I had no idea what to do and suddenly I look through my rear view mirror and see a CVS Samaritan Van here to provide help and relief to a driver in need of roadside assistance. You don't know the feeling of relief that I felt at that moment. Since then I have been a customer of CVS and when I moved here to Roanoke, I choose the CVS in Towers as my pharmacy of choice. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new businesses and restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And the CVS Pharmacy in Towers in Roanoke, Virginia, is the perfect example. Open seven days a week until 12 midnight, conveniently located, with a nice size parking and a drive through window, these are some of the reasons why I choose this pharmacy, but like me there are many others who shop here and it tends to be very busy. Bust just like in the restaurant business, it is the very busy ones who tend to be the best ones. But everytime I've visited this pharmacy, included today, the pharmacists seem to be very busy, yet if I waited in line, they have always have had the time not only to deliver my medicine, but they have had time to listen to my needs and help with whatever they could. And I appreciate this very much since my mother was a Pharmacist for 50 years and worked as the Head Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager in the Oldest running Pharmacy in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, having passed the Pharmacy Boards of Florida and Massachusetts as well. For the first time I was having a Colonoscopy done as a preventive measure and the specialist doing the procedure had the medicines that I would need to prepare for this sent to this Pharmacy. When I went to pick them up I found out that my insurance didn't cover them, so after noticing there cost I asked if they had any plan that could help me lower the cost a bit. The pharmacist taking care of me brought the medicines to the "Consultation" counter and asked me to wait there. There, almost immediately the Head Pharmacist, came to see me and was able to use a card or plan they have for this, making the cost of the medicines more reasonable. I just had to wait in the waiting area for the Pharmacist to process the transaction. I thanked her immensely and mentioned to her about how my deceased mother Pharmacist would have been very proud of her. This Pharmacy may have many advantages, but their primary one is their people, their pharmacists, who work in a very caring profession, and do their work well. For I find that people don't mind how much you know and how many degrees you have, as much as that you care.

Someone on staff deactivated my old prescription and then lied to me about it stating they can't deactivate scripts. I had to call my doctor to get it fixed and when I picked up my new script for my old bp med the guy asked if I was taking both. I said no I'd had a reaction to the new one. He said oh let me deactivate that one then and literally did it in front of me. I also deal with this location for calling in scripts for doctor's at my work. I can never reach the pharmacist. They answer, put me on hold for 5min and then fwd me to vmail vs picking back up. I hate dealing with this location.

She is currently battling liver cancer, a blocked bile duct, an abdominal aneurysm, multiple issues with her back, a plethora of other major health issues, and possible cancer in her lymph nodes. She has never failed her drug tests and always takes her medication s prescribed. She lives all the way in goodview and moved her pharmacy to this one on 9th street after the CVS on Hardy started being a@@holes. They already write the prescriptions so that you're out of your pain meds when you get the new prescription, even if you follow the doctor's orders to the T. Jason would not allow my aunt to get her pain medicine prescription even though the doctor had written it for that day. The nurse from the doctor's office even called to speak with him and he hung up on her! My aunt had to have the doctor send the order to yet another pharmacy and was finally able to get her medication two days later. So on top of already being in pain and sick, she had to go through withdrawals as well. Shame on you CVS, and you especially, Jason. Not everyone is out to cheat the system or to misuse those prescription drugs. Some people wish more than anything that they didn't need those medicines to get through the day. One day you may find yourself in a similar situation. We don't stay young forever. CVS used to be on top of the game, but in the last couple of years, their customer service is non existent and the lack of compassion their employees have is down right disgusting.

As I was driving up one of the streets of Salem, Virginia, This CVS caught my attention and I decided to park my pearl white Lexus in their ample parking lot and go inside to explore it. Once inside, the first thing I noticed was that their shelves displays were not that modern, however they contained a wealth of a variety of items which I had never seen in other more modern CVS's yet so desirable in the eyes of the contemporary customers. Simple things like an area where magazines and paperback books were sold (like in the good old days), a large area of quality greeting cards where each card had a special message or design that made you stop and want to read it, a computerized machine where you could print a photograph from your phone using the CVS app, the convenience of a modern ATM machine, and a Virginia Lottery machine where you could purchase lottery tickets on your own without the need to have an employee process them for you, among other interesting merchandise and services. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and all it has to offer its customers. Besides this, it had some older employees, one on the floor and one behind the counter, who delivered the traditional customer service, that is more powerful in winning you as a customer than all the sales you could have. In today's term we call it relationship selling. My mother who was a pharmacist and head pharmacist for over 50 years had that same special caring touch when dealing with her customers. One of the older employees that was on the floor, noticed that I was looking for something and instead of waiting for me to ask for help she came up to me and said: "Can I help you find something?" And helpful she was because she helped me find what I was looking for even though it was in the area right in front of me. Both her and the lady at the counter explained to me how it was that you could make prints from your cellphone photos as well. What they didn't know, however, was how to use the Lottery machine because when I asked them how to use it, they just guided me to where it was and couldn't explain further and I couldn't figure it out nor purchase a lottery ticket. Another thing that impressed me the most was the amount of sale item tags that the merchandise had as well as their signs letting you know that their "Extra Care" program unlocks more value and that you could join in seconds at checkout. When I went to the counter with the items I purchased by inserting my phone number I didn't even have to carry with me my Extra Care membership number to get its benefits which the lady behind the counter kindly explained to be I was getting after printing my receipt. It's a pleasure shopping in stores like this and I highly recommend it and celebrate the service that it's providing to the community of the City of Salem and its neighbors.

There was no notice in the store or on the CVS app that said you have to call the store pharmacy on the phone if you want to pay with Good Rx instead of your insurance provider. The store had my Good Rx number in their system and had used it several times in the past on my request. The manager's only goal was to run customers through the payment process as soon as possible. This store has really gone downhill in the last few months.
