My experience with this CVS pharmacy has been awful. I have waited on hold for over an hour with no response from the pharmacy staff. I have had to wait in line for unjustifiably long amounts of time. There is no organization and it seems that many other customers are feeling the same way. Very frustrating. I put up with the horrible service because this pharmacy is 24/7. I waited a week to pick up my Retin A prescription because I knew it would take them a bit to fill it. I come back a week after my doctor prescribes it and I wait in a long line for them to tell me it still isn't filled. The guy told me they were still working on it and it would be 30-40 minutes. I know that's a lie because there is a second line of people that are waiting that they have told the same thing to. What is going on with CVS? I have always had pleasant experiences at the pharmacy and worked in the pharmacy for years so I am aware of protocols. The customer service has gone to shit. After calling the pharmacy to check if a medication was in stock, I was told that they were not able to share the info over the phone. Ok, I get that. So I drove from Monterey after another bad experience at another pharmacy to this location. When I drop the Rx off, the pharmacist told me they don't have it in stock. Can't they at least tell me that. Nobody offered to call other pharmacies or think of a solution. I was beyond disappointed by the company I spent years working for. Each location is different. If you want awesome service, drive to the Carmel CVS. They know how to treat their customers. read more

Horrible customer service and pharmacy protocol and operation!!! This is NOT my first bad experience with the pharmacy. I had similar problems to this in the past. On this particular day, I had called in early one morning for an RX for refill using their automated telephone system (I thought this was a at least a pretty good idea to have an automated system to handle refills, right?....WRONG!). So, in the automated system you plug in your rx number and then specify when you can pick it up. I specified fo 5 hrs later, that day. Well, I was super busy and couldn't make it in that day, so I was not able to get by there until late in the afternoon the NEXT day. I make a 10 mile trip to get the RX just to have the clerk at pharmacy tell me, "oh, it didn't get filled". He doesn't tell me why until I ask him...."well, why not". He then says, "It was out of refills and needed to get doctor's renewal". I was like, "OK, then WHY did NO ONE call me to tell me that, so I didn't have to drive out here a day later to find out?" He gave me a moment of silence and then said, "Oh, I don't know". I said, "well that's pretty ridiculous that you guys KNOW it won't be filled AND you KNOW I will be coming to get it, and you make ZERO effort to notify me OR to at least call the doctor to get the refill renewed". Again....a blank stare and silence...then, "oh, yeah, I don't know". I'm thinking this is a frikin' joke of a pharmacy. Well, then I asked him, "So, now then how would I have EVER been notified that this wasn't going to get filled". He says, "I don't know". I ask what the process is NOW to fill it. He says, "well they will try calling your doctor". I asked if they had made any attempt to do that yet......again, a blank stare and then, "uh, I don't know". OMG!!!!! I finally said, "Don't you think there should be some SIMPLE protocol to call a patient if YOU GUYS KNOW you can't fill the RX"? He says, "Well if you had spoken to someone when you called in, they would have told you that". HUH???!!!! IT'S AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM!! WHAT A MORON! I figured I'd made enough fuss, and was getting nowhere, so I left. Again, this is NOT the first time I've had similar problems of them not notifying patients of filling rx issues. This happens A LOT! It's just that I finally had to vent about it!! UGH!!!! CVS sucks! I have finally had it with CVS pharmacy. My grandson's prescription was called in Friday of last week and after purposely waiting to pick it up thinking I'm giving them adequate time to fill it given how busy they usually are, here it is Monday and it's still not filled! Mind you I've been to the pharmacy numerous times since Friday checking on it. When I called earlier today and asked if it was ready the response again was that it wasn't!!! I told the woman on the phone it'd been called in since Friday. Her uncaring, rude response was that they are a couple days behind!! Seriously! How can they do this especially people who need their medications!! I completely understand it can get busy but why then don't they have more staff working or hire more staff so people don't have to wait in a slow moving long line let alone have to wait days for prescriptions to be filled. I'm so frustrated with the attitude of pharmacy staff, one in particular a tall woman with greyish hair. She is rarely friendly and I recognized her voice when I called today so it was no surprise the response I got was rude. That's it. I'm over it. I left my cart with items in it and walked out. I will no longer get my prescriptions filled at CVS South Main nor will I be shopping there again. And writing this review will probably not change one thing if it's even read by CVS management. Horrible service waited forever for someone in the pharmacy area to pick up phone. Once someone picked up I explained my situation to them that I had been on hold for over 30 mins at a different CVS and would like to talk to a pharmacist ASAP. Person told me they are really backed up. Asked where to call recommended walgreens. Spoke to someone at Walgreen's in under 2 minutes which happened to be the pharmacist. 1 star for recommending Walgreen's otherwise don't recommend they have no compassion for people. read more

I am providing an update to my older review to explain the problem. The problem with suspicious people loitering at the store entrance and the parking lot seems to have been resolved. The Pharmacy is still having major problems which are due to their miscommunications (technological and personnel communications) with local doctor's offices/prescribers and customers. The pharmacy staff has been dishonest with me, usually by saying untruthful things for the sake of customer service, also considered "white lies." This is a problem because it hides the truth of why they have so many problems with serving customers. They are making mistakes and having errors sending and receiving communications with local doctor's offices which is the reason their wait times are so long and staff is so stressed because they have to spend time fixing it and dealing with those complaints. I have leveled with the staff to talk about it and they acknowledged their problems but are hopeless to fix it. When I filed a complaint to the corporate customer care line, as what happened before, I received a call from their regional manager who got very angry with me and refused to believe me when I explained what the problem was. So, therefore, I am taking this up to their corporate headquarters as it is something that affects many of their customers (who need their medication) who are being harmed by this problem. read more

This review is for the Pharmacy. If I could give zero stars I would. The pharmacy staff is rude, the waiting time in line ranges from 20 minutes to over an hour. Today was 90 minutes to get a patch, after I was told 30 minutes. A PATCH!!! You don't even have to count that! I'm furious. I cannot wait until my insurance changes and I can go back to COSTCO Pharmacy. Do NOT use this pharmacy if you can help it. Unfortunately as long as I can remember this pharmacy has been this way. It's open 24 hours and that's probably one of the reasons you might select this chain. Otherwise, I would recommend a smaller, independent store. There appears to be a free for all to pick up your order, in fact, my wife had 3 people just cut in front of her and the staff did nothing. The problems with this cvs and with many other stores in salinas is simply bad because their employees and lack of simple training. The picture kiosk is always unmanned and the employees have no clue how to operate them, had to use YouTube video just to print pictures because the employee didn't seem to want or try to help even after I asked him. Next there is the issue of the pharmacy which is alright for regular stuff but they never answer calls (left a phone on hold for 3 hours while I was cooking dinner and eating) and when you call main cvs they say ya it's open let me transfer you real quick! Another hour+ call that I didn't want to sit through again so I ended it. Went to the cvs watched the pharmacy as I called them(with no one in line) and watched them actively ignore it as they had idle conversation. They don't seem to care about the customer, only the paycheck. Steer clear of this one go to monterey, salinas venues are going downhill and need some serious new management! read more

We thought CVS is a big name, and we would receive great services there. However, this unpleasant experience has proven that the south main CVS is the worst pharmacy we've been! Our son had ear infection and I filled the prescription in this CVS. He should take it continuously for 10 days. However, on the second to last day, we found that there was not enough medicine--it was one and a half dose less than prescribed. So my husband went to talk to the pharmacist, and the pharmacist refused to give us the shortage. Although this pharmacy is the closest one to our house, after this horrible experience, we will never go there to fill our family's meds again! Filling your Rx? I want to say CVS on South Main in Salinas has a lady name "Jackie" in cosmetics. She is wonderful, knowledgeable, and helpful. I didn't know what to get for my face. I had breakouts, pores that were enlarging, rosacea, sensitive skin, a mess. My friend recommended Jackie. It's been over a month and once I explained to her my problem she showed me some products to try, and today skin doing fine. She explains she isn't a doctor's but she has worked there for years and has dealt with various problems. She knows her stuff. I am grateful she is there and is who she is. She is welcoming, accommodating, and just a very nice woman. She hears you and treats you as an individual. If there is clones ever made, well wish Jackie was in all CVS stores. You will know her buy her smile and willingness to help. My friends daughter is someone who is also very happy with the products she recommended to her for her issues.. Great job Jackie. This is the worst pharmacy ever. They autocalled me to inform me of a pick up and when I arrived they had no record of calling me. The rude woman with the grey shoulder length hair was rude to the lady in front of me in line telling her "don't move, stay where you are!" when the lady was confused because she couldn't find her prescription and later had to go sit down because they had to redo her prescription. Unfortunately, I got this same pharmacist who has terrible customer service skills and has no business working in a service job. She couldn't find my name or my prescription either, said the computer must be messing up and I wasn't the first to have this problem. When I told her CVS called me she says "ok, shop right there! Don't go down that road!" I was out of my meds, but she was so rude I will be calling for her manager to file a complaint and then will contact the corporate CVS office as well. This CVS pharmacy is so horrible. I've gotten a prescription at this specific pharmacy at least 6 times and they tell me it will be an hour, I normally come back 4 to five hours later and it's has NEVER been ready. When I come in to pick it up they tell me it will be ten more minutes EVERY TIME! It's like they wait til you show up to actually fill your prescription. I've been in line and the person at the register will leave the register to file prescriptions. Umm there's a whole line of people, I'm pretty sure you can file later. I try to weigh out the pros and cons. But the only pro is that they are 24 hours. So let me break it down, you have to wait in a long line for them to tell you that that your prescription is not ready. Then you have to wait for them to fill it and wait in the line again when your name is called. I finally moved all my prescriptions to mail in through my insurance. Sooooo much better. Take your prescription to star pharmacy or Walgreens. Don't waste your time. read more

If you could give NO STARS this is the true rating for CVS S. Main Salinas Pharmacy. I've dealt with Binu 3 times and he is the rudest person. He will not let you finish asking a question before he is making up some excuse. Even better - if you are a women asking the question - beware, he will talk to you like you are wasting his time and that you are so ignorant and insignificant. The support staff have always been friendly with me. It is the pharmacists that make this place horrible. No customer service from the pharmacists. My son's medicine has had to be ordered (you'd think if requests keep coming in - maybe think about stocking the item so it doesn't have to be ordered every time. Especially since you can't refill that far ahead since its a controlled substance.) and I let them know he's being switched so he will be off his meds completely until this comes in and it is extremely important to get him back on his meds. Sure - sure we get it. They order it on a Thursday. It's to come in on Tuesday-Wednesday. I call Tuesday early afternoon. The lady says orders come in after 5pm. I call at 7pm giving them well enough time to get things sorted, etc. They say, oh, um well it didn't come in. Looks like the order didn't go through, so it'll be reordered tomorrow. They said they would call the other pharmacies to see if they could find it and will call me back within the hour (by 9pm). They never call and I call at 9:37pm. They never called around. We are going out of town on Friday and he needs this. Um, well it *should* be here Thursday. Then they transfer me to the jerk Binu without telling me they are transferring me to him. He says in his very, very, very heavy accent that he cannot guarantee anything because things happen and it may not come in again. "Ok but..." and the interruptions begin. I gave up, my husband went to pick up the RX (of course Binu slipped out he suddenly wasn't there to face my husband) and drove to Seaside Walgreen at which they happily filled the RX within an hour or two (around midnight). So go to Seaside Walgreen instead of Salinas S. Main CVS. read more

absolutely the worst customer service! The people in the pharmacy really don't even try to provide decent service. Not sure if they are understaffed, but something is seriously wrong here. Even when my doctor calls in my prescription and I wait a day before going in, I had to wait over an hour. Oh and don't even get me started on their auto reminder service, it's annoying and inaccurate. It will call you to tell your your prescription is ready or due to be renewed but it rarely is ready. This review is strictly for the CVS pharmacy. It is terrible. If you have to call, good luck getting a pharmacist or someone else to help you or even pick of the call. Too many times they pick up the call (probably in hopes to stop the ringing) and then just put you on hold and never return. I always have a problem getting my daughters inhalers for asthma. Not only does the MD office fax/call it in, I also bring in a hand-written Rx. But when I call or go pick it up, they always tell me I need a new RX...they're always looking at the old one. Staff also need an inservice on how to put in insurance information. I once stood there over 30 minutes because they said it "wasn't being accepted." Not only were they entering the wrong #, they were also leaving out numbers. This has happened on more than one occasion. The last time I needed her inhaler, I called to see if it was ready. They said they haven't received it from MD yet. I called later, CVS said they still haven't received it. Called MD office, they did. Got on phone with Costco, asked to get Rx to them. THEY called CVS, got Rx transferred. How about that? The Rx was there the whole time. read more
