Elevate: Strength, Endurance and Flexibility

I am 34 years old and in the best shape of my life thanks to Elevate!! I've always been athletic…read moreand enjoy chalenging myself with different ways to workout. Throughout the years I've tried everything from weight training to cycling to yoga and several types of martial arts. I can say that very few workout hit your body so completely like a good session of kettlebell training at Elevate. In one short hour you will get a great workout and walk away fully satisfied. Sure, you will be sore the next day...but no pain, no gain..right? The owner of Elevate and also head trainer Brent is superb at what he does. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned athelete, he always give you suggestions and tips that cater to your specific needs. And since classes are typically small (from 6-10 people), you will get plenty of attention and help when you need it. I will not go into details of what we do in class. Emma's reviews already covered that pretty throughly. What's more important is that IT WORKS! For the past 6 months I've been with Elevate, I've gained lean muscle mass, lost fatty weight, and developed core strength (and when your core is strong, EVERYTHING ELSE is strong). I now live a very busy lifestyle and going to Elevate 2-3 times a week for just about an hour each time has been doing wonders to my body. Our workout regimen change on a regular basis to keep it challenging and fun. I look forward to each class and I'm very excited to what it can do to my body in the near future.

I witnessed the owner of this establishment verbally assaulting a female dance teacher from Hype…read moreDance Studio. He was also extremely verbally abusive to me. He was unprofessional and rude and scary and I would never do business there. He had an issue in the parking lot stating that several of the parking places were not to be used by the neighboring business, Hype Dance studio. He was very unreasonable about it and disrespectful. Unfortunately, he has ruined my opinion of this business.

You can tell everything you need to know about a business by how it responds to negative reviews…read more And the way in which Chico Sports Club made false statements about me without knowing who I am, questioned my email handle as if I don't have a right to privacy, and then demanded that I had no right to say they were disrespectful, tells you everything you need to know about the character of this business. Poor character. Bad manners. Rude people. Bullies. Chico Sports Club is a poorly-owned and poorly-managed gym. Not sure why Chico Sports club cares what my email handle is. Also no threats were made, no intimidation, so that is a defamatory statement by Chico Sports Club, and they are subject to a lawsuit over making false statements in response to a review. And I have every right to say a business is disrespectful if they are disrespectful. That's called freedom of speech, and as a veteran of the Armed Forces, I will use my 1st Amendment Right to call out disrespectful businesses. Don't ever give these people a cent. They are unsound. My review was well-written and objective. Chico Sports Club's response was unhinged, insulting, and defensive of their bad behavior. The front desk staff and personal trainers are the only reason why this place is still in business. It certainly isn't because it is being run by a competent owner or managers. Every time I went, at least one machine I wanted to use was out of use, often times for long periods. Days, sometimes a week or more. Sometimes weeks. The steam room had issues on a few occasions. The banister in the exercise pool was broken for a long period of time. The main lap pool is shared with various groups, so the few lanes that are available, are being rented out to outside groups every day for several hours a day. They leave one or two lanes for the members I think. But that's not a lot when you have regular gym members using the pool and outside groups splitting about six lanes. The pool itself is in terrible condition. I don't think it's ever been redone. I often found things like bandaids, large bugs of various kinds, cement chips from the pool bottom. Etc. And, if you pushback against Chico Sports Club raising member prices and fees, they cancel your membership and blacklist you. Doesn't matter if you're a disabled veteran. Another 1st Class business in Chico. Chico Sports Club is disrespectful to disabled veterans.

I've been taking spin classes at true ride for a little over a year now so this review is long…read moreoverdue. This is a quality studio with quality instructors that fit every different exercise style. The studio manager Olivia is extremely helpful and great at what she does. The reception staff is friendly and welcoming. There is a shared common area with benches, lockers, and cubbies. The women's bathroom is small but has a shower and is clean and comfortable. There's an array of toiletries available like shampoo, lotion, etc. The music is loud as expected with a spin class. I have noticed in the recent months that the music is getting much louder (probably as the instructor's ears adapt to the sound) and drowns out the instructor's audio. This is where the earplugs they offer come in handy. The price for classes are a little steep but they often do deals and sales around the holidays. You have to make an online account to register for a class at True Ride. Arrive a little early if you want to utilize the lockers.

I could not have been more wrong! You're not just riding a bike, your dancing to music with a group of people who are all there encouraging one another. The energy in the room is fantastic and contagious. The instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging. What started as something to try to get a little workout in once in a while has become my community and something I look forward to every day! Give it a shot, try it out, meet some crazy fun new people and I promise you will feel better for it.
