This is about the pharmacy, not the rest of the store. Problem #1: They NEVER answer the phone. They actually told me it is their policy to NOT answer the phone. They will call you back when it's convenient for THEM, and then leave you a message with NO information about your quest for a prescription refill. The "smart AI" phone answering system is TORTURE! It will repeatedly tell you your script is "refillable" without ever offering the option to get it refilled! They have repeatedly refilled prescriptions I did NOT ask for - to the point where my doctor's office was calling me to ask why I'm taking so many pills! And the attitude is just "this is how we do it, too bad for you." I'm looking for a new pharmacy now. Enough of this. read more

From pharmacy to front end of store, this location is horrible. David in pharmacy has been least bit of helpful. Recently in the drive thru he has two prescriptions in hand for me. One has a copay, the other doesn't l reach for both he grabs up one and says "you need to pay". Then says you have a card on file, I would think that he would've made that observation. As of today I'm very frustrated. I called last evening left a voicemail for a return call. They messed up a prescription according to my insurance. Just called this morning again David answers the phone. I'm trying to explain my issue, he tells me l need to wait for a return call. If there's an error with a prescription that was on them. He should want to correct while I'm on my the phone. read more

This CVS is small and a bit disorganized. Some days a bit dirty. Also sale prices never seem to be marked. The staff is nice but overwhelmed most days. Self check out usually has one or two that are not working. It's a shame. Especially with the closing of the other CVS. Get them more help. read more

I came here because I needed a charging cord for my phone and a snack. I ended up purchasing a bottle of water, a charging cord, and a small bag of Nerds Clusters. I asked where the charging cords were located, and I was directed to aisle four but when I got there I noticed that one charging cord for a phone was $30-$40 which is way overpriced. I went to the front of the store where I saw that they had charges for around $10 but when I came in to scan my item it said $30. I was told that people come in, try to steal the items, and then put them down in the wrong place when they're unsuccessful. I then waited behind a couple of people in line, and there were four cash registers, but only one was open. The wait was very long, even though there were only two people ahead of me. The guy in charge of assisting with self-checkout apologized for the wait, which I appreciated. (I was told I needed to go to a register about the price question.) I ended up finding a charger for $17, and it works well. I'm also glad I made it to my train as well because I only had 20 minutes to get to the station after my purchase. read more

This CVS is well stocked and went through a redesign several years ago that cleaned it up quite a bit. But I agree with the other reviewers that the standards are low compared to other CVSes in this area. I used to get my annual flu shot here, but stopped going after being kept waiting as long as half an hour just to check in, and then more time to get the actual shot. The self-checkout lines are often broken and there can be long waits to use one. read more

Once upon a time there was a pharmacy with a wonderful pharmacist who knew your name and prescriptions. Who made sure you avoided bad drug interactions. And she was a superhero during the pandemic. She's left CVS and the pharmacy can only be described as a pit of inefficiency filled with uncaring and rude staff that rotate through on almost a weekly basis. Awful male pharmacist! He was not helpful at all. I attempted to fill my prescription and because he didn't know how to spell the medication, he assumed the store did not carry it. He asked me to try another pharmacy. Just to see if he spelled the medication correctly, I asked how did he spell it and did he know what the medication was for? He said yes and he spelled it wrong and said the medication was for my knee. I informed him that the medication is for allergies and I will look it up online to help him spell it correctly because I really need it and he rushed me off the phone. JUST AWFUL and he Obviously could care less about customers medical needs. I'm sure he's done this before. read more

Pharmacy staff is extremely unprofessional and rude. They openly speak about your medication and insurance plans within ear shot of other customers which violates patient's privacy act. In addition they are scheduling vaccine appointments and then telling customers there is no stock on the day of their appointment which is poor planning. I do not recommend CVS Pharmacies under any circumstance. I have chosen to switch my pharmaceutical needs to Walgreens and the service has been excellent!! read more

I typically shy away from writing negative reviews, however I have had multiple negative experiences dropping off prescriptions through the drive thru here, mainly, they lose it. Today marks the 4th time this has happened, and this is the typical script: 1. there is suspicion by whomever is at the pickup window or if inside at the pickup register 2. The pharmacist in charge is called over and he will ask you all the same questions again then tell you they don't have one for you, "did you come to this store?" 3. You explain how you dropped off 1 hour ago, were given a 30 minute ETA, went home, came back. 4. You are now looked suspiciously, while getting confirmation from now multiple employees that they did not receive this 5. More shuffling by staff that is looking, while telling you they never got it, while you stand your ground 6. miraculously prescription appears (if you are lucky in one case they completely lost it), they apologize, now you still have to wait to get it filled It's always very frustrating when this happens because when I do need a prescription filled it's because my kids are sick. The normal routine for that is I usually get a call at work from school, leave work pick up kids, go to pediatricians, so by the time all is said and done it's usually evening hours and I have a sick kid at the pharmacy and I am dealing with this stupidity. The usefulness of the drive thru for the most part In my experience is useless. read more

This CVS has a drive thru pharmacy in the rear which is the main reason I come here. There is usually no wait or just a car or two which they move quickly. Lots of parking available also. Pharmacy staff is thorough and knowledgable and don't rush you out if you have questions. They will also call and take care of anything that is an issue with the insurance and the doctor if the medicine needs to be swapped for a generic or another similar product to save you money. They really try to get you the best prescription for your issue with whatever the plan will cover. The automated system notifies you once its ready or you can just hangout in the store and wait. The store itself is spacious and clean. They have everything you normally find in a CVS pharmacy. Get the CVS card for even more discounts at the register. read more

Almost impossible to reach on the phone. Prepare to wait a half hour to get someone to answer your phone call.

It's not just the exterior that's dirty. The store is in disarray with merchandise on the floor and carts full of merchandise blocking aisles. The pharmacy staff is rude, perhaps overworked and understaffed. Why get your prescriptions here when you can go to any one of an independent drug store and them without a long wait. Most frustrating is trying to reach the pharmacy by phone. It's almost impossible. You go through a long series of recorded prompts and advertisements for products you don't need, and then you wait while awful music plays and you wait and wait and wait. Good luck. This is a decent size CVS. They have renovated and it seems like they discontinued some of their products. The reps are very friendly and nice. One late night I had an associate follow me to the back pf the store. I got my chips and doubled back to the register. I have been going to this store way before he even filled out an application. That is the only negative experience I have ever had. They have a drive thru prescription window which is convenient. I have also used their curbside which is a joke. I went to the drive-thru window to pick up a prescription. No one was ahead of me. The woman at the window told me they were closed from 1:30-2:00 for lunch. It was 1:30. Thinking she meant the drive-thru, I parked and went inside, where a different woman at the counter told me the pharmacy was closed for lunch. So here we have someone at the window and someone at the counter and the pharmacist was also there, but I can't get my prescription. I worked in a store for many years and I understand that everyone deserves a lunch, but then CLOSE THE WINDOW, PUT A SIGN ON THE COUNTER AND LEAVE. If there are three people standing IN THE PHARMACY, there is no excuse for telling me that no one will hand me my pills for another half hour. Well if you have been in one CVS you have basically seen them all . The layout and items are the same . This here in Montclair is a 24hr cvs which is good to have in case of a need for something in the wee hours of the night but the Pharmacy is only open until a certain time. But you can still shop through out the rest of the store 24hrs. BUYER BEWARE---5 times or more in the last few months I happen to notice that I was over charged, paying regular price for items when advertised sale price was in effect. Then today I noticed again I was overcharged against the sale price displayed beneath the product. Different from previously, this time they failed to remove the displayed sales price that ended 4 days ago. When I went back this wasn't the only displayed sales price that was expired. Multiply my experience by all those who don't bother to check their receipts---I don't! The only reason I caught these was that at these times I had only purchased 1 or two items and the mistakes(?) of CVS were relatively easy to detect. CVS will tell you that they don't have enough staff and have been trying hard to hire new personnel. Check online what CVS pays the employees and ergo the real problem why they can't get people to work for them! Regardless, I recommend vigilance when you venture to shop at CVS! PS... A caveat for my review is that staff is always polite, professional and willing to listen to complaints, the problem is at the corporate level! read more

This CVS is larger than the Bloomfield Ave. store, which is a plus. Yet, like the Montclair Bloomfield Ave.location, I have had frustrations with pricing issues. My father and I lugged multiple cases of water up to the front register, only to be told that they were not on sale. After I protested that the sales tag was still on the items, the sales clerk said "Oh, well we sometimes don't get to removing sales cards". According to the same clerk, the sale was over a few days old. The only other item in the cart, a bag of chips, was also priced incorrectly! Hmm. Most stores that have merchandise labeled incorrectly will usually honor price listed. However, this stubborn group assumes you will be able to decipher between real sales and expired sales. It gets 2 stars for being convenient to my home, open 24 hours, and having really nice, helpful staff members monitoring the self check out stations. As others have mentioned, it's pretty run down inside. And if you need help from a cashier, good luck! Despite there being at least 4 cash registers, I've only ever seen 1 staffed. The line can get very long. Some cashiers have been great, others less so. The cashier on staff today seemed to be truly annoyed that I approached her to ring up my items. When I explained to her that the staff member monitoring the self-help line saw my items and told me to line up for the cashier (b/c one of the items I was purchasing had been causing problems at the self-help), the cashier told me to go back to the self-help line. Not only was it annoying to be bounced back and forth between the self-help and non-self-help registers, but the cashier couldn't have cared less, wasn't nice about it. On the other hand, the staff member on the self-help line was truly trying to be helpful and I appreciated her greatly. Also - there weren't very many customers in the store when I went, yet there were no baskets for me to carry my items as I shopped. Often hard get through to pharmacy. Called three times today to order urgent refill, only to get automated message for the last three hours stating unable to connect to pharmacy or store manager. Medical and customer service severely lacking, bordering on negligence, precluding pharmacy access to Physicians or patients. I am both a physician and a patient. read more

I can't speak about the pharmacy because I don't use it. Nai made some great points about the store. There is a tall manager with glasses who follows me around the store too. This is incredibly rude! There are more subtle ways to look for a shop lifter. Perhaps the staff can be trained in alternative methods.Since the Pathmark left, price gouging has taken full advantage of the poor! I was in the store the other day, and didn't have my card. A manager checked me out. You would think he would scan a card and give an old lady a discount. If you know me, you know I love CVS. This particular location is one of the best stores they have. Everything is easy to find and the store has enough space to move around comfortably (compared to the one on Bloomfield Ave in Montclair). The staff here is extremely courteous and always willing to help out in finding anything and checking the back for me if something is not on the shelf. They are also very good about correcting mistakes when extra care bucks don't print. Speaking of extra care bucks, if you have not signed up for this, you should. This is their rewards program - you just need to get one of their cards. You get money back when you buy different items and you can use the rewards as cash for your next purchase. Back to the store... they carry just about everything you might need in a pinch and they are open 24 hours. They are located in a great location with easy access from Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, and of course, Montclair. I could go on and on but I think you can see why I gave them 5 stars. This used to be my favorite CVS in the area, but once they redecorated it it seems as there are less things to chose from. Weird. Also, people that worked there before were very nice and helpful, can't say the same about the ones currently working at this store. I sometimes have to go to CVS late in the evening and almost every time I get a mean look or am ignored by the girls at the registers. I try going to self-check out registers, but they don't always work. Same with the photo machine, it didn't work 3 out of 4 times when I went there to get some prints. They used to have lots of great sales and deals, but it seems as they do less of those too nowadays and things I was able to get cheaper once in a while are now regular price at all times. Which is ok, but it was nice to get them for less before :) Pharmacy drive through is awesome and they have great prices for lots of meds that I had to get on prescription without my insurance. For example pills that Wallgreens wanted $70 for - CVS charged only $21. Big parking and 24/7 are a huge plus. read more
