C.V.S is my favorite place for getting school supplies. It's great because you can get candy, nails, school supplies, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The nails are very pretty. They have marble, glittery nails and a lot of others. C.V.S has outstanding services like a picture station. It has magazines to look at while you are standing in line. C.V.S has great workers who help you out. There is also a pharmacy that you get your medical things. I came to fill a Paxlovid prescription. I'm high-risk for severe COVID and a caregiver to an immunosuppressed 91-year-old. The pharmacist quoted me $1,000, then $800 with Medicare. I walked out without the medication because I couldn't justify the cost. What no one mentioned: a government program provides Paxlovid free to Medicare and Medicaid patients who meet certain conditions. I qualify. Paxlovid must be started within 5 days of symptoms. A high-risk Medicare patient who can't afford $800 may simply go without -- which is exactly what almost happened. Pharmacists have a professional obligation to counsel patients on their options. That didn't happen here. If you're on Medicare or Medicaid, ask about the Patient Assistance Program before paying a cent or walking away. read more

When I call CVS HMB, I get an AI Assistant. I follow the prompts, and they say my prescription is ready for refill but at a different CVS. I need to get it filled here, but whoever answers the phone and works the desk can't find the prescription at all. They don't seem to care when I tell them the AI Assistant can find it. I went through 3-4 rounds of phone calls yesterday where I was told they couldn't refill it until today, but they'd leave a note to fill it. Now the next day 2 people working there tell me they can't find the prescription at all and they won't talk to me anymore. I need to call the prescriber. Horrible! And I feel bad my friend went out of her way because I believed they'd gave the prescription ready. read more

Based on the other 1-star reviews for CVS Half Moon Bay, I think the pharmacy is purposely mistreating customers to reduce traffic there. We used to pretend the blender was broken at the ice cream shop when I was 16, but these are adults here. I come in regularly to the pharmacy. If I'm the only one in line, the pharmacist and tech ignore me. There was a time the pharmacist grabbed my phone to rate one of the techs for good service, filling it out for me. One time the tech stood in front of me waiting for me to interrupt her reading so I could finish my transaction and leave. The last time I was there same tech also flattered me, then turned around and called me stupid to the wall. Get a new job, girlie. 0-10. I went to pick up a prescription at 5:45 pm tonight. The line was lengthy and some customers were picking up multiple prescriptions which was taking a long time. I had a mobile pickup so was able to skirt the other line and was very impressed by the two woman pharmacy clerks managing long mobile and non-mobile lines. Despite having only two people, one of the clerks (no name tag or I would call her out!) was hustling and using innovating ways to keep the lines moving. I was so impressed. There were some customers in the non-mobile pick up line who were verbally expressing their irritation yet the two clerks, kept their cool. Thank you CVS. I typically shop @ Rite Aid but sadly that store is closing, so I asked my doc to send an Rx to cvs for me this morning. I went in around 3pm this afternoon to pick up the Rx. The young lady working the pharmacy register was kind , but unable to help me. She sent me to the consult window where the pharmacist shouted to me from across a wall. He was SO rude, had no interest in helping me get my medication, and showed no respect whatsoever for my privacy. Totally unprofessional. I went back across the street to rite aid. Thankfully, the pharmacy tech at rite aid (who has been helping our family for years) was very kind, & refilled my prescription for me. He said there was an insurance hold cuz I was a couple days early on my refill, but he was able to do an override and fill the prescription. I regret asking my doc to send my Rx to cvs. I'll be going to the small HMB pharmacy when rite aid shuts down. Picking up a prescription shouldn't result in so much aggravation. I like to keep my life pretty low-drama! I've never had a problem even 1 time at rite aid, ever .... Then I go to cvs once and I feel traumatized! Total disgrace! If you want to be screamed at by a hangry pharmacist then go here! I was told over the phone to first show up at 130 being their lunch break and called them on it and I was told to come at 1pm to deal with new insurance and pick up my medications. The pharmacist decided it's too close to lunch and he can't do it. I had to leave without medications when I was told exactly what time to show up and get medication and insurance taken care of. HE SCREAMED at me to leave and come back and I said I cannot come back this is why over the phone a plan was made he continues to scream it's lunchtime it's the law. He had 3 minutes by the end of his screaming. I took my insurance card and left. This is not the first time I've had major ISSUE from this pharmacy. As I woman I will not be spoken to by a man like that. I will be transferring my consumership to another pharmacy that respects people and their time. Not just the clock they need to race. Apparently we can no longer avoid the nightmarish self-checkout. Ever since they put them in Phil, the manager, has been aggressively pushing them and arguing with people, asking them to explain why they don't want to use the self-checkout. Hint: I'm not an employee. Trying to embarrass me into saving money on labor doesn't really work. The last time this happened I just said "never mind", left my purchases on the counter, and drove over to Rite Aid. A couple of days ago a friend and I went in to pick up a prescription and some things for a barbecue. There was only one person at the front, and he was checking people out using the self-checkout. My friend would hand him items, he would check them out, then place them in a different area where they kept falling on the floor. My friend was scrambling to grab the floored items and put them in bags as the floor pile kept getting bigger. And our hands were already full with things we were trying to buy. DONT ORDER PHOTOS HERE I placed a large order of photos through CVS online, I've been looking for somewhere new to order photos since Costco has closed and I live around the corner from here so I figured it would be convenient. I went in after the timeslot that they allotted me that they would be ready only to find that my order was halfway printed and came out very pixelated and poor quality. The person at the counter had the audacity to tell me it was my camera (I have an iPhone 14 and was using portrait mode, so there's no way this can be true.) And then put his fingers all over the photos when he was checking them and try to hand them off to me. I told him I would try to come back and speak to a manager another day cause a manager was not on at that time. I came back not once not twice but three times after this and each time I order still was not completed. At the end of the day I'm asking for a refund, but they told me that I have to call the phone number during business hours that I work in order to beg for a refund. Long story short take your business elsewhere, customer service, and quality of photos, turned out poor. read more

It was a super, super busy day. The pharmacist and techs were doing high intensity aerobics to try to fill orders and back orders. Our Rx was due at 5:30pm, but we have a 5 year old who just had surgery that morning and needed the pain medication asap! So they rushed it. There were a lot of people waiting for their prescriptions. The pharmacy team needed to go to lunch but it was like a mob ready to lynch. I really hope they all got a break because they really needed it. It was packed with customers. Not everyone is patient. Understandably. Needing an important prescription is stressful. Got vaccinated here. Staff was professional and pleasant. My shot was not painful at all. Got here early so went across the plaza to have a fish taco at the taqueria. Afterwards shopped for dog treats in the store while I waited the mandatory 15-minutes. All in all a pleasant experience. read more

Their phone system is a complete frustrating mess when you are trying to get to someone in the pharmacy department. No matter what buttons you push, you end up no where and can't even leave a message. I had a very urgent problem with a medication that they caused. The pharmacy manager (John Chau) is extremely rude. He spoke with me in a loud tone of voice from his workstation while continuing to type rather than coming to the counter to speak more privately. It was like my presence as a customer was bothering him! I was desperate for help to care for my elderly mother and wanted to give him our insurance company's phone number, but he replied that CVS has not made phone calls since the 90s. He displayed a total lack of customer service by dismissing me to either pay a huge sum of money despite existence of insurance or leave without the needed prescription. I guess it is the policy of CVS for customers to pay up and go through the hassle of filing an appeal and hopefully receiving a reimbursement weeks or months later. It has been over a week and already fed up with this. My outlook on this company/local store is quickly growing sour. I was having a dental emergency ON VACATION. Worst timing and I was desperate for help. Their minute clinic was so fast and easy to use to get antibiotics for an infection. If that wasn't a relief enough the pharmacy here was so kind and prompt. The pharmacist (unsure of his name) was very diligent and clearly cared about his customers. They have had some staffing issues through covid but this store is reasonably well stocked and the staff are friendly. My prescriptions are sent automatically by my doctors office and they are always ready when a notification comes in. They did a great job administering our covid vaccines. read more

Reading these review, shows how spoiled people can be! True, there is a long line the few times I've there for the pharmacy, but until you been to Walgreens, it's way worse by 10 times! I used to live in alameda for 45 years and every time I go there, it takes 30 mins, before it's my turn, and I'm only 2nd person in line!!!! So even if there's a long at cvs, the line at least moves and even if I'm the 8th or 9th person, it never taken 30 min to wait, with only 2 people in line! So, I'm very grateful the people at the pharmacy for working very hard and efficiently! And as for the person l, who wrote, that she should be served faster, because she makes $140,000/yr, omg, you think you're better than everyone because how much you make!!! The absolute WORST! Every single time I have to go to this pharmacy there is an issue. Every. Single. Time. By and large the staff are rude. I spoke to someone on the phone today and she hung up on me while I was still asking a question. It's so frustrating to have to deal with this type of treatment especially when you are not feeling well to have to deal with this lack of customer service and compassion on top of it is down right unacceptable. I've put up with this for several years out of convenience but I've had it. I'm switching all of my prescriptions to a different pharmacy. When your core competency is to fill/refill prescriptions...and you are unable to consistently do this...Houston, you have a problem. For three years, I was told by CVS, when making somewhat feeble attempts to get refills: "it's expired, we need your doctors approval" (on a new prescription) "Your doctor's phone # has been disconnected" (it wasn't) "Your doctor hasn't sent over a refill auth" (she had) I finally had enough, and switched to Rite-Aid across the street. Where life was good. Until my company changed insurance, and mandated CVS for all prescriptions. So, being a good (albeit sad) corporate citizen, I took my two month old prescription (which would expire 10/30/2014) to CVS to transfer. And shockingly, got the prescription with no problems! Woooowwwwwww..... Until today, when I go to renew, and see that they changed the expiration date to the day they refilled. And, of course, that wasn't their fault. I am NOT kidding you on this. It wasn't their fault. So I called my doc, got a refill of my refill, and tried again. This time, when I asked (when it finally went through) what the expiration date was, I was told a year from now. I asked her to read that back, she asked why...I explained, and she laughed and said "oh that could NEVER happen here". Well, um....yeah. Again. Core competency. Geesh. Rite-Aid is JUST across the street. If you have the choice, this is a no-brainer. Truly. read more

Bad pharmacy tech making their registers people employees go over medication and instructions instead of leaving what their are doing to attend the patient like they have every right to have a consultation with patient in privacy instead of talking out loud when there's a line people hearing patients questions regarding her prescription. Poor customer service not only do they refuse service patients going in for necessary medicine. Lying to customers that they don't have certain medical devices that prescribed to customers instead actually looking in their system to transfer prescription to a location that actually has in stock while i looked in their online showing in stock in other cvs and calling to confirm it and they have them in stock. I am sad to write this because all the Pharmacy staff is so hard working. They look like nice people. They are way understaffed. There is always a line. The phone rings so often that they can't answer it. They are rushing so much, they don't even have time to think. They are never idle. Technical wording problems on a prescription should not prevent people from getting life-saving drugs. I came with a RX for my husband for a potentially life-threatening blood clot. The RX was for 15 mg of Xeralto 2x a day transitioning to 20 mg 1x a day. I was told "WE DON'T HAVE THAT. THE ONLY CVS THAT HAS THAT is in PALO ALTO. You'll have to drive there." It turned out that this local CVS store really did have the exact drug on their shelves!!! They just did not have the "Starter Kit" with nice mistake-proof push-out tablets in a cardboard kit the doctor wrote on the order. Honestly, CVS turned us away when we urgently needed blood-clot medication. Only because I was insistent and determined, did they concede to call his doctor and ask her to "reword the RX" so the life-saving drug could be given in a timely basis. So after standing there for 1 hour, he got the exact same drug that the Doctor ordered... just not in a "Kit." It is horrifying to think that people could be turned away for this type of technical wording problem. If it had been after 5 pm or on a holiday, they would have never been able to contact the doctor. --The part that hurts, is they didn't care if my husband had to have his leg amputated due to a clot, or if he died from a pulmonary embolism if the clot moved to the lungs. They are SO OVERWORKED and SO UNDERSTAFFED, they just don't have time to think or care. They just follow the law and the rules. And they do that at least. Technical wording problems should not prevent people from getting life-saving drugs. CVS needs to properly staff their pharmacies so that the staff is not dead-tired and so they have time to think. read more
