You can tell everything you need to know about a business by how it responds to negative reviews…read more And the way in which Chico Sports Club made false statements about me without knowing who I am, questioned my email handle as if I don't have a right to privacy, and then demanded that I had no right to say they were disrespectful, tells you everything you need to know about the character of this business. Poor character. Bad manners. Rude people. Bullies. Chico Sports Club is a poorly-owned and poorly-managed gym. Not sure why Chico Sports club cares what my email handle is. Also no threats were made, no intimidation, so that is a defamatory statement by Chico Sports Club, and they are subject to a lawsuit over making false statements in response to a review. And I have every right to say a business is disrespectful if they are disrespectful. That's called freedom of speech, and as a veteran of the Armed Forces, I will use my 1st Amendment Right to call out disrespectful businesses. Don't ever give these people a cent. They are unsound. My review was well-written and objective. Chico Sports Club's response was unhinged, insulting, and defensive of their bad behavior. The front desk staff and personal trainers are the only reason why this place is still in business. It certainly isn't because it is being run by a competent owner or managers. Every time I went, at least one machine I wanted to use was out of use, often times for long periods. Days, sometimes a week or more. Sometimes weeks. The steam room had issues on a few occasions. The banister in the exercise pool was broken for a long period of time. The main lap pool is shared with various groups, so the few lanes that are available, are being rented out to outside groups every day for several hours a day. They leave one or two lanes for the members I think. But that's not a lot when you have regular gym members using the pool and outside groups splitting about six lanes. The pool itself is in terrible condition. I don't think it's ever been redone. I often found things like bandaids, large bugs of various kinds, cement chips from the pool bottom. Etc. And, if you pushback against Chico Sports Club raising member prices and fees, they cancel your membership and blacklist you. Doesn't matter if you're a disabled veteran. Another 1st Class business in Chico. Chico Sports Club is disrespectful to disabled veterans.

It's fine. People…read moreare constantly cleaning. The people working there are friendly. There's plenty of machines but few free weights. Especially if you want to squat without a smith machine. I was going at 5:30am and it is surprisingly busy, didn't go any other times but can imagine it doesn't get better. For 10 bucks, if you need a place to work out, it's likely the best of what you can get for the $$$.

This gym is pretty basic. It has all the componenets needed for a work out with zero frills. There…read moreis a reason its so cheap, as far as the monthly fees are concerned. They don't have a separate room like most gyms have for you to go in and work out semi-private workout, they do not offer any classes and the bathrooms feel dirty. Not dirty as in, trash all over the place but dirty as in it needs to be disinfected. It would be a plus if at least one channel on the 10 TV's was for females. Its always sports, news and what looked like cop shows. Some reality , comedy or trash tv would have been great on at LEAST ONE tv, there was never anything remotely interesting (to me) on any of them and sometimes I like to zone out on a show while I'm doing cardio. It seems the rules are a little inconsistent, and are based on who's working. The third time I went to work out, I was told it's mandatory that they take my photo however the friend that I work out with was never asked to take her photo. I didn't want to take a photo on that particular day and was told that I had to if I wanted to work out. Each time we've gone back, they have never once asked her or made it clear that it's "mandatory that she has a photo on file" making me feel singled out, which I'm not cool with. As far as I know, they already had a copy of my drivers license from when I signed up so why did they need an additional photo of me? It gave me the ick so... that was the last month of membership. Parking was kind of a joke as well, depending on time of day but, most of the time I would sit around and wait for someone to leave that was parked near the front because I was weirded out parking too far away from the door (if I went to the gym solo and it was dark). About the operating hours: It would also be nice if they were 24 hours, which I believe they were previously but have since changed and are now inconveniently only open until 10 on Friday and 7 on Saturday. It seems that they would keep their open hours a lot later especially on the weekends. You get what you pay for or, in this case what you dont pay for, its CHEAP for a reason.

Best kept secret in Chico…read more I really don't want to post this because I would love to keep it a secret, but the core is the best gym experience I've ever had and I want others to experience it. Don't wait, don't hum and haw, at least go try it out. Personal trainer-like experience Group-training accountability Focus on fundamentals first With the ability to grow, widen or specialize Versatile training styles from cardio and strength from body weight through bands, machines and free weights I really can't say enough. Steve and Zane and the rest of the trainers get to know you, your goals, how you work and figure out what to apply to make you successful and grow to your potential and beyond. And you know what, you miss a few days, no pressure, reset and get back at it. Need something extra, just ask. I also love the community they build around them with all the members, it's like "Cheers" but for a gym. Motivation, accountability, networking, connection to the broader community, sense of belonging....it's an unexpected benefit. Young and old, men and women, everyone's included and contributes. And for those looking for a pool, or tvs for endless cardio, I suggest you at least go try it. I think you'll find if anything it's complementary or where you'll migrate to. I initially missed my audio books and TV and Peloton but realized how much I was missing out on actually getting results.

I am absolutely loving the programming! They combine strength, cardio and mobility work. I love the variety of exercises so I never get bored. My body feels great and is improving all the time. I love how they're focused on the overall person. They care about injury prevention and accommodating your individual needs. It's truly been an enjoyable fitness experience. They have multiple different workouts to choose from so you can find the right challenge for your body. The coaches are friendly and engaged. I'm really enjoying the format of the workout. There is no official class start time. Your workout begins when you arrive. This has been critical to my success. I've always struggled with being there at the exact same time. In other gyms, I'd show up late and miss the warm up or the strength and get less of a workout. Here I get my full workout whenever I arrive. I also enjoy the community of this gym. Everyone who works out here is very welcoming and friendly. There are definitely those who show up at consistent times. And if you show up at the same time as someone else you get to workout together. The great thing about the natural staggering of people working out is you never seem to have to wait for equipment. Bonus, if you're a pickball player, sports athlete or have strength goals, they will program specific workouts to help you reach your goals. I highly recommend this place. Give it a couple weeks and you'll really see the difference.

I signed up for the challenge to make sure I liked the gym and I would actually go. I'm not a gym guy. In fact, I hated the gym. It was always an intimidating place. I never knew what to do and had no idea if I was doing things right. So, with past memberships I'd do to the gym do a couple exercises then run on the treadmill then leave. Then after a month get bored and never go back. Creeds model is different. They have small classes up to about 8 people. I go the same time every day. I have met great people in my class/time-slot that I enjoy seeing every day. I'm an introvert so it's just enough socializing to feel like I'm part of a group. But not so much that I'm uncomfortable. Taylor programs us for the month. 3 days a week is strength and 2 for cardio. He or another trainer is there to make sure you have good form and provide motivation. I am a lot stronger and healthier now than when I started. Probably stronger than I have been in 20 years. Since joining I have had both my shoulders and my knee fixed. Taylor was able to work in exercises to help me recover and strengthen those areas. If you're trying to find a gym where you have a sense of belonging, get personal training/coaching to get healthy this is the place.
