I have never written a review of any pharmacy before. I have been using CVS pharmacy in Irvine for years. However, I recently needed to fill a prescription at CVS in Laguna Beach. Normally there is a long wait to both hand in your script and an even longer wait to receive what you need. In this case it took me exactly 2 minutes to submit my script and I was greeted by an extremely nice woman who was extremely kind. She said my prescription would be ready in 15 minutes and I said I would pick it up the next morning. So I show up the next morning and it takes me 3 minutes to get my medicine...and better yet the same smiling, extremely nice lady was there, back at work after not having many hours off. She was kind, prompt, courteous and it changed my view of having go to to a pharmacy. Very impressed!! read more

This is always been my favorite place to shop near my home. They have everything I need almost and the employees are very nice. I have always thought the rooftop would be a wonderful place for Wyland to display his Beautiful whale art. Did they read my earlier review? I dunno, but things around these parts have improved considerably and consistently. Customer service is close to top notch these days, particularly when I factor in what these pharmacists have to deal with from cranky or confused (as if insurance wasn't confusing enough already, welcome to the world of Obamacare Mass Confusion) customers. I am certain of this because I am usually behind at least one of each of these customers in my waiting line on each visit. I am giving less than 5 stars because some of the pharmacists come across as less than warm; and although I know it is not their job to be touchy-feely, I do wish they'd take a lesson from a couple of their friendlier, more experienced cohorts, like Suzi (who even remembers my name). When I have questions/issues, these are the people who take their time with me and make me feel as if they are truly concerned. When I don't need extra service, it's nice to just get eye contact, a smile, and a warm "hello". When I walk out of a store, after waiting in a long line, and I feel good anyway, that business did something right. Bottom line: Customer service matters. read more

i rarely write reviews - actually I never have - for a pharmacy or drug store of this size. But the manager here is the bomb. i purchased some headphones and, thinking I'd only be staying there for a day or two, threw away the receipt and the packaging when i opened them. the next day they broke. i took them back expecting a 'sorry, we need the receipt or at least the box' type of response, I was not at all hopeful of getting any sort of refund. But the staff's attitude was remarkable and they exchanged them without even blinking. It was an amazing experience and alone that was worth giving them five stars for. read more

The people at the pharmacy here are less than helpful. Had to get a prescription filled while on vacation here and they made it incredibly difficult, claiming they never got it and I must be in the wrong location when they in fact did have it all along. I needlessly called my doctors office twice to ask them about it because the staff swore I was wrong and that they were right. Ending up getting my prescription filled, just way more hassle than I wanted. Totally killed my vacation vibe. read more

This CVS location has so many bad reviews, but my issue is really a company-wide problem. Cannot do a return without a receipt - but can get a "money card" UNLESS you are using a passport for ID (like if you accidentally left your drivers license at the guard station of your parents' community). If you use a passport for ID, the register prints a "cannot refund this item" tape. On my original purchase the day before, the register paper was just replaced incorrectly so the part of my receipt that is required for returns didn't print. It's archaic that my credit card and/or membership card cannot pull up the purchase. The receipt did have a tally of my membership card tally. One of the employees went to the records from the day before and couldn't find my purchase. I had timing down to a 10 minute frame and knew exactly which register I used. CVS is going to administer the coveted Covid-19 vaccination??? Really?? When something as simple as a functioning POS system is not in place, how on earth will CVS receive, store and effectively administer the precious vaccine? And able to follow up for the second one? Yikes - foreshadowing - beware. read more

This is the WORSE CVS!!! They are very understocked and the people who work there are slow, unhelpful and rude. It is very worth your time to drive a little farther to Monarch Beach and go to the CVS in the Gelson's shopping center. Trust me, you will most likely waste MORE time at this location and end up just driving to Monarch Beach anyway!!! read more

After being sick for a week with a terrible cough I had to go to my local cvs for a rx for cough syrup. The staff at the pharmacy helped me over the phone and when I arrived they were so helpful and polite. Very impressed with the pharmacy staff I will switch from rite aid who left me on hold forever and couldn't even tell me if they had the medicine, cvs tech looked it up for me no problem and told me it was in stock so I didn't have to drive all over the place. read more

Great store. The staff is courteous and they have everything you'd expect or need from a pharmacy. Store manager is nice. No complaints.

This CVS is located in a cute little area in Laguna, however, do not let be deceived by the charming location; the character of the employee that I encountered was enough to make me leave feeling insulted and extremely unlikely to ever return to this CVS store - drive the extra few miles to rite-aid, unless, however, you enjoy being belittled for your appearance and intelligence made by pure assumption. I came in around 11am on Tuesday June 13th right before a little day trip to the beach. I decided to pick up a nice drink (alcoholic beverage) that my friend and I could enjoy. I proceeded to stand in line and the man who helped me (an older man on the third register from my right) greeted me, then changed his demeanor as soon as he saw the alcohol I was purchasing. Granted, I do look quite young for my age, though, I believe everyone should be treated with equal respect regardless of their appearance. I had my ID out in the counter and the cashier looked at it for at least a minimum of 20-30 seconds (which would seem like enough time to validate the age on the ID). He then looked me in the eye and condescendingly said to me "I can tell you aren't 21". Taken aback I responded with a confused "what?" to which I then relayed to him the date I was born in. He then took a few seconds and said "oh I guess it's not 2016". This man made me feel extremely belittled, embarrassed and insulted. He made an assumption about me based on my appearance, and treated me as if I were trying to "pull one over" on him. There are multiple ways that this situation could have been handled in a much more positive way, yet unfortunately it was beyond poorly handled. Perhaps employees should be trained on how to use a calculator if it is difficult to subtract the birth year on an ID from the current year. Or, maybe a calendar with the current year would be handy so as to keep everyone up to date with the year we are in. Perhaps, and probably most ideally, employees should be given a seminar on how to treat people with common courtesy, respect, and problem solving skills so that situations need not be escalated based on poor methods of dealing with situations such as assumptions. The pharmacy has REALLY gone DOWNHILL. All of the new employees working in there (including the new manager) are EXTREMELY rude, crappy customer service, and do NOT know how to prioritize customers (in person or on the phone). I have gone here for years and cannot believe the incompetence. More than once I have had them give me the incorrect amount of pills (missing from the bottle) and have gotten attitude when confronting the situation. They want to argue with you instead of help. The ONLY reason why I am giving two stars is because Tom and Suzy are the ONLY ones who go above and beyond. When they are not there, NOTHING runs smoothly, the phones do NOT get answered, and the lines are ridiculous because the new pharmacists (including the new manager), have NO IDEA how to prioritize. read more

CVS Pharmacy is the best! I can't say enough kind words about the pharmacists and the staff that work there. The pharmacist actually saved my mom's life when he caught an error on a prescription where the doctor ordered 2 of the same types of heart medications. This is by far the WORST CVS PHarmacy I have ever experienced in my life. I have been picking up prescriptions for my mom and myself over the last 15 years at Savons in North OC and once in awhile, we may run in to problems with getting approval from doctors but they take care of us immediately and swiftly and my mom never had to miss any medications. CVS in Laguna beach has the worse system/process or whatever they go by - I have not once walked out of there picking up a monthly prescription for myself or my mom without having to go through the same "loss" reaction from their pharmacists. Almost every time they won't have the prescription and each time they would ask me to put it on monthly refills but each month, they would come up with something that failed the refilled. They will messed up between an old prescription for my mom to the newest ones and they are rude about it when you chase them down to follow up 2 days later. They blame everything on 1) doctor; 2) my mom; 3) insurance 4) me and never THEM. I walk out of there frustrated each and every time and my husband has the same experience when picking up prescription for me or him or for the kids. My mom's monthly prescription is due every 5th of the month...the LAST 11 MONTHS have been the SAME... we have yet to get it right once. Today is the 10th and guess what? 1 was only able to obtain 1 of the 4 prescriptions... the other 3 each have their set of issues that the pharmacists said to me, I couldn't understand half of the things she said and she really didn't solve my problem or even apologized. I've gotten flu shots there with no problem and the service in the past has been good however, I've noticed a significant drop recently. The final straw was picking up a prescription that had been called in 2 days earlier by my doctor. As I was about to pay, the young clerk said, "did they tell you the prescription isn't covered by insurance?" Uh, no. I asked how much it was and her answer--I'm not kidding--was nearly four hundred dollars! Usually, an experienced pharmacy staff member will call the patient and let them know or call the doctor's office so a generic can be supplied. Did anyone from CVS call me or the doctor's office? Nope. It's like they just hoped I'd fork over the money. I was so shocked, I just left. CVS has had some problems recently with their business practices so I guess I shouldn't be surprised but honestly, I was. I expected better. I won't be going back there. BTW, the doctor's office said this is a common drug and a generic is available as well as alternatives but since the pharmacy didn't bother to call them, they did not know anything about what was happening. IMHO they seem to put profits above their customers. read more
