I'm not sure how they manage to cram so much stuff into this tiny market, but I'm glad they do it! From the outside looking in, this place looks like your typical mini mart. But just about everything inside is better than you'd expect to find in such a place. Coastside Market has a great beer and wine selection, but their produce area -- while small -- has surprisingly fresh offerings. If you've had a long work day and you're in need of a quick frozen dinner, they have a ton of those, too. The people working here are very nice. They even sell "Homies," (you know, those little toy figurines) and that's something I haven't seen in quite a while! read more

This was much better than I was expecting I'm a visitor and I noticed this was closer than the Safeway's in half Moon Bay. It had a great selection of good quality stuff. A lot of Amy's frozen dinners & high-quality chocolates. The ice cream is only eight dollars for a quart of Häagen-Dazs not for a pint by the way. And yes the great selection of wines! Just recently moved to Moss Beach and this is one of the most diverse markets I've ever ran into. Whoever runs this market is a smart entrepreneur. You have to take advantage of the location and notice that any other store is 7 or so miles away and cram as much product as you can in here to keep clientel from going to Pacifica or HMB. Very clever. Coastside Market has everything from a convenient copy machine to 49er apparel, to electronic cigarettes to pet supplies. Although the prices are a little bit marked up, you can't complain at all because that's the amount of gas you're going to spend going to HMB and back. Last but not least, the cashiers here are very nice. I bought a thing of folgers coffee that was $4.50 and noticed I had no cash on me. I also noticed the minimum debit amount was $5. When he rang me up I asked him to mark up the price to $5 in order for me to use my debit card. "For you my friend, I will let you use plastic for under $5." It's the little things like that that pay off in the end and get you a 5 star review! read more

This is not your typical corner convenience store. Does YOUR corner convenience store stock an inventory of wine and spirits that BevMo would be envious of - I'm guessing, NO. We're not talking Franzia in a box; but, quality and hard to find bottles. For the good stuff, you can find them behind counter and if you can't find it - they'll order it. Ok, enough about the hooch. I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten [insert forgotten piece of produce, vegetable, spice, random ingredient] something and had to run down to finish off dinner. They have a great supply of dry grocery goods, refrigerated items and freezer goodies. We may or may not have had ridiculous ice cream cravings while sitting on the couch the other night - and our freezer was devoid of anything remotely like ice cream. Coastside Market has an incredible selection of ice cream - I think they have every Ben & Jerry flavor. If you're in a pinch, they also have random gift items as well - get your eat, drink and Christmas shopping on all at one place. read more

For a small out of the way place, this store has it all. And often the prices are as good as, if not better than Safeway. We often need things that we bet if Coastside stocks them or not. And 90% of the time, there it is! They guys are friendly and the beer/wine selection is impressive for such a small place. We are new to Moss Beach and ran in to the Market one night for bananas and cream cheese, I was impressed with their selection food, not to mention wine and spirits! I was most excited to see they carry Hangar One Vodka, in many flavors too, my excitement was calmed down by my husband explaining to me that Hangar One is made in the area and they SHOULD carry it, we dont drink much vodka but nice to know when we want the best all I have to do is stroll across hwy1. I just got back from my second trip, the owner introduced himself, shook my hand and welcomed me to the area! I bought some cat food (enough to get the beasts by till I get to the pet store) and scoped out the rest of the store for future needs, wow, great selection and I was again impressed. I made burgers for dinner last night and really wanted some blue cheese to top them, I did not want to drive into town and hubby did not think the Market would carry it...well guess what?? they had blue cheese!! Feels like you've returned to the 1950s. Basic groceries. Good selection of wine and spirits, although pricey. I suppose that is to be expected given the convenience of location. But the wines are not stored properly -- they sit on the shelf and the store can get quite warm. One of the expensive bottles we bought had turned. I brought it back the next day and they would not give me a refund or credit even though we had spent over $200 on wine. I would strongly recommend against buying anything but basic refrigerated whites or high-volume reds here. Sorry -- not as impressed as the other reviewers seem to be. Look at the dates on the beer. Some are expired explaining the stank beer or flat beer. After running into one their delivery guys, we asked why the beer varies and he said it's expired came outside with is and exchanged a fresh pack. Also New Leaf beer and wine dept. head said he is not rotating beer therefore it would be inconsistent. Veggies are terrible. Good for emergency good because of the convenience. Growing up on Sunshine Valley Rd, my sister and I always biked down here to pick up missing ingredients or an ice cream sandwich. My recent return made me realize that I had missed what a surprisingly large beer, wine, and spirits selection this place has. I chose New Belgium Sunshine Wheat and wished that I had tried a fake here in high school... PS. Be wary of the expiration date...some of those items don't get much turnover. read more

This market is a very convenient place to shop when you do not want to drive the 15 minutes into town to wait in line at Safeway. They have everyting - organic vegetables, whole wheat bread, organic milk etc. For booze they have any keg you want and just about any type of wine or hard liquor that you want. If they do not have it -- Gibson will order it for you. They are friendly and reasonably priced. All corner grocery stores should be this good read more

Great selection of alcohol and beer/wine. They pretty much have anything you need for a swanky picnic on the coast. Looks small on the outside. Don't be fooled though - they pack it in like a queen during pride. read more

I use every couple of weeks and am continually amazed at their selection quality, quantity and range. Again and again, I find food and house-ware items I sometimes cannot find at much larger stores. Their prices are quite reasonable and sometimes undercut larger stores. I don't know how they do it. This is the best little all-purpose store I know of in this part of California. read more

When you don't have time to run to Pacifica or HMB or the traffic is too bad but you need emergency diapers, dinner or a bottle of wine... Coastside market to the rescue! A very good section for a mini-mart, surprisingly good produce. Sometimes you gotta watch out for expired products but it's rare. You'll pay extra for diapers for the convenience. They sell Kinder chocolate! Yum! The cashiers are very friendly! My favorite is Hilda Such a sweetie! Always happy! My kids love her! read more

Super-friendly neighborhood grocery with lots of little extras. Saves you a trip up or down Highway 1. Moss Beach and Montara are lucky to have this old-fashioned convenience store. read more

For my new neighbors on the Moss Beach coast and I, this bulging little spot is all that stands between us and a six mile or longer drive into HMB or Pacifica - of course, don't complain to me about that drive - it is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastal highway in the world (exhales, smiles)... However, six miles, even a therapeutic, luxurious six miles, can become maddening when it's for those eggs you left off the list, dog food...that one forgotten or unexpectedly necessary item. The "Mercado" is an oasis of staples - and a lot more. Their selection of uncommon beers and wines, fetched from far-flung European burghs, is delightful. (St Peter's Ale, imported from Britain...nods.) They have an extensive selection of things you might need PLUS a thoughtful array of things that may strike your fancy. I agree with Patrick O. The guy who was lucky enough to snag this location is making the most of it. They have a limited, but helpful selection of fresh produce, as well. read more
