension and a single sided swing arm with rather unique torque issues. Motozone was awesome in handling our bike. We waited while the work was done and this is a solid shop. We wittnessed their interaction with customers and would highly recommend them. Ride safe and look thru your turns.....:-) read more

MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE WORK FOR LOOSE BOLTS/NUTS IF YOU HAVE WORK DONE HERE!!! I feel bad writing this review for this shop, it is so close to home.. making it convenient to come to... but unfortunately I will not be bringing my bike here for service anymore. I brought my 2012 gixxer 750 for service because I was having starting issues. I dropped off my bike and later was called and told the issue. I agreed to the work and the part would take about a week for it to be derived to the shop, but the clutch lever switch (sensor) could be bypassed until the part came in and then replaced so i was told i could pick up my bike. When I arrived I signed the Ro and paid for the part and my bike was pulled up, so far everything was good, until i get on my bike to ride off and my clutch lever is jiggling all over the place because the perch was not tightened.. the good thing is that this happened in the parking lot and Ivan brought out his ratchet and tightened it for me before i left.... okay i let this go thinking its a minor mistake.. its fine. A week later my part came in and i brought my bike so the switch could be replaced, I also had tires i wanted to be replaced so i asked them to mount and balance the tires for me since the bike would be in their shop. After the work was done i picked up my bike, everything looked good and i was a happy camper.. i rode around town all day just breaking in my new tires and a few trips on the freeway. The next day as I'm letting my bike warm up I'm doing a walk around and noticed the axle nut of the front tire is backed up all the way to the end of the threads.. i could turn it with my fingers... and a sudden wave of fear ran through my whole body because i have no idea of this means my front tire could of just popped off on my while I'm riding around in the freeway! the clutch lever I thought was a minor thing but now my front wheel? who the hell is doing the work on the bikes and where did he get his qualifications? don't the nuts have to be torqued down? i brought the bike back to the shop, showed Ivan the problem, he quickly took it back and i heard the torque guns go off a few times, they checked both front and rear tires, but I'm still left with a doubt and am a bit afraid of riding my bike. Sorry but i will not have my biked touched at this place ever again, unless they have a new technician that knows what he's doing, i will only use this place to buy parts if I'm too lazy to ride down to cycle gear. read more

Wow, where do I start. I've services 2 bikes here in the past, Ivan actually reminded me since it's been about 6 years so this review is long overdue. I've services a 2005 Suzuki GS500 because it's hard carb issues and a 2006 Honda CBR1000RR for its full service @25K miles. Both times Ivan and staff were very thorough with explaining the issues both bikes had and what causes them...etc. They never made it seem like in a dumb consumer, these guys have your best interest at heart. The prices are very fair comparing to other shops, which are another review altogether however this review is for the awesome and exemplary service Motorzone does. I always appreciate small business & especially when they are doing a phenomenal job at what they do. These guys breath, live and eat motorcycles, it's in their blood. On a serious note, come here for any motorcycle needs, whether it's 2 or 4 stroke, they service vespas as well. read more

I went in today after visting another bike shop on El Cajon Blvd that didn't even greet me, ask me if I needed help, or say goodbye when I walked out the door... and they were great. Steve chatted with me about helmets, my old used bike I just bought, and offered to check out the clutch and rear brake needing adjusting, which I'll take him up on later this week. These guys are the best!! Honest work for a very fair price. I bought a Buddy 150 CC Scooter from a friend that hadn't been ridden in four or more years. It was in great shape but totally gummed up from sitting so long. I dealt with Drazen, one of the mechanics. He was GREAT! He took the bike under his wing almost as a personal project. He charged me minimal hours in comparison to how much time he put into the bike. I had to bring it back a few times due to parts being ordered but he would make sure it ran the best with the lack of (or damaged) parts that were in the engine at the time. I was able to ride the scooter everywhere while I waited for parts to arrive from Taiwan. In the end, now, I have a screaming scooter that runs like a top! Thanks Drazen and Rick! Motozone also sells some nice bikes, helmets, jackets and street riding gear. Not too many scooters except for a couple of big ones. All my future scooter business goes to you guys! I think when the time comes to upgrade to a real motorcycle, I will definitely give these guys first shot. I recommend you do too! read more

HIGHLY recommend!! Called because I had a flat tire on my moped. I also needed an oil change and the brakes done. When I called, the man on the phone was extremely professional and patient and gave me a quote on all the work I needed done. The owner came out to pick up the moped from my location the SAME DAY, and had all the work done within a few hours!! I went back to pick up the moped, and the amount was less than what I was quoted on the phone!! After leaving, extremely satisfied, I had stopped at a gas station to fill up. I accidentally locked the keys in the seat of the moped and was not able to get them out. I called a locksmith who quoted me $75 to get inside. I called Motozone and spoke with the owner to see if he knew a way to get the seat open. He was so helpful over the phone, and even came to my location to open the seat for me!!! If you ever need any work done on your motorcycle or moped, I would highly recommend coming to Motozone!! Everyone I spoke with was so professional, knew exactly what they were talking about, and went above and beyond to help me out. read more

I had just purchased a 2006 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado from an auto auction (of all places) in Otay, San Diego. The bike had to be jumped to start and the auction used a machine and connected it to the starter. Rode the bike home (20 minute ride). I tried to ride it again about 3 hours later and it wouldn't start! Of course, panic started to set in.... Remaining calm (and having experience with motorcycles as I also own a Ducati Dark Monster 750), I went online and started extensively searching to isolate problems. After a lot of searching, I was CONFIDENT that the bike had a bad electronic fuel pump! CONFIDENT! I searched around on Yelp to find a shop nearby and came across Motozone. After reading about a $20 towing service to pick up my bike (within a certain distance which fortunately I was), I called Motozone and spoke with Ivan the owner. He came to my house the next morning (Thursday) and immediately tried to start it. He was confident that it wasn't a bad starter and it wasn't a bad fuel pump. He thought it was just a bad battery. Rather than wasting his time on taking a trip to my house with his trailer, I had him take the bike back to his shop. In short, the real problem was simply bad gasoline from sitting so long!!! Not a bad fuel pump, not a bad starter, not a bad battery (it was low however). The mechanic (I keep forgetting his name) could not have been more professional and courteous! An absolute CLASS ACT! They are both honest men with integrity and I couldn't be more pleased and happy to have found them! I wound up needing a set of tires (I knew this) and they are on order. I'm looking to having them installed next week. Ivan, thank you and your partner for fixing my bike and being the honest people you are! Awesome motorcycle shop A lot smaller than FBC, Veys and definitely nothing like cycle gear... I've had rash work on my motorcycle he's done basic service as well as variety of other thing and I have to say They do Grate work. they're always busy but they work fast. Pricing is good. I got new set of Bridgestone tires mounted and balanced, chain service as well as suspension adjustment all for around $400 for everything. Pros: Upfront, honest, quick. Cons: Customer service wasn't the best, but it's City Heights. No one is nice in City Heights so that was expected. I bought my Lance Milan for cheap off a friend and there were already problems with the electric starter and I'd have to kick-start it just to get it to turn. One day I kicked too much and the gas line broke. And then nothing worked. So I took it in to get the starter thing replaced and the fuel thing fixed. I took one of the reviewer's advice by not telling them it was my first bike, but I think they figured it out quickly because the first thing they told me was I just needed to replace the battery, rather than charge me a bunch of money getting a new starter. Took my ninja in for a full service. WAY cheaper than sdhm or lee's cycle. I was greeted and was not forced into any trap. Because they are new, i wasnt sure if the quality was good or not. When i got it back, the bike was cleaned, waxed, and everything was running much more smoothly. I have a Honda VTX1300s that is in need of its 12K maintenance. I started calling different service centers to get price quotes and got a pretty decent one from Motozone. I decided to stop in and check them out prior to getting the work done and talked to Gary. He came out to my bike and was willing to answer any questions I had. He was really focused on making sure that I was getting what needed to be done, without doing anything that was not needed. Another reason why I brought the bike in was to show that it had an exhaust leak due to a fall. Gary went back outside, while I was inside ordering parts, and tightened up some of the exhaust bolts and said he'd keep an ear out when I brought it in for the rest of the work. It is nice to find a place that is pretty relaxed and willing to take time with a customer. I have had work done at both Fun Bike Center and House of Motorcycles; and it always seems like I have to wait awhile to even talk to someone in their service department and they are chained to the counter unless your bike is DEFINITELY getting worked on there. Make sure to give them a call when you are looking for work to be done! read more

My friend brought her small ninja 250 in after a small slide. It needed rear brake lever, right rear turn signal and a fairing piece or two replaced. They said it wouldn't be more than two weeks. They never called to update and after almost three weeks we called and they said they said it would be at least another week. I called them to see what we could do to get it faster or to get a real time when it would be available for pickup and they were rude and refused to work with me. The only reason they are getting three stars instead of two or one is because in the end they took $30 or so off the end price and when I brought my own bike, they did alright. I brought my own bike in there for service once and it was fine and fairly quick, but nothing special. read more

Please please please don't go there. They stole our motorcycle :( My bf had an accident and we took it to Motozone because it was close to our place. We decided to not do the repairs because their estimate was like 3 Times the price of the bike itself. He was told that he will get his estimate in 2 or 3 days, (he needed it for the insurance company) They called 2 weeks later. My boyfriend went back there a few times to try to get our motorcycle back and put it in our garage. He was told that it was too late, to come the next day, or it was not good time, the bike was too far in the back to get it now........ They said that they tried to email and call, we had actually 1 email saying that we had to pay almost $2000 for storage fee, or we can just basically offer them our bike and bring the papers to them. We didn't have this money of course so they kept our bike. For sure they are doing this on purpose to keep your belonging. My bf worked very hard to buy us this motorcycle:( it was his dream! This is not fair or right. Please stay away from that store. read more

Came in to get my chain adjusted and they did it in a timely manner. They ended up cleaning the chain and even check the tire pressure on my bike and still charged me the original price for the adjustment. They are very knowledgeable about there bikes and even gave me a tip about mine which I did not know. Very friendly and courteous service.
