I asked her if I could have extra cucumber and she said I had to pay (understandable) so I declined. Lo and behold, when I open my noodles there are no cucumber to be found. So she either didn't pay enough attention to actually listen to my question, or decided to lie to me. Imagine if I paid extra. What would I have been paying for? The noodles were alright, but service wasn't the best.

They were slightly folded up but there were 2 of them. She took a few seconds and then all of the sudden told me I only gave her 1 20 as she unfolded one of them and showed me. I assume she either pocketed or hid the other 20. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and looked in my own pockets and in my coat pockets. I couldn't find the other 20. So I told her to out some of my purchase back and gave her the 10 to pay for the remaining total which was like 28 dollars. I figured I dropped the 20 outside or left it in my car so I went outside and checked all over my car and on the ground. Couldn't find it, so I went back into the store immediately and confronted the cashier asker her if she was positive I didn't give her 40 dollars. She immediately said "how do I know you're not lying!" Even though I had not even accused her of lying. Then she screamed that I gave her a 10 and a 20 which I did after she had stolen the other 20! So there was not much else I could do, so I left. I figure if she wasn't lying she wouldn't have accused me lol and also she could've shown me the footage of me paying and cleared her name. I was also very kind when coming back into the store, I never once called the woman a liar, but she is a thief. This happened at 430 on Christmas day. I will never go to circle k again and will only use Casey's in fairbury.

I am a former employee, and you have to seriously relish the fact that it's one of the last independently owned gas/convienient stores in the county. I was hired here after burning a radiohead CD for one of the employees. After a half hour interview with Larvin, the owner - I was hired, and away into the E Mart (shop smart, shope EMart) subculture. Here are amazing facts and things to enjoy about Express Mart: The only service station where employees get tips. -Larvin claims to have the best ice cream temperature in Normal -Fresh Fountain Soda -They will accept local checks with ID -Extrodinarily Cheap Beer -Very entertaining evening employees -Restroom closes at 11.00 to prevent problems with drunks -Employees are required to place those numbers on the gas prices sign with suction cup attached to an archaic and often frozen steel pole -Decent selection of Newspapers, including the NY Times -Assuming it's changed by now, but smoking was proudly allowed in the store and by employees during work. -Open late every night - an ideal beer supplier for the post bar celebrations. -Getting cars towed at night is a sport to the employees - don't park there Really though, in all seriousness. Larvin is a very nice guy (but he will loudly yell at you if you do something stupid) - and he is in business with many vendors, and other small business owners in Normal. He has been in business for many years, and he steadily employs several full time employees and many college students and local business people. Your money spent here really does stay in the community. I miss the place, I admit that - but really, in todays age - there just aren't many Express Mart's left in the world. Enjoy!

When it closed, I never thought that we'd ever have another one like it. I can tell you with Absolute Certainty that this little pharmacy (in the old Randall's building) has all the warmth and friendliness of that old downtown pharmacy. My family and I switched all our meds to Fairbury Pharmacy. So should you. :)
