Not only has CVS closed a number of stores for falling sales (no doubt in part to customer service), getting a couple scripts right seems to require moving mountains. I ordered a bottle of shampoo online from CVS, pay for it, said we'd be in the next morning to pick it up which wife did. It turns out they didn't have the shampoo I ordered, so they substituted something entirely different. So I called the store, explained my situation, and was given over to "the big boss." Big boss was neither polite, helpful, or the least bit courteous. He asked if I had a receipt. I had the bag the shampoo came in but there was no receipt in the bag. I told him we picked this up from you this morning and it's the wrong product. Can you not manage your website? Do you not have it people? Do you have stock people that can interface with the IT department? "We're sorry we can't help you," Boss said. Quite honestly I wouldn't step foot in a CVS pharmacy again unless I needed a medication and Walgreens was completely out. Even then, I would do so reluctantly. read more

Had to pick up a few things before a last minute medical procedure. Always a great place to get last minute items. While they don't have everything Walgreens has, they have a lot. It's nice they are open 24 hrs. read more

I have used the CVS Pharmacy at Clavey Road for 24 years, and have never found the pharmacists or staff to be anything but kind, helpful, and professional. Most of the staff have worked there for years, and know me from my frequent use of the pharmacy. I am reading reviews on this site that say, erroneously, that there is a lot of turnover of staff, rudeness, incompetence and other negative things. I have never found any of these, and consider it my neighborhood pharmacy. I understand that at this time, all pharmacies are feeling understaffed and people talk about the stress. But my experience is that if you are kind yourself, patient when need be, and treat people with respect and dignity, they will treat you with the same manner. I have found everyone there to always help me with what I need. Yes, I have had to wait occasionally when they are busy, but I don't find that to be a personal problem! I think that if your opinion is otherwise, find another place to shop! read more

The worst pharmacy with which I have had the misfortune of dealing. They're barely functional. Always rude. To get the right meds, within a reasonable amount of time (sometime within 2 weeks of requesting a refill) is not something you can expect from them on any regular basis. read more

They need to hire more pharmacists and/or pharmacy helpers. I've never been in and out under 10 mins with this pharmacy. They closed the CVS on Park and Skokie and since then we've had to use this one. It's constantly a 20-30 min wait standing in line to be helped and god forbid you use the drive thru. I hate to say it but I may just have to switch back to Walgreens. read more

Sure, it's CVS, but I was terribly surprised by all the horrible reviews, so I thought I would take a stand and support my corner drugstore. I don't know about the pharmacy, because it's been a few years since I've had to pick up a prescription (CVS cancelled their prescription program with BCBS). What I do like about CVS is this. It's always well stocked (sorry, no TP if you're wondering). They have the best seasonal aisles. I was able to pick up milk ($1 more than grocery store, but a $1 went to my reward points) there. They always have all the essentials at this location, and I've even purchased printer ink in a complete panic. There seems to have been a bit of employee turnover, or I'm coming at unusual times), but even so, the customer service is always friendly (sometimes friendlier than the customers). I was so grateful for the fact that floors were taped off with 6' markers, the cashiers had masks and gloves, and I felt like these guys are taking the current state of emergency quite seriously. I have never left a review on Yelp, but my experience at this CVS was awful enough to demand one. Note that this review is for the pharmacy at 1539 Clavey Road in Highland Park only; it does not apply to the store nor does it apply to the Minute Clinic. Pharmacy employees at this location are unspeakably atrocious. They are rude, brusque, impolite, and unprofessional. And I stress that this is a pattern. I won't go into all of the details of my interaction with the pharmacy today--to do nothing but retrieve two medications filled earlier in the week--but I will say that I will never set foot in this store again, ever, for any reason. I am aware that pharmacy employees are under pressure and have been involved (whether here or elsewhere) in labor strife. That is not an excuse to treat customers of the store outrageously. If a pharmacist or a pharmacy tech cannot deal with the public in a pleasant, efficient, professional manner, or speak to customers with simple professionalism--even if the counter area is loud because the drive-thru was inexplicably closed--that person should find a new kind of employment. (Target in Highland Park offers a starting wage to stockists and cashiers that would be competitive with the scale offered by CVS to pharmacy techs.) I'll be crystal clear: I do not expect a CVS pharmacy to provide me with the highlight of my day. I do expect to be talked to kindly and certainly without contempt. I do not expect to be called names. I do not expect to be threatened with a call to the police. (For what, exactly?) My suggestion is that you have your prescriptions filled at another CVS store (there is at least one other pharmacy in Highland Park), or better still, at another pharmacy chain in the area. There are several others whose employees are not a disgrace to themselves or to their employer. read more

They follow you around the store here, this happens frequently. So much that I stopped going. No kidding, I come in at 7AM and Maria is straightening up the vitamins next to me. I move to the candy aisle, she just start straightening stuff, I go to the nuts, she's magically just straightening up stuff. Doesn't ask me if I need help, but starts to get super friendly when she rings me up. I reported this to CVS corporate once, no one cared. read more

The good(ish): It's open 24/7 There's a Minute Clinic. There's different sorts of drugstore cosmetics here than at Walgreens or low end grocery stores. I think this place has a big selection of Rimmel and NYX. Also they have a lot of nail stuff. A largish selection of travel size items. Bad(ish): The prices hunny. They are so out of touch with reality. I could list what they charge for a box of cereal or can of condensed soup or salsa. But instead I'll just drop this here. The bottles of 20oz soda, iced t, and water cost more than 40s. Let me get this straight. The plain old water cost more than beer or malt liquor. Child I can't. And a teeny aside the Minute Clinic is no great draw the one time I went to one for a flu they did nothing and charged over a hundred and other times when I've had bites they refused me. Also, no cash back rewards on purchases w card i think. The weird(ish): Last time i was there an employee came up to me and said he remembered me from a different cvs that I went to. Ten years ago. In a very busy location. It's always nice to know when I've bought midol or coffee filters in college i made a big impression. read more

You know those CVS commercials where they say "It's not CVS, its (insert name here)'s pharmacy?" Well that is absolutely true here. The pharmacy staff has bent over backwards helping us with tricky, tricky, tricky specialty pharmacy orders, acting as a liaison to the insurance company, drug company, doctor and anyone else putting in their two cents on my son's very expensive, difficult to obtain prescriptions. National shortages of the drug? Somehow they manage to STILL get it done for us, and processes a multiple payor reimbursement system with a smile instead of an eye roll. Need something pushed through on a vacation override? Still... no problem, they figure it out for you. They are so good that I find myself wondering if they have really been replaced by pod people? Do they go home from their commute to a small town known as Stepford?....hmmmm. Even more amazing? They treat the $15 dollar prescription with as much care as the $3k one. Really. I know first hand. Jenna is my hero. These guys ROCK. If you are looking for a pharmacy staff that knows their stuff, are friendly and helpful, look no further. And oh, btw, the minute clinic rocks too. As the mom, I NEVER get sick. Well, yeah I do, but never have the time to get into my own doctor... and for minor stuff, they really do a fab job. I did have to go in late on a Friday for something more serious, and hoping to avoid urgent care, and they still did great. GET THIS, the nurse even checked on me the following day. Really? This is one of the most uncorporate, corporate businesses I have ever experienced. Staffed by real people who really care. What a gem. read more

Hey... I haven't been to this CVS in a while. I was blown over when I walked in. They redid the whole thing and it looks pretty darn good. While I am not particularly impressed with the CVS pharmacy, I do think this store is fairly well organized in that department. They also had well stocked shelves and everything was easy to find. It's right off 41/Edens so it's easy to get there. They built another one right up the road on 41 and Park Ave, so I think this one may be losing business. This location's claim to fame is that it's open 24 hours, and has a super Minute Clinic. The best place in town to go when you need a flu shot. They usually have a good selection of things like suncreen and bug spray. CVS own products are good quality-I've recently switched to their allergy/decongestant medicine for my allergies. read more

ahh. cvs, how I love thee! let me count the ways! 1. extra care bucks! that's $1 in $ you can spend @ cvs for every $1 you spend there! translation: when vitamins, cough and cold remedies are on mad sale & you stock up, the little cash register spits out lovely coupons ($5 off $20, etc) and cvs bucks in a roughly equal amount to what you've spent! FYI: they have super good sales on random things, like cashews and tide. read more

This rating is not for the store but for the clinic. On Saturday at 5:15PM, I got there and there was a closed sign on the door. I knocked and this gentleman opened the door and said they were already closed, I asked him why, since the sign says 5:30. He said he had to do paperwork. I came back the next day because I knew that I had a serious infection that was most likely strep throat. He took a culture and said I did not have strep and the only thing he could give me was some lidocaine gel for the sore throat. The following day I went to a real doctor who confirmed it was actually strep and a URI. I was not looking to score some great pain pills I just wanted an antibiotic. Will never go there again or ever recommend the place to anyone again. read more

i went into this location on december 8 and the pharmacist took my prescription and filled it/ went back on january 7 2018 and gave them a new prescription that had the same medication/ well to my disbelief upon returning home i realize that the pharmacist on december 8 2017 gave me the wrong medication/....i called the store the next day and asked them why was my medication different even though the prescription was prescribed the same way both times and they told me it was a over sight/ i asked them did they give me the wrong medicine and they finally said yessssssssssss..... i advise everyone that is using this cvs to check their prescription...this could of been different as i write/...basically they could have killed me...smh and waiting to see what cvs is going to do /,,,,stay tuned! I have used this CVS pharmacy for years and my experience has been so-so. But the last experience I had with them : They accused me of forging my doctor's prescription pad and would not fill my necessary medication...it is a NORMAL prescription pad that my doc has! I had the doc on the phone but they refused to talk to him, they said they would call him tomorrow. I went all the way BACK to my doc, got another script...this time - new staff was there that was alerted about me and before I could open my mouth - they said they would not fill my script until speaking with the doc tomorrow ( I needed it tonight) without even LOOKING at the script! They out right accused me of photocopying the script pad! I asked for it back so I could take my business elsewhere - it took them 5 minutes of arguing with me and threatening to call my doc ( PLEASE DO!)...I finally got it back, took it to another pharmacy and there were NO PROBLEMS! The staff here are rude, red flag you for nothing, do not know how to treat the customers in the pharmacy with respect and out right treated me and talked to and TOLD me I forged my script pad!!!! Could I give zero stars?? ALWAYS act hassled, busy. ALWAYS understaffed. Have almost never been here without having a difficult experience. Would be nice if they seemed to care about customers who aren't feeling well (usually the main reason people need prescriptions anyway, right???)...Some of them have such heavy accents it is hard to understand a word they say. Awful pharmacists and technicians, they do not know what they are doing. Messed up address, prescriptions (multiple times), many of my physicians have had to call and fax in prescriptions multiple times. They lose, misplace and report mis-information. Terrible customer service skills. It's like they don't like coming to work everyday and it shows with their personalities. I have no confidence in them whatsover. We have switched everything over to Walgreens. read more

This is truly the best pharmacy that is out by my house. The great thing about this store is that is open 24hrs. If you need any toiletries to go on a trip, home, or college (like me!) this place is very accessible and has a great selection of products. In addition, I am also very fond of their Minute Clinic. Instead of paying a fortune for shots at the doctor's office, I can go here and get them and only wait about 5 to 15 minutes depending on what time of day you go. For flu shots especially early in the morning at 8:30 am when the minute clinic opens is the best time to go. No one is their! Lastly, since I had such a bad experience with Walgreens, I get all of my prescriptions filled here. The pharmacists generally are very knowledgeable and always get my prescriptions filled on time. In addition, if there is a problem such as my insurance won't cover the medicine on a certain month or something the pharmacists will call me up and let me know about it before I come in and pick up my medicine. read more
