The place not only has all the regular convenient store goodies that one could want, but it comes packed with the hugest wine selection you could imagine for a little corner store. As if you weren't already confused enough (liquor store? convenient store?), QP also sells kegs! That's right folks, they have the whole set up at QP at pretty regular prices. Two things that I love the most about QP besides the wine and kegs: a drive through window and the very frequent buy one get, one free Camels. Also, these guys have been known to give cash back on a debit card and who does that? It's the small things in life that I enjoy the most, and I enjoy my QP Food Mart.

BIG BITE SPECIAL DEAL WITH ENTERTAINMENT!!…read more So I venture into this 7 Eleven today to gas up my ride and maybe grab a snack. I was headed out of Austin after a couple hours at the hospital with my dad. He was in for a minor outpatient procedure and I took the time to take my mom to El Borrego de Oro (previous review). That was at 9:45 this morning and now a bit after noon I was thinking about a snack or something. Anyway, I stroll in checking the place out as the BEAT 104.3 was there with free slurpee coupons. After browsing a couple of minutes I really didn't find anything so I headed towards the counter to pay for my gas. As I strolled by the ever famous hot dog machine I noticed yes.....flies inside the machine. So this machine has the usual sneeze guard and some piece of plastic over the back of it. I'm not one to loose my lunch over anything short of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre clip so I grabbed my cell phone and started shooting shots of the fly circus. The little flies just riding the dogs as the spin around like some championship log rolling tournament on ESPN. GO LITTLE FLIES GO!!! One of the employees came over and asked me if she could get me something out of the machine and I said I'd take the one with the critters on it. She looked at me like I was nuts until I pointed out the various movements on the 100% all beef bites of goodness. She quickly pulled the genius plastic cover back and started swatting away. OK, she sold a couple of dogs as I was hitting the door. I got my gas and came home and made myself a nice fly free roast beef sandwich. Should we nominate her for employee of the month or just change the name of the place to the Quicky Mart? I attached the photo

The lady who owns this 7-11 has now brought in her middle-eastern family to help run the store. I have stayed away for a year and-a-half, and made the mistake of popping in for a couple things. It was like something out of a Quentin Tarantino armageddon-style movie. Three family members behind the counter dressed in tunbaans, dhotis, & turbans - all with thick black rubber gloves. (the only thing missing would've been if this lovely trio had been holding automatic machine guns.) There is a transparent plastic visqueen sheet from ceiling-to-counter, which is fine - except it is littered with spittle, grime & dirt - from god knows what. After my 3 items were rung up & paid for, I asked the woman if I could please have a bag. She pushed the brown paper bag through the small opening & knocked all my items on to the floor at my feet. I bent down to retrive my items in order to put into the bag, and I noticed the bag had a slit down the entire length of the bag. I just said, "I don't need a bag, thank you," and pushed it through the opening. And, she attempted to push it back to me again (with the rip down the side). I pushed it back through again - and fled the store for the safety of my home for an immediate hot & soapy shower. If you have a Coronavirus death-wish, pretty sure your dream will come true at this 7-11. Good luck & Godspeed.

If you live in the square enclosed by William Cannon, Stassney, South 1st, and Congress - this should be your neighborhood quick-mart. One day, I went to pick up a 6-pack of Negra Modelo for a small gathering at my house. In line in front of me were two men, each carrying their respective beer of choice: one had an Olde English 40 oz, the other had a 6-pack of Bud Lite. All I'll say is that I am Mexican, and the three of us were quite the portrait of ethnic stereotypes. I'll leave it at that. Another night, I'd gone with my boyfriend to pick up some wine for another gathering at our house. On our way to the cash register, this man stormed up to the owner with a stack of photocopies, demanding his money back. The owner explained that he must pay for all his copies. The angry customer argued that he would not pay for defective copies and ranted that the copying machine should be fixed. When the owner would not give him a full refund, but only a refund for the defective copies, the man grabbed the receiver off the phone hanging by the front door and threw it so hard, a little piece of plastic hit my head. Then they went back and forth several rounds with very ridiculous expletives involving each other's mothers and sisters. I'll deduct one star for violence.

Don't get me wrong TM is clean and reasonably priced. Ozarka water, chips and beer are cheap. And they have the amazing "Busted! Austin" magazine at the check out. Oh, and good gasoline prices, too. The staff is usually friendly. It's the polar opposite of Live Oak Market a couple of blocks away (the 'Dean & Deluca' of the 'hood - an interesting place but with paninis and craft beers at high prices). At the Texan Market - a.k.a. "Slacker Mart" - the fanciest slow food item is stale cheese popcorn. I like it.

You can get a 44 oz fountain drink for a dollar... not a $1.08 or $1.15.... a flat dollar. I love that. I know it sounds like a very dumb thing but it is super convenient for me, also they will let me use my debit card for a one dollar purchase as well, no stupid minimum purchase shenanigans. Also they carry numerous types of bottled water that I like such as SmartWater and Austin based H2Orange. Factor in the constant supply of non-HFCS sodas in the cooler and I am quite happy Beer prices are competitive with the Randall's nearby but that really isn't hard to do and the selection may actually be better. Combine all of this with friendly cashiers this place has become my local corner store even though it is not the closest one to my home. Only negatives are that they do not have non-HFCS sodas in the fountain machine and the parking lot can become a challenge.
