Darren is rad. He's a nice, fun guy. He works on bikes like they were his own, and it seems to really bug him when things aren't perfect. He did a victory dance when we finally got my scoot started, and was totally just as excited as I was. Don't let his contract scare you; he just doesn't want to be trashed online unfairly. He didn't "discriminate" against my crappy chinese scooter, and got it up and running again like new. Also, his fees are very reasonable. I am SO happy that I finally found a good scooter mechanic. You'd do good to call him to fix your bike. Just do it! read more

Was on time very professional. Took his time and looked at all options. Very complex situation with fuel and air with an aftermarket setup. He cleaned the carb.. it was having trouble carrying a load. They put the old system back together, and it worked flawlessly, saving me a lot of time. Darren is an honest mechanic who really knows his stuff. He showed up on time and took care of my '96 CBR 900 rr as if it were his own. His prices are very reasonable and he comes to you. No need to load up your bike and take it to the shop, Darren brings the shop to you! My bike had been sitting for a few months without running. The carbs were gummed up so he took them out and pulled the Jets to flush out the blockage. My bike is back to shredding tires!! Thanks Darren read more

I have used Darren for difficult projects on three bikes, two vintage Honda V4s, a 1985 VF700S and a 1986 VF500F, and a newer 2017 Honda Rebel 500. He is perhaps the most knowledgeable vintage bike mechanic I have met. He pulled the carb rack on the 700, cleaned carbs and replaced the rack in one afternoon. Also sorted out the wiring which had been damaged in a crash. Yesterday he performed his usual magic on my Rebel. His charges are very reasonable, he was on time, and in addition to the main project, he added some checks and adjustments during his three hour stay. Earlier, I had taken the Rebel to a local shop for tires, oil change and filters, and radiator flush and refill. After making an appointment I dropped off the bike with a promise of getting it back in three days...19 days later they called to say FINISHED! Mobile work by Darren is a much better option read more

Ducati Monster 1100 Evo, Darren came to my house and helped me get my bike back on the road. Even simple Ducati work can get complicated, Darren showed up on time and was methodical and we got through it. I learned about my bike, it was cheaper and faster than "the big shop" in town and given the choice I'd rather support small business. read more

Called Darren to inquire about his mobile scooter repair services and he fit me in within the same day. Quick service! He knows his stuff! And fairly priced! He also offered great advice on regular maintenance. He will definitely be my go to scooter guy. Would highly recommend! read more

Darren has done a number of projects for me on my 1987 CBR600F hurricane. Bought it after being told it just needed a solenoid, he gave it a look over and realized it had been sitting for years. Didn't stop him from getting it running though! Literally brought my bike back from the grave and when I watched him work, I knew. I was watching a pro! thanks Darren, you da man! read more

I contacted Cyclesuads today because my 1966 Yamaha Trailblazer wouldn't start. Darren was very professional on the phone. He steered me to his website where I filled out a form promising requesting service. Darren arrived promptly that afternoon as scheduled. He spent hours lovingly cleaning the carb and going through everything on my bike. I'm not mechanically inclined so I probably shouldn't have an older bike but Darren was really great about showing me how simple the motor and electrical system are. He went way above and beyond the call of duty for a carb clean. He clearly knows what he's doing and loves his work. I highly recommend him for any mobile motorcycle repair. read more

Darren came out to the house to fix someone else's screw up on my 2003 Yamaha V-Star Classic 1100. Here what I have to say. 1) Darren knows his stuff. 2) He had all the tools he needed with him. 3) Don't be intimidated by Darren's contract. If you think about it, it knocks out those who wants to waste his time. So it's a good thing. That way he can service the good clients. I wish I had the balls to do a contract like that in my business. So, I say, fill out the contract..he solved my problem and I am looking forward to using Darren in the future. Scott O read more

Called up this clown to make an appointment for my motorcycle repair. Spoke to him for about 5-10 minutes about what the motorcycle is doing, blah, blah, blah. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Asked me to go to his "website" and fill out a form, and then he would call me back. We made a tentative appointment over the phone, told me "not to worry" and that he would be there to fix the problem. Well, I went to his website, filled out the form and never heard from him. He didn't show up to the appointment and when I called to find out why, HE SAYS THAT IT WAS ANOTHER PERSON NAMED DARREN. WHAT THE PHUCK? REALLY? Same phone number, same website, same name. CLOWNS, ALL OF THEM. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PATHETIC LOSERS. read more

I can't say enough good things about Darren and his work. After coming back from Afghanistan, my 2000 Honda CBR F4 was in dire need of a carb cleaning. Darren came out to my place with his nephew and had my bike running like new in a few hours. He's extremely professional and great mechanic... he's also reasonably priced. Don't waste your money going to a bike dealer... call Darren! Sadly, I live in Washington DC now and I can't find a mobile bike mechanic that comes close to the services that I got at Cyclesquads. read more

I started looking for scooter repair people right after my scooter quit on me at the gas station I end up having push it back home and would not start or stay started rather so after I got home the next day I started looking for repair shops I even had a couple of them to come out and visit me and told me that they don't fix Chinese scooter when I asked him on the phone before they came out do you fix Chinese scooters they said yes but when it got to mine you said no so my search went on trying to find I'm repairman I knew it was something minor not major but I didn't want to chance it and fix it myself this time so my search went on again I searched for a week and a half calling all different kinds of cycle shops repair shops and to no Prevail can find anyone and then once I got on Yelp I found Darron with cycle Squad so we talked in general about the situation he said that he would meet with me the next day after I finished my forum and sent it in I guess it was repair forum so I filled out the form and just like he said he gave me a call the next morning which was actually once I got through with my search through the San Diego for mechanic a week and a half later I found Darren cycle Squad he came to my residence actually he was there before I was there I had to leave for about 5 minutes and I came back he was there and had already set up his equipment everything and all I did was pull the bike out and he could appreciate that because it was under a covered parking space . So when I initially met him we did the general meet and greet and we start to work pulling the bike apart to get to the carburetor that's all we'll be cleaning and a few other minor adjustments, he started talking about the years of service said he's done everything to a scooter sence bout 10 or 11 yr old needless to say I was impressed and he was really genuine kind of guy so I said to myself, this is atype of guy I can trust someone like myself a man of his word and I did tell him that and he appreciated it so the job took about maybe an hour and a half give or take a little small talk he got there before 11 when he say he was going to be there at 11am I got there little bit after . And I had no expectations just to know that he was good at what he did and he does a great job so I say that to say this cycle Squad can get my business any day because they come to you and he let you know and see and he didn't mind that I got down in it with him , he told me a thing or two but I'm still using him for the simple fact that he is so knowledgeable I can appreciate that thanks Darren I'll be calling you my man, cycle Squad you got my vote A. yes. read more

I was stuck in National City with a broke down scooter on a Sat afternoon. My options were limited as shops were closed or closing and I really needed to get home. One shop recommended I look on Craigslist where I found Darren. He came within 30 mins! and he went above and beyond what was needed to get the bike started. He discovered my rear wheel was loose and may have saved my life. My bike is a chinese model that not too many people know how to work on or are willing to and he knew his stuff and worked until it was not only runing again but running better than it had since I bought it and fixed a couple other things that had come loose as tends to happen on these bikes. AND he charged a very reasonable price. He's a nice, straight forward, and hard working guy. Can't recommend him enough. read more

If you are in to scooter's --apparently Darren is great., however if you have a problem with a real motorcycle (1000 cc or more) you are wasting your money !!. Darren will return 1 in 5 phone calls (maybe). As far as his mechanical skills, I would have to rate him on a scale of 1 to 10 at about 4. As customer I should be abe expect a certen level expertise, not a lot of guessing. Darren needs to decide if he is in the business or not ! read more

I was nervous about using a non-certified mechanic for repair on my scooter. Turns out, these worries were confirmed. I thought my nightmares were bad, but this takes the cake. I had my bike running problem free for four years since I bought it. Although not a major problem, I needed a level of expertise above my own to get my scooter's carbs cleaned and running smoothly again. When he came over things were going great at first, even though he was being quite loud while my newborn child was sleeping. As time went on things got worse. I wish I could give negative stars for a review but I know infinity wouldn't even be negative enough. His professionalism is lackluster to say the least. And his mechanic work was nothing short of failure. My scooter is in worse condition now than before he started working on it. I feel like he thought he could pull the wool over my eyes and surreptitiously take my money (for quite a myriad amount requested by the way). Do not, I repeat, do not contact him for any services. I would suspect he's the kind of guy that says to-mah-toe instead of to-ma-toe. read more

I am writing this review so that the reader can look at my situation honestly and logical as possible. I would like to inform the reader that my intention of writing this review is not to expose any human being in a bad way or destroy a mans character for we are no better than anyone. I would like to give the reader a opportunity to think twice before choosing a mechanic based off the good reviews posted on the website which was a mistake that has cost me over well over 100 dls cash in less than 2 hrs of work done on my gas scooter. I was told that my scooter would be FIXED for me with no doubt. Nothing major my scooter needed it had just bee. Siting for a few years. Anyhow Darren arrived to fix my scooter and he started the engine up. Now any person knows that just because a mechanic starts your car and you test drive it a few blocks does not mean your car is fixed. time will tell if the performance was a success or failure. In my case as soon as I test drove scooter a few blocks I came back to him and paid him 160 cash. After he drove off I turned scooter off and 10 min later I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. I tried to give it a jump with cables and no start. My gut feeling told me something was wrong with this picture. Darren later told me that it could be a electrical issue but first you need to buy a new Cdi box for the scooter which I went and bought the next day 30 bucks. I tried the new cdi box it didn't work. Darren tells Me he can meet me in a few days to check scooter out. I waited 3 days patiently spoke with him and he said he could meet up in a couple more. Five days gone by and he agreed to meet me the next day. When that day came I called and text and got a missed call several hours later with no message which was strange. I sensed I was being dodged but cant judge. Finally the next day I finally got to talk with Darren about my scooter and I was told he didn't know what the problem was with it and I probably messed it up by trying to jump start the scooter??? I was baffled but had to remain calm and not judge the brother because we as humans make mistakes. I told him that he failed to fix my scooter though it started a few times. I told him I thought it would be best if I get a portion of money back and he hung up on me.this I what it seemed like. I was going to handle this legally but I later told Darren that its ok because it will probably cost more fore me to get a lawyer etc. I do know that in life it is important to set the example of how we want to be treated which is the only logical thing I could do in such a situation. I have never written a review on the Internet though I read them quite often. I can now relate to many people who are not mechanics being taken advantaged of and treated very badly. First hand experience is the best teacher. The purpose of this review was not to make Darren look bad in any way it is just to give the reader another option that can save them time and money. I'm sure Darren has had many successful jobs done well but I cant say my help needed was successful. True we all make mistakes but we must be humble to accept and learn from our mistakes... I hope the best for cyclesquads and may they continue to grow in success read more

I felt like a lot of you guys did the first time I met darren. I left him a message and he called me right back, he came to fix my bike quickly, there was a couple of other minor things he fixed for free and he is very inexpensive. We discussed all the work I wanted to have done on my bike, he gave me a parts list, and a very reasonable labor rate. Before he left my house we went over the parts list and labor cost at least 3 more times and we spoke a few more times in the next couple of days cuz i couldn't find parts. It took me an extra month to get everything ready. I called to schedule the appointment but he never called me back. I kept calling and calling and he finally called me back. he told me he would come by my house, but never showed up. He told me he never said that because he wasn't in town that weekend. I texted him to verify the labor cost and he said okay. About 1 or 2 days before the appointment I verified he was coming, but he told me a different price. I told him that was what he quoted me and verified. He said that the price i said he quoted was only for one job and he would not be crazy enough to do all that work for that price. I finally spoke my mind about the last three things he told me and then later said he never said that. I told him i didn't know what he was on when he kept telling me different things and i didn't want him fixing my bike. To me he gives a great first impression, however it all goes downhill from there so be careful! read more
