In our time there they added/bought more equipment and improved the facility in other ways I don't want to get into. So these guys are actually putting money back into the gym. They also have a Senior Barbell Club which is a tremendous service to their community. I wish my mom had a place like this to go to learn movement patterns and get stronger! I would only give them constructive criticism: be harder on the community. Demand more from the members. The guys *always* emphasized good position and form during warm-ups and pre-training brief, but these guys are absolute sweethearts and I think they need to dish out a little more bitter medicine to help people get better during lifting sessions. Thank you UPCF we'll miss you.

There is no staff and the owner failed to make our first two appointments, so I couldn't get in. After finally receiving my fob it wouldn't work half the time and there was nobody to let me in. Owner doesn't answer phone or return texts in timely manner. I completely wasted my time with this lousy gym. Don't waste yours.

I've been going to AB Fitness for over a year and I love it!!! It's not your traditional gym. It…read morefocuses on group training and personal training using non traditional movements. My favorite part about the training is that everyday we do something different in my opinion this breaks up the monotony. I can tell you that I've been to every gym in Chico and have never gotten as good of a workout as I did with Kathy Hankins (the owner of AB Fitness). If you're down to break a sweat and push yourself this is a great training facility.

The music was ridiculously loud. It was shaking the walls and giving me a headache. I asked twice…read moreif they could turn it down because I could not hear the trainers instructions over the music, but instead she gave me attitude and actually turned it up. What the heck? She is literally damaging her clients hearing. If they care so little about people's hearing how could they possibly care about the fitness. I walked away and I will not be back.

The Kaia community is an embracing and inviting one with lots of fun nuances that keep it from ever getting boring or routine. The program in Chico is brand new, maybe about 6 months. Classes are held in an uninsulated…read morewarehouse space on Hegan Lane. Equipment consists of a dozen yoga mats, some strength bands, a half dozen kettle bells taped to look like purses, and chin-up bars. The gym does not have bathroom facilities such as showers, but it does have a water cooler. I can understand and even overlook the spartan conditions considering that it's such a fledgling program. However the uninsulated building is a problem. Remember the scene from Rocky where Stallone exercises inside a meat locker punching away at a side of beef? Conditions inside the gym in the mornings aren't that far off! Don't get me wrong, I'm no wimp. Heck, I just got back from a winter camping trip over New Years where I endured freezing temperatures for just under a week. The problem with the gym is the combination of sweating and cold combined; it's just not good. Obviously having just joined, I have no idea what summers are like, but I can't image they are pleasant in Chico's triple digit heat! The other limitation of the gym are its hours. Kaia FIT holds four classes a day, and that is it. Unless a class is being held, the gym is not open for members to exercise. This is far from being a full service fitness facility, and considering what you pay, it isn't a great deal. The one feature Kaia does provide is a single sex environment; men are not allowed. But unless you really have issues exercising in mixed company, I would take my money elsewhere. If honest local poster like me are getting their reviews scrubbed from Yelp, I wouldn't trust them.
