Debi has the onsset of Dementia and I have breathing issues so even though you are not a prefered pharmacy with our insurance the convience is worth the cost. We recently moved from one apt to another in the same develpement and have had her prescriptions delivered for 5 1/2 years at the same address until our move on 7/2. I have made every attempt to help the drivers know it is a different apt building by contacting the store 3 times with suggestions. Like "can you please when Debi gets the next few refills can you please tell the driver that it is a different building and apt in person !!!!" They will not know~ the addresses are almost identical. Well today, as usually it didn't go as planned. I was told the way they notify the drivers of any changes is on the green slip of paper stapled to the bag!!!! the print is 5xs smaller than the print of The customers name!!!! I am sure after going to the same apt for 5 years when you see the customers name YOU HAVE NO REASON TO KNOW THEY MOVED! When I called the store again to ask if they could do something different!!!! I was told NO. Not only that but Holly who works there muted my call and when I called back the other person who answered the phone said Holly went to lunch and said the call dropped. This is my second issue with miss Holly!!!!!! I worked in customer service for 55 years from selling real estate to managing a convience store........... They are a preferred provider with my insurance plan, and have saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars per year over my previous provider (also preferred). I had no idea pharmacy providers prices for a Medicare plan could vary that much! My previous pharmacy offered exceptional, personalized service, and I was afraid I would lose that with a new one. Nope! Medicine Shoppe has a great team that provides a great experience each time! Shout out to Meaghan and Linford with whom I have most to interactions...they're both top notch in friendly service, accuracy and having orders ready on time. The Medicine Shoppe also has delivery available daily for a nominal fee. Another service worth mentioning...walk-in vaccinations during regular business hours. Little to no wait. Finally, while I have had an very occasional less than stellar interaction with one or two team members, I whole-heartedly recommend the Medicine Shoppe on South Queen for all your prescription and vaccination needs. Apparently there is only two pharmacies of this kind in Lancaster and the other couldn't do my special compound. With that being said be prepared. I was sent home with a script that required I start taking it immediately to avoid further infection and possible hospitalization. It'll be ready in 2 days was their response. Only when I insisted (quite firmly) that this was very serious and needed filled immediately only than did they have it filled in a few hours. While there I could see just how busy everyone was. This place must do a hell of a business both local and afar due to their specialty but compared to my little family owned regular pharmacy they fell short. I didn't feel I got personalized attention and because they are so busy and treat so many clients they lost touch with their customers. Not knowing your customers and knowing their medical and script history can lead to mistakes is my thought process. I know first hand that my regular pharmacy knows me so well that a few times they brought things to my attention when new medications were added to my regimen that even my doctor missed. On the plus they do deliver and send scripts thru the mail. Neither was offered to me, and I'm sure that's an additional cost. They do stay open late, in fact I think the hours listed are wrong as I had a friend who worked there well after midnight. But got the impression that they will not fill scripts while you wait. So while I am grateful they're able to fill my unusual formulation, I'm also happy to stick with my regular pharmacy, Smithgall's for everything else.

I had a prescription sent to Williams Apothecary because they carried the brand of medication I…read morepreffered. It took over half an hour for the fax to come through (???) after it was,sent while I was on the phone with my doctor's office... I was told that this was normal for them and that it can take up to an hour... perhaps they're overdo for some up to date technology. After paying 5 times what I had paid for the same meds at another pharmacy the previous day I found that an easily available online discount of 90% (!) was available. As I know for a fact that the pharmacy is aware of the availability of this discount I am very disappointed they did not take the initiative to offer it to me on the spot. As a result I had to waste my time and return the next day and have it applied retroactively. To add salt to the wound a large, burly man who is apparently in charge instructed the woman behind the register to charge me a $10 "transaction fee". When I questioned it I was told that I was "taking up a pharmacist's time".... I was not aware that a pharmacist is needed to issue a refund but then I do not know how the staff there is trained or not trained as the case may be... Finally when I told them that their decision to charge me was not a good business decision considering the loss of a customer and that I would not have anything positive to say about their customer service, the same large, burly man came out from behind the counter in an almost menacing manner which almost made me feel threatened and told me he did not want my business... gotta wonder what kind of business can afford to say something like that in this day and age! Oh! I was also told that when I was in there the day before waiting 1/2 an hour for a fax to arrive that I was being "demanding" because they "were busy" and I had asked if it arrived or if it would help to call doctor's office. The two people I dealt with today can only be described as obnoxious and really should reconsider their choice of working in any customer-facing capacity. Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere and recommending to my doctor not to refer any of her patients to this pharmacy! 6/11 update: without getting in to detail it turns out Williams Apothecary also tried to significantly overcharge me when I thought I had to pay full price for my medication... Never setting foot in that place again!

We happened to stop in at Smithgall's Pharmacy during our recent Lancaster outing, primarily for…read morenon-pharmacy purposes. Smithgall's is probably one of the few surviving non-chain neighborhood pharmacies. It's a typical corner store in a residential area, with beautifully restored older homes. It's the opposite of a big box chain. Smaller selection, however I saw products (Sea Breeze!) that I haven't seen in a store. This may be because the shelves are not jammed with stuff. No self checkout. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The woman at the counter answered questions with cheer, and quickly checked customers out. The prices were...reasonable. A 20 oz bottle of soda cost $1.50 for example, which is on par with others. It's just a lovely place, and I'm sure we'll stop in next time we're in Lancaster, even if it's out of the way.

I was very upset because several customers heard what she said. I could tell by the pharmacist tone of voice that she was judging me and the fact that she said it loud enough for everyone in the store to hear was very embarrassing for me. She didn't know me or the fact that I have 3 plates, 12 screws and 2 rods holding my lower spine together. This incident happened several weeks ago and I was not going to post a review but one of the other people that was in the pharmacy at the time this happened saw me at the food store last night and said she felt bad for me and was embarrassed for me. I didn't know this lady and was embarrassed for the second time because the pharmacist does not know how to conduct herself professionally. This store really is a little gem and different from the chain drug stores. I need to remember to…read morego here more often! What I like is they carry many products catering to homeopathic, natural,and organic lifestyles. Whether it be medication, beauty supplies, or food - their selection of these items are the best around. This is in addition to the normal drug store staples of beauty, drug, cosmetics, seasonal items,etc. They also have a pharmacy which I've never used. Hubby likes the fitness supplements and protein powders. Their selection of these items are pretty plentiful too. Prices are kinda all over the place, depending on the product but overall probably higher than say going to CVS. Often they will have a double page ad of coupons in the Clipper so look for it for additional savings on select items. When I was dumbfounded on where to find essential oils I found them here. Selection is fairly good although there were several I bought on ebay either because Savemart didn't carry them or the price was better. So why 4 stars and not 5? For me I hate their parking lot. The layout is poorly designed. Secondly the isles are close together and crammed. The place is usually crowded and its hard to find help. Lastly the security guy at the front door checking your purchase when you leave. Is theft that prevalent here that that's necessary?

Twice now when I went to pick up my prescriptions only one of the three prescriptions I had called…read morein several days earlier were not ready. I had called to have them refilled in plenty of time. I was told their supplies did not come in yet, maybe later today or tomorrow. So I had to make a second trip back the next day. This time they only had one more filled. Their shipment for the third script had not come in yet. By now I was angry. I had already made a second trip in and now I was being told to come back tomorrow. What is wrong with you that I can only pick up one script at a time? I cannot keep coming back in everyday and I need that prescription now, like today. The woman said " Let me see if we have any extras on hand" When she came back she said they would be able to fill it today. She also told me that had I said all that the first day I was in I could have gotten them all on the first day. Today, several weeks later now, I was in again to pick up a prescription that my doctor had called in several days earlier. This time I was told that they had not started filling it yet. I told them I needed it today, I was totally out. Well we have it but we have not started refilling it yet. I asked when it would be ready. "Well maybe in 15 or 20 minutes we can have it ready". Oh wait it looks like there is a problem with the insurance and you will have to speak with the pharmacist. After a a few minutes the pharmacist came over with the prescription and told the cashier how to ring it up asking him, did he want him to do it, no I think I will be able to do it. He then started doing a lot of typing on the computer and when the phone rang he picked that up and started taking all the information down on the caller, while I sat there. Finally another employee came and finished typing for him and rang up the sale. What is wrong with this pharmacy? It is never ready, you need to come back, or there is a problem with the insurance, or we have not started filling that yet? Every time it is a different excuse. They did not use to be like this. Infact I was always very happy with them. That is no longer the case.
