These bare shelves are from the middle of the day on a Wednesday in July -- not before a hurricane or blizzard. I tried to book an appointment on Minute Clinic yesterday, which it wouldn't allow me to do. I waited the entire afternoon and not a single professional spoke to me the entire time. I waited hours, filled out all of the paperwork online to my knowledge, and there was HARDLY anyone else waiting there for all of the hours I was there. I only needed some antibiotics and ear drops. The lady showed up 30 mins late from lunch and didn't even open the door to the people who had appointments (and were then late for those appointments) until one man started complaining loudly enough for her to hear through the door. Not only that but she seemed MUCH more concerned with her short dress and big jewelry than with communicating with any of the patients in the lobby. She seemed annoyed and impatient with everyone. As I waited, all of the other patients expressed their sympathies for me. I tried to get in yesterday as well. This is horrible and I still have half a mind to call the location and let them know of my experience. I'm livid. read more

If you want a wretched customer experience in your pharmacy, look no further: they don't fill the prescriptions until you walk in; you get bounced between the Pick Up and Consultation lines w no rhyme or reason ("we have a question about your insurance" - "no, we didn't have any questions about your insurance"); you'll be asked for name and date of birth multiple times. And all of that assumes they have the prescription to begin with! Oh, and they recently changed their hours from 9 to 6. Can only make customers miserable 9 hours a day. I am literally begging any other pharmacy or pharmacy chain to come into DC. The pharmacies we have here now are awful. This one is no exception. read more

Bare shelves, very little choice. Also, a bunch of thieves with sketchy return polices. I returned some paper towels that I had mistakenly bought instead of toilet paper on a credit card. I had the card with me but no receipt. They cost $11.79, but CVS gave me the sale price ($5.30) as a refund to a gift card, so I lost $6.49. At that point, I asked if I could just keep the paper towels and return the gift card. The ogre behind the counter stuck them in her cart and refused. According to Apple Maps, this location is closed on Wednesday but I definitely came in today. The aisles were all bare but there were a lot of employees crowded towards the back of the store? Very confusing. Definitely would not recommend going to this store and please be careful if you go at night, I saw 3 homeless people asking for money and such outside and this was around 11 am on a Wednesday. read more

I'm no Karen, but had to take to Yelp on this one. Good lord are they terrible. The staff - particularly the male staff - were shockingly unprofessional, on the phone and in person. They were SUPER condescending to my physician when she tried addressing an error they made multiple times. Staff regularly hangs up on customers or places them on hold to avoid being helpful. After ~15 minutes on hold, a member of the staff said: "I talked to your clinician. I'm not repeating myself" and hung up. I don't know if they're intentionally rude or just incompetent, either way, avoid if you can. read more

This CVS is not a legitimate business. Would give zero stars or less if I was able to. Just a few highlights from the last couple of months: - Went in to pick up a prescription and was forced to wait over 35 minutes as a crowd of people formed; was sent back-and-forth between the windows multiple times, all while the pharmacists themselves couldn't be bothered to wear a mask properly (see photo) - Ordered prints using the one hour photo service (!!)and four days later (!!) still no acknowledgment of the order being received - Attempt to do self check out but machines continually loop in a never ending robotic cycle while employees mill about not even bothering to help - Employees don't even try to pretend to make sure customers wear a mask when they enter - If you are lucky enough to have your call answered expect to be hung up on immediately. I just had the most bazaar experience at this store. I'm here in DC on a visit and realized I forgot to bring a brush. I look up on phone, closest drug store, found this location in walking distance. I arrive a little after it opened at 7am, 2 ladies in the front working, I said, hello, no acknowledgment, okay, I'll just look around, store is pretty small, found where the brushes are, but, there's a stack of boxes in front of the brushes, again no help, I finally found a brush that would work, saw some small travel size mouth wash, which I grab and go to the counter to check out. Sign says register closed, okay I'm looking around, they have self checkout out, so I started ringing myself up and I felt someone behind me, I turn around and there's one of the employees, but, she's looking down, and, anyways I finish up, pay, turn around to say something to the employee and she's still looking down, at her phone? I have know idea. I know your company is planning on closing a lot of stores in the coming years, well here's one you might want to consider adding to that list. read more

This CVS Pharmacy is often terrible. Employees are curt and impatient. If you run into an issue, it's been difficult to get them to help you. I've had several snap at me, or act like customers are unwelcome impositions. Sometimes, you'll be met with kindness (hence two and not one-star), but more often than not, going here to fill a prescription is not a great experience. read more

I made an appointment at 11:10 am to get a flu shot. They told me they didn't have it in their system, so I should come back later. I came back at 1:15, and they told me they didn't take my insurance, even though they do. It took them a while to figure that out. After making an 11:10 am appointment, visiting the store twice, and standing around for half an hour, I finally got a flu shot at 1:45 pm. Ridiculous. Never again. read more

Every time I fill a prescription it requires some kind of negotiation and a minimum of 45 minutes of my time. Use a local pharmacist or a different chain to save yourself a headache. read more

I needed to transfer a prescription for my daughter. An employee working in the pharmacy was unable to properly explain the process, did not place the prescription on hold and I was unable to fill the prescription at another pharmacy. After calling the pharmacy to explain what happened, I was told that I was good to go and then whoever answered the phone hung up on me. It was very unprofessional. It should not be this difficult to get a prescription filled. read more

This CVS isn't the biggest CVS on Capitol Hill, but it's convenience makes it a decent one. It's literally right next to the Eastern Market Metro and perfect for quick shopping trips if you are in need of deodorant, shampoo, or even a ready to eat sandwich. This building dates back to 1935 in case you're like me and were wondering. Most of my visits here look exactly the same. Boxes of stuff to be stocked in the aisle, one tourist family that seems to just stand there like it's a Metro escalator, a crying baby in the biggest, bubble eye Benz stroller with a flustered mum steady asking the irked cashier questions. I always end up tabulating this as I stand in line to check out. Why would I stand in line at a progressive CVS, with Self-Checkout? Because, this CVS is Liberal, it's not as progressive as it seems. Each and every time after telling a panhandler or the guy selling Street Sense that I don't carry cash I stand in line at the register because the Self-Check is always card only. Booo! I have come to realize that it's much easier to get in and out of the new Trader Joe's than this CVS and I stand by that knowing that the new Trader Joe's will mature and no longer be the "New" Trader Joe's. read more

Unfortunate experience with an unpleasant pharmacist / pharmacy manager. He was dismissive and irresponsive to my process on filling a prescription. He said he would call my doctor when he had a chance. At almost 9pm none the less! I advised that I was disabled. I asked if any course of action as I was advised from a previous CVS that he was in stock and the prescription was available. He walked away and said he would call me when it all checked out . Not only a huge barrier for me as a person with limited mobility, but also from a professional service delivery lense, I ended up with no prescriptions as an unhappy unresolved potential patron . Huge missed opportunity. Great mistake on CVS part to not provide resolution nor attempt to set expectations for clients. read more

This Review breaks my heart, I can not review the store but the telephone service. I called CVS pharmacy 4 times on Pennsylvania Ave in DC #202-543-3305 - everytime I called I waited on hold for a long time (10 plus minutes each) and every time someone picked up the phone, they hung up. I finally got little frustrated and decided to call the store and asked for the manager, I was told there was not a manager in the store. I was directed to speak to Andre the supervisor. I was told by Andre the Store Supervisor that the Pharmacy probably hung up on me because they are busy. I asked Andre if that was the CVS protool to hang up on clients if CVS is Busy. Andre responded by saying " Look, what do you want me to do.- " I am surprised in his response, since the lines in my practice are recorded I am not confused with what I heard Andre the Store supervisor said. Still waiting... employees are rude. They didn't transfer my prescription properly and acted like it was my fault... I had to wait longer. Then it was ready, I provided a manufacturer's coupon, and was scolded that I should've submitted that at the other window. Everyone including the pharmacist whined about it and said I'd have to wait a few more minutes. The clerk avoided eye contact. 15 minutes later they called me back up. 15 minutes to enter a coupon! And they told me that they didn't think the coupon would work (trying to avoid doing their job, I think) but it saved me $10. Terrible experience. Won't go back. read more

Just don't. Go literally anywhere else. It somehow takes this location days on end to fill common, generic prescriptions. So long in fact that I ran out of medicine while waiting for a refill. I went twice today looking for a prescription and when I was told it wasn't ready for the second time, I told them I was now completely out and I would just wait. The response was that they were about to close, so I would have to come back tomorrow. So you don't fill my prescription for several days without explanation and then when I've actually run out of medication, you won't fill it because you're closing in 7 minutes. This store is a train wreck, has been a train wreck for years and doesn't seem to want to improve. The pharmacy has constant turnover and they refill prescriptions with out the consent of the customer and then would rather argue with you about it. There have been two men at the pharmacy counter whose names I cannot remember who are genuinely nice but woe to the person who happens to get one of the pharmacists, Rude, disrespectful, unpleasant all rolled into one. This CVS isn't that bad. Eastern Market may not be all lily white, but it is not a bad neighborhood AT ALL! This location is housed in a cool little art deco building, and I do mean little. They have crammed that tiny space with almost the same offerings as any other CVS. So beware, it is cramped as hell. Yeah, the lines are really long here too. It is a good place to grab something on the way to the Metro, it's just convenient. One thing that sucks about this location is the lack of photo precessing. No problem though, there is another location just down the street (off 12th.) That location is easily twice as big. But beware Stuart and others who think this location is 'ghetto,' the other location is even next to some abandoned row houses! *gasp!* read more

I really dislike this place, and the fact that I keep going back is a mystery to me. I think about switching my prescriptions elsewhere every single time I go. And yet, I go. Ugh. I give my props to the one nice guy who's always working in the pharmacy. I recommend trying to check out there if possible, although the line will be just as long as at the front registers. Speaking of, there are probably six registers in the front and you're lucky if there's someone standing behind one of them. Back to the pharmacy, I once called them about five minutes after the website said the pharmacy opened with an important question about a prescription. After being on hold for 40 minutes, and thinking there were sure a lot of people calling at that time of the morning, someone answered and asked if I would hold even longer. When I said no thanks and that I'd been holding for 40 minutes already, she said something to the effect of "yes, I can see that, but I just got in and no one else is here and I have to boot up the computers before I can do anything." I should probably just ask the one nice guy what his hours are. I really like the Eastern Market neighborhood so I wish this CVS would get its act together. read more

This is the weirdest CVS I've ever been in. It's a quarter the size of any other CVS, the layout is off, and random things are in random places. Don't forget to pick up your Halloween pumpkins as Cheerios at check out. I just stopped in to pick up the SmarTrip card because the machine in the Metro was broken. The guy swiped my husband's debit card and we waited, and waited. He said it didn't go through so he swiped it again, and again and again. And again and again. By the 6th or 7th time (I lost count), we started getting nervous and offered to pay cash. Don't get me wrong. The kid behind the counter was really nice and trying to be professional. He tried showing us on the screen that nothing was coming up and said something was wrong. I couldn't see the screen so I don't know. But there was definitely an issue. Anyway, we paid cash and left. I hope we don't get billed 6x because I gave this CVS two stars only because he handled it so well. read more

As a out-of-towner for the weekend of Cherry Blossom Festival 2008, I came here in search for a first-aid as I suffered a bad burn on my hand from spilling boiling hot tea at a restaurant. My then-boyfriend of two short lived months, was utterly useless in asisting my search for proper first-aid for my burn hand.
