It should come as no surprise, this CVS isn't going to win any awards for anything. Even the semi-recent renovations, it's dated and cramped, and far from the ideal store that many have come to hate (#1). The one redeeming thing is that it's centrally located here along Holcombe with barely anyone in it, leaving me to get-in and out without much fuss. During the daytime, the parking is horrendous. Finding a spot in this plaza is already difficult given that Common Bond and a few other businesses have this area slammed at any point of the week. Additionally, the pharmacy is usually pretty busy here and the associates will freely ask for people's personal info loud enough to where anyone in line can pick up on it. The pharmacy is open until 8pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends. There is no drive-thru. The store is not that big. Which means inventory for things might be limited. I've also noticed that service is almost non-existent here, mainly because the staff is a skeleton crew almost all the time. It's so bare that most folks at this point are doing self-checkout rather than being serviced at the counter. The people traffic is minimal, so there are never any lines. Come here if you must, but know there's better locations that are actually nearby. They have 24 hour pharmacies, a bigger parking lot, a friendlier crew of staff members, and more of everything available. ____________ (#1) And occasionally love. read more

It's ok. Employees greet you when you walk in but sometimes they're hard to fine when you need something or if there's an issue with self check out they can be right there chatting but it help. And then other times they are a great help. So it's a mixed bag here. No issues with the pharmacy. They try to move fast. read more

Not to be confused with CDS which have been phased out now, sadly. I miss cassettes even more to some degree. This is yet another expensive CVS near the medical center, and we usually come to this one when we go to the vet or when we are at Rice Village. It's not my favourite by any stretch of the imagination, and I think it could be better on some levels, but they do a pretty decent job, and it's not bad despite itself. read more

Dropped off a prescription at 1:05, they told me they were going ok their 1:30 break took the RX and told me it would be ready at 2:30. Didn't ask for my name, number, date of birth etc. I come back at 2:30 and they hadn't started it because they didn't have the needed information to create a profile to fill the RX. It's been 40 min and I'm still waiting. They should hand out Xanax in their waiting room to alleviate the stress they cause. read more

I came in to ask about my son's arm he's 18 months old and something bit him last night and caused big swelling. The pharmacist asked me if I had a question from her bench 2-3 meters away from where I was and I was so confused why she didn't come. I waited for her to come but she was expecting me to ask my question out loud I front of other customers loudly. This is the closest CVS to me and it's open 24 hours. There's always a lot of parking for this location. But the reason I am reviewing this is for their online photo print option. I recently needed some hard print photos and do not have a photo printer. A friend told me you can sign up onto CVS' website and upload your pictures directly there and then choose your location to have them printed. I followed the easy directions and sure enough the photos were ready the next morning. The pictures turned out great! Clear just like normal developed photos. With the use of digital photography and online uploads it seems that hard print photos are a thing of the past. However, I am glad If I do need some quick this is the place to go. Also the prices are cheap, 19 cents a photo. I think you do have to reach at least 5 dollars though. read more

I will ONLY go here to fill my prescriptions. I've Made the mistake in the past to check out and no one seems to have any perception of time. Workers will have 5 minute conversations with a customer when there is clearly a line. They take ages to ring up items. Listen, if you aren't pressed for time and want to have a relaxing morning, afternoon, evening at CVS to just hanging out in line and passing the time, catch up on your social media, maybe even twiddle your thumbs, go for it. I recently moved and transferred prescription. No one called me to tell me that my prescription was on back order. Only way I found out was by going on the app. Other CVS's have in stock. Guy wasn't polite and hung up quickly after telling me to call in my prescription elsewhere. Had been on hold for 20 min. Never at any other CVS have I had this kind of service. The store is good but the pharmacy overcharges by a large amount. I used the pharmacy a few years ago when I did not have insurance but stopped using them when I found out they were charging 20-30% more than the Walgreens a few blocks away. I recently tried using them again but this time with insurance and they wanted to charge me 5 times as much copay as I had been paying at Walgreens for the same drug. The store is located in an expensive neighbourhood so I guess their customers do not notice how much they overcharge. read more

This place is a run-down dump.. That about sums it up, but I'll go into a little more detail for those that want it.. It's just plain dirty and I'd be afraid to buy anything not packaged well.. I just swung in to get something to drink before a meeting. As I checked out I asked if they had a restroom to use, they were polite enough to allow me to use the customer restroom... WOW - It was nasty... The top half of the toilet tank was cracked off and filled with coffee looking water, the rest of the bathroom was in similar, dis-repair. Just changing the carpet and giving this store a deep cleaning would make a world of difference.... Won't be back unless I'm in dire need for something and everything thing else is closed read more

Love this pharmacy! Everyone is super helpful and they really do a good job of keeping your private information confidential, even when it's very busy. I appreciate the timely filling, the customer service, and the care they take of making sure my prescriptions are in stock before I come to the pharmacy to pick up. I really recommend filling your prescriptions here. Even though cvs is a huge chain, I know I can count on the pharmacists and techs to make my time here feel like a family run business. This is the worst CVS Pharmacy I have seen so far. I was traveling from Austin and wanted to stop by and get some snacks and also go to the restroom. Surprisingly enough the bathroom had no toilet paper, no soap and no paper towel. The toilet was so dirty that even the flush knob of the water tank had shit on that. Extra star for being close. Otherwise it's a one. It's a basic CVS, but at this one the employees run on two speeds: slow and sloooowwwwwwwweeerrrr. And we've also had the following experiences, highlighting : Experience # 1 - "Yo lock up the door. I told you to lock it. Well now I need you to get me some change. That's why I wanted you to lock it. I'm out of change." Explanation: This CVS is no longer 24 hours. Guy behind the counter was trying to get the shift manager to lock the doors early because he had run out of change in his drawer. It was twenty minutes before closing time. We wandered around the store for fun just to make him wait to check us out. Yes we can be mean like that. They promptly locked the doors after we left, still a good five minutes before they were supposed to close. Experience # 2 - Same cashier. "Hey guys. Our system's down. Even the registers in the pharmacy. We're probably going to have to just close. So..." Experience # 3 - We'd like to develop these pictures for one hour photo. Takes forever to put into the system (she was running on the latter speed). "So, our machines are down, is it fine to get you these in a day or two?" It's a special CVS that is for sure. read more

How is it that every drug store feels like an old K-mart? And if you liked or like K-mart then you will be in heaven here. Always way too many fluorescent lights. I get it you want to have a good eye on us and make sure nobody steals anything. But wow it's super bright in here. The service is always the same. You ask where is the ... and they say with a mild frustration and half hearted pointing gesture, "it's down there by aisle twenty three B...." You look up to find the numbers one through ten. Thanks dude. Ill figure it out from here. In a place where the only thing that matters is customer service this place lacks. I don't have a better option around this CVS sadly except maybe Target which is a far cry from amazing but it's better than CVS. read more

The prices are like walgreens, which means they are higher than places like walmart and HEB. But it is located near my house and they are open 24 hours.... So that is a plus. read more

I expect so much more from this pharmacy especially it being in the medical center. I waited 19 minutes to find out if my prescription was actually sent over. I especially do this if a loved one or my self are in need of this medicine. I've had prior incidents where I show up thinking they've receive my prescriptions and they haven't. This time I actually walked in and 19 minutes later the pharmacists answers the phone while I'm looking right at him. I let him know I'm here already and I've been waiting 19 minutes for you to answer the phone just to find out if you received my prescriptions. Seriously just hire more people. You have one pharmacy tech and one pharmacist. You are drowning and can't even answer the phone. Had I know before I started driving here just to figure out if you had the script that it would be 30 minutes because you couldn't answer the phone I would have gone home and left my sick gf and came back my self. Now we are sitting here waiting just to make sure you don't screw around anymore and give me the prescription. CVS you need to do better. Expect to wait FOREVER in line if you come here to shop. During the day, they seem to only have one person working the register and this is during the high traffic time. At nigt it's okay but come ON! They're located in the Medical Center, everyones gets off of work around 4pm and yet they have one person working the register at that time. Transferred a prescription from MDAnderson to this CVS online. Or at least I thought I did. Waited for announcement of the prescription being filled - no text or email. Finally called them and it sounded like no one had read in that day's transferred prescriptions from the online queue. Said "well could you please expedite?" "Yes ma'am, we'll have it done in two hours." Called back couple hours later. "Oh they didn't have that drug but they should have it in tomorrow afternoon." Communication skills are zip. And they don't seem to prioritize keeping the customer informed. Now wished we'd picked a different CVS or maybe even left it at MDA. read more

I went in to drop of my daughter's post op prescriptions, with my daughter waiting in the car. The pharmacist engaged in a personal conversation with the gentleman in front of me, trying to figure out where she knew him from. When I gently asked if I could simply give her my daughter's prescriptions, she yelled at me to get back in line or she wouldn't help me at all. Mind you, we came straight from the hospital to drop off the prescriptions so I'm trying to get back to my daughter (who is sleeping in the car) as quickly as I can. I was extremely disappointed with the attitude of the pharmacist and service we received. If it hadn't been necessary to come to this location I would have. Would not recommend getting your prescriptions filled here. There is a time a place for personal conversations, but the pharmacy drop off window is not the time or place for them. read more

I visited this location and was very impressed with the employee named Angel. She was very friendly, and checked all of my products to make sure they had not expired. She had a very caring, sweet demeanor that was quite unexpected from a retail cashier. read more

CVS Pharmacy: Always A Bad Experience. I strive never to do business with a CVS Pharmacy because they specialize in hiring incompetent employees with poor communication skills and very low energy, but this location was the only pharmacy in my area with my prescription at hand. Shocking, I know, since they are always out of anything else you might need, so I bit the bullet and had it filled here. My regular pharmacist called it in at 3 pm and was told it would be ready by 4 pm. At 4:30 I went by, stood in front of an empty register for 10 minutes without being acknowledged in any way by any employee while they milled around in the back and refused eye contact, only to be told it wasn't ready yet. Although that's not even what was said. The employee said "we don't have your prescription yet". I finally figured out it wasn't ready, as opposed to what it sounded like, which was that they physically did not have the prescription from Randall's, and the reason was because "people are getting off work now and we are backed up and there are others in front of you". Yeah...but it was called in at 3. We're people getting off work then? See what I mean? Don't waste your time here. Everyone around me was being told "it's not ready yet" or "we are out of that". Try the Randall's Pharmacy a few blocks down. Much less busy and much smarter employees. read more
