I wish the previous reviews were real. There was a Facebook post with a flyer on our community page stating there was a special for the local residents of my community. I am all about giving small businesses the opportunity to compete.
So on 02/25, I made the mistake of reaching out to one of their sales reps Tony. Who had posted the flyer. We scheduled an appointment for later that day and he did nothing more than plug a few numbers into his software without explaining what he was doing and said.."Yep, we can definitely help you, and we will find a way to make 12 panels fit on your roof". After the conversation, he said he was doing this as a favor to the community and that he was making no money off of this. That should have been my red flag!
I did indicate that I have solar and do not want this new setup to touch or be combined with the existing one and void the warranties. I provided all the necessary information to him that same day, including submitting an application for the loan. He said we crank these out quickly, and since one of my neighbors is in the process he can double up and install my solar the same day as theirs. Ultimately saying that I would be up and running by mid-April at the latest.
A few days later a random individual shows up unannounced stating he tried to call me and that he needs to conduct the initial inspection. Tony provided an incorrect phone number. When I called Tony to verify the story is true, I received zero help from him. Fortunately, my wife was home to resolve this. After the inspection, he said he was not sure how they will set up 12 panels on my roof but they will combine into my existing setup. I had to inform the inspector about my initial conversation with Tony and how I did not want the two systems to be combined.
On 03/11, I was worried about the end-of-March deadline with NEM 2 and NEM 3, and having no update on the progress. I reached out to Tony, who answered the call with an attitude, that made me feel like I was interrupting his day, and asking silly questions. I.E. what is the status of my solar application and installation? He laughed and said well, it's raining and we can't do anything. Which I found interesting because I did inform him that my neighbor had their solar installed. He was surprised and said well they started before you. They installers were working on my neighbors property, while it was raining. I have pictures to prove it. All I wanted was an update, are we a go or no go? No apology for the poor communication, or an actual update. Instead, more and more excuses. You still have a job, and since your phone still works in the rain you could call your customers and provide an update. We ended the call with Tony saying he will update me on 03/13 with an install date.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt and continued to wait patiently. Today is 04/03, Tony still has not called me and I do not know where I stand with the process but my credit was ran twice since I started this process. I decided to call SDGE to inquire about any recent submissions and they were not able to locate anything.
What frustrates me the most is that I gave this company an opportunity. Instead of being treated like a valued customer, I was disrespected by their sales rep, my credit was ran twice, my time was wasted, and I missed the window to be grandfathered into NEM 2.
Avoid this company at all costs. My experience with SunRun was WAY better than this company. read more
