We really enjoyed sitting outside on the patio and overlooking the gorgeous scenery during our tasting at Cuvaison. Our host, Brian, was super welcoming and friendly and catered our tastings to what we liked. This was a really unique experience and we were grateful for this opportunity. He did a wonderful job at figuring out what we liked and pouring us some great wines! Unfortunately, we had bought too much wine to ship back at this point in our trip, but we will definitely be buying some bottles online. My friends and I stumbled upon Cuvaison after making an (admittedly touristy) stop at Domaine Carneros across the street. We called ahead to see if they could accommodate our group on short notice, and they were able to seat us within about an hour. We were each greeted with a glass of sauv blanc, and we immediately knew this property was more in line with our tastes based on its coziness. We enjoyed a tasting with our fantastic host, Rishann. The experience lasted more than two hours; her friendliness, attentiveness, and knowledge helped create a memorable experience for all of us. Two of us did end up joining the wine club, and we even returned the next day since we were staying nearby. We were pleasantly surprised to have a second experience with the same host, and she totally knocked it out of the park. We cannot wait to return in a few months and try even more Cuvaison wines while enjoying the beautiful views and wonderful staff. read more

I realize I should've taken more English classes in college so I would be able to appropriately describe a magical experience that we had on our visit here. I have to first give ultimate gratitude to Michael for being an amazing host. His knowledge and passion of wine, the winemaking process, the local area, the geography, the topography, the weather it's just amazing. We booked the hike that includes a walk-through of the Vineyard it's includes with wine tasting and lunch in the barrel room. We learned that we were extremely blessed and lucky to be able to experience the barrel room as they are upgrading the tasting room. Personally, I prefer the barrel room. We learned so much about the different types of wines, grapes, the history of winemaking in the area. Michael was so incredibly patient with all of our interesting questions. After our scenic and informational walk we got to have a yummy bag lunch that of course included more wine and ended with a little surprised that I won't share but you'll enjoy. It was so wonderful that even the construction outside had no impact on the extreme amount of joy I experienced. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. This is definitely a Napa moment that you want to have in your life. read more

Really pretty views and building... but that's all that is good. Service sucked. We were seated and never helped for ~45 minutes, until a busser came to our table asking if we were ever helped. The wine tasting wasn't great and was limited. There was a disgusting little worm specimen in one of the wines. When we told the server he couldn't care less and just took the glass without anything else. To make things worse, their reservation system is inaccurate as well. I cancelled a reservation (I had to switch the time) and received a email from Tock acknowledging that cancellation- well before the scheduled time. I waited a few weeks to see if the refund was pending, but eventually emailed them. They just responded saying it showed on their end as a no show. Keep in mind that I attached the cancellation confirmation from Tock. It really grinds my fears when businesses don't apologize for their mistake. There are countless other wineries to visit nearby. Go try those out instead! read more

Located in the Carneros area in the beginning of Napa Valley coming from Vallejo and heading towards Sonoma is Cuvaison, it's right next to Domaine Carneros and they have their own entrance. My friend booked a Saturday morning tasting at 10am, I believe that is their first tasting. Don't go too early because the gate isn't even open yet. We had the option to sit inside or outside and was greeted with a white (or bubbly) I honestly can't remember before being seated. Inside they have huge glass windows looking out and they also have a private tasting room for larger parties. They have another original tasting room elsewhere, I forgot where though but they have the original door in their tasting room. We pre paid for one of the tastings that had both white and reds. I didn't eat breakfast so I chose to get a meet and cheese platter along with crackers to pair with the tasting. I think we had about 4 wines and all were really good. We were there for about an hour and early morning isn't too busy. The bathrooms were clean, service was great and we had a great photo op afterwards. Pricing I would say is similar to all of the other tasting rooms in the Napa Valley about $40-$60 range. read more

While on a mini-trip to Napa, fate brought me to this magical place. I had an awful experience at Domaine Carneros next door (worst customer service in a winery ever) and was heading out of Carneros when I saw Cuvaison was right next door. Several signs said "by appointment only" and I tried calling but no answer. Since I was literally there I went ahead and tried my luck in person. When I arrived I was greeted by Michelle. I told her I didn't have a reservation and was just a party of one. She said it would be okay since they weren't that busy that morning. I mentioned how grateful I was as I had just had a bad time next door. She immediately poured me a glass of sparkling wine and was escorted to a lovely corner table with spectacular views. I was not prepared to how good the wine was. I'm mostly a red wine drinker and was particular fond of their 2019 Mariafeld Pinot but their 2019 ATS Chardonnay was a revelation. It was so delicious and smooth. A delicious cheese platter featuring an amazing Beemster Gouda and Michelle's great care of me turned my day around. Michelle never pushed me the hard sell and I bought a couple of bottles of wine. We had the most magnificent visit to Cuvaison! As soon as we checked in and were offered a welcome glass of wine I knew we were in for an amazing experience. We were seated on the patio surrounded by rolling hills of grapes. Michael took amazing care of us and Taylor at our tasting based on everyone's preferences. I had the opportunity to taste whites, rosé, and reds. We even enjoyed a splash of the sparkling rosé. I thoroughly enjoyed every taste served up at Cuvasion. Long version: - 2020 - one of my friends was a member here though I never visited the winery with her. she opened a bottle of Pinot Noir from Cuvaison for us for wine night and us girls LOVED IT. we thought it was our favorite Pinot we've ever had. so smooth and delicious. got unexpectedly drunk - 2021 - my first napa trip post vaccination was coming up here to look for a similar Pinot experience. loved my wine tasting here so i became a member - 2021/2022 - have come up here for member tastings maybe 6x now. everyone i've brought loves it. they purchase a few bottles with my 15% club discount and honestly i think their bottles are fairly priced. it kind of resembles more Sonoma prices and style than Napa (IMO at least). My friends' and my personal favorites: Rose! Even friends that normally don't like Rose love Cuvaison's Rose. It's only about $30 a bottle too and available for a few months of the year. I love their estate sauv blanc, i grab a couple bottles every shipment and it's an easy wine to bring over to dinner parties/casual hang outs. Some of their Pinots are my favorite as well - i try them all and probably love a third of them A LOT. The rest are all still worth trying. The space is prettttty cute IMO. I always stop here first before trying another winery after for my usual two winery day trips to Napa. read more

I really loved the vibe of this winery. It is modern and has fantastic views. It is also pretty small and feels "exclusive" in a way. We were seated outside and it was perfect. They even gave us umbrellas if we wanted to stay out of the sun. We ordered some of the charcuterie boards that they had and they were delicious. I really loved the cheese's on them. The wine here is so good as well! Our waiter was so nice as well; he asked if there were any wines we liked more and he brought us more wine to taste that wasn't on the menu. Not a welcoming or family friendly venue. Our family moved out of the area a few years and recently moved back. We spend our Sunday afternoons as a family enjoying wine venues, picnics and lawn games. Cuvaison has always been one of our favorite wines and one of the first wineries we ever brought our son to. We were shocked to be turned away due to our son being with us. No one under the age of 21 is allowed on property. I realize some children are unruly! However, most children are well behaved. To have a separate area I could understand, list rules and if not abiding ask to guests leave but not allowed anyone under 21 discrimination and offensive. This is not a nightclub or a bar. We will not be back, nor buying Cuvaison wine, and do not recommend even if not visiting with anyone under 21. read more

We came to this area to check out Domaine Carneros winery. However that place wasn't really our taste as it was super busy and looked very touristy. On the way out we saw the sign for Cuvaison and decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did. This place is "by appointment" only but the host was able to seat us after a short wait. The place is small and kinda quiet and peaceful. The view is great and the host is amazing. They have both tasting and wine by glass. You can also add cheese pairing for a $12 extra charge. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is because the wine wasn't the best among all the places I tried that weekend. I believe a 4/5 is a good rating for this place. As you pull up to the winery you see a sign that says tastings are by appointment only. We almost turned around however I am glad we didn't. We went inside and asked if we could be squeezed in. We were given the option to sit outside under heat lamps and it was actually quite lovely despite it being a chilly day. The views of the vineyards were beautiful. Leslie Love was our host and she was incredible! She made us feel welcomed and she really took time to tell us about each of the wines, where they were grown, and the history of Cuvaison. We not only learned so much, we experienced delicious wine, and enjoyed the yummy cheese platter. Leslie told us about the events that will be coming up this year as well, including Cuvaison's 50th anniversary celebration. Leslie made our experience so enjoyable and memorable. We not only plan on coming back, we became club members. In wine country there are many wonderful wines to try however the experience can be ruined by a host who isn't pleasant and makes you feel rushed. Leslie sets the bar high. She is warm, funny, an expert on wine, and very thoughtful. We look forward to going back soon. read more

Slightly off the beaten path and quite possibly not as appreciated and celebrated as some of the larger mainstream wineries in Napa, Cuvaison is a hidden gem located directly next to the famed Domaine Carneros. We pulled into this place as our last wine tasting reservation in the early to mid afternoon, and were pleasantly seated in the cool barrel room warehouse. Our server Scott was excellent and very knowledgeable with Cuvaison wine's aging techniques. Once you get Scott talking about the wine the more you learn. The first tasting which really wowed all of us was the 2019 Chardonnay Methode Beton, which is aged in a custom made concrete egg. This was the first official tasting on the list of the Distinction Tasting which we had reserved online in advance. The Chardonnay had a distinctly fruit forward nose with rich and tasty minerality. There was only one other winery which I had visited which used this same Chardonnay aging technique which was located in the oceanside Santa Cruz Mountains. The nose and taste of the Chardonnay rises to another level with this aging technique. Cuvaison is only the 2nd winery in Napa to receive these custom concrete eggs for aging. There were other variations of the Chardonnay and Pinor Noir also on the tasting menu, and Scott had allowed us to taste a few off the tasting menu wines which were also a must try due to his recommendation. There was another amazing white wine or Chardonnay which we had all loved. The most amazing nose and taste, these are hands done some of the best white wines and Chardonnays I have ever tasted. We also had the Brandlin Cab Sav. paired with Dark Chocolate Sea Salt squares, excellent. I will definitely be back in the future and hope I can share this place with other friends who haven't been and all my fellow Yelpers who are reading this review. read more

It was excellent and very good value, as they give you an extra bubbly welcome pour and each pour is very generous. The employees were friendly, warm, charismatic, and knowledgeable. Overall, a delightful experience! I think my experience here would've been better if I came during non covid times and was able to get seated indoors between the wood barrels. There wasn't too much of a view. The wait staff was nice and friendly but they seemed really understaffed and a little disorganized. The wines tasted pretty mediocre and nothing special or too different from the wines you get at the store. We drove up from San Francisco for a day trip (takes 1 hour) and Cuvaison was such a lovely experience! The outdoor patio seating has incredible views, and the location is unbeatable. Domaine Carneros is directly across the street so I recommend making reservations at both for a full day of wine tasting fun! My party of 2 ordered the Estate tasting flight and we were both very impressed. The wines were all delicious and it was very interesting to hear about what makes each wine unique. There were also cheese plates and charcuterie options if you are looking for a light meal. The COVID precautions felt very safe. The tables were spaced far apart and the surfaces were all regularly sanitized. Overall, I will definitely be back and would recommend Cuvaison to anyone who enjoys quality wine and beautiful Napa views. read more

Incredible gem of a winery that is only going to get better after some upcoming renovations over the next several months! I found this winery on yelp by searching for dog-friendly wineries as my husband and I were looking to do one last mini "babymoon" staycation in Sonoma. We had driven past it on previous visits to Domaine Carneros which is right next door, and I regret not trying this place sooner! Def in my top 3 dog-friendly wineries We were amazed by the impeccable and friendly service, the sleek modern tasting room with ample outdoor seating, and the gorgeous views. I had always thought of Sonoma as having some nice family-friendly wineries but no real views due to the relatively flat terrain... thus when we had visitors we always would trek up to St Helena or Howell Mountain for pretty views. I'm so happy to know Cuvaison exists for our next family visitors (plus it's a much closer drive!) We had a 10am tasting appointment (super easy to book online) and even though we arrived 10 minutes early, there were already 2 dog water bowls + treats waiting at our table with a cute little "welcome" sign for our party. That is some wonderful hospitality! Also, considering we showed up with 2 adults and 2 large dogs but only one person actually doing a tasting (I was the pregnant DD for this trip!) ... it was even more appreciated that they took such great care of us as some other places might not be some accommodating. The place is small and intimate but never feels crowded -- the modern tasting room boasts floor to ceiling glass, giant sleek wooden doors, and comfy couches but the patio was really the highlight. The patio can probably fit 6 small parties outside + a few high tops off to the side, and dogs are very welcome. Our enthusiastic host Michelle was a pleasure to interact with and she went off-piste once she learned my husband was a huge Chardonnay fan. We had booked the Los Carneros 5 wine tasting but she ended up crafting an amazingly dynamic tasting based on the feedback, including a lovely Chardonnay flight (Kite Tail, Coeurtina, ATS). The Cabernet and Pinots were also incredible (I'll take my husband's word for it). We ended up buying so many bottles we already qualified for the club membership, and this is one I think we'd actually stick with and try out some of the events to come. We also learned that the winery is planning some renovations -- including building some outdoor pavilions for members down by the reservoir and burying the utility power lines underground (admittedly I was tempted to photoshop out all those powerlines in my photos ha). Completely worth the drive out to Napa Valley! We came here with our dog when trying to figure out something fun to do & that's open during quarantine. We didn't have a reservation since it was same day, but the server was more than accommodating when explaining we tried to call on our 1.5-hour drive over. It wasn't in the plan. The famed Domaine Carneros turned us away without a reservation, and as the nightmare materialized, so did all others on this beautiful Sunday COVID-19 afternoon. On our drive back, we decided one more attempt at some wines, and it proved successful. Cuvaison has a little lake with geese as you enter on the property. Drive a little further, and you'll come to a modern tasting room with 400 acres of vineyards. I was elated. It was extremely clean, and they were careful to keep it that way upon check-in and seating. My gf and I, along with our little doggy, were seated inside near the glass doors which were wide open. A nice breeze with a view of the lake and vineyards -- sweet! We ordered not the tasting menu, but a chardonnay [$10, 4.5 stars] and a rose [$15, 3.5 stars] were both refreshing and much needed. Our wine server was awesome! So friendly, and was able to answer some of our difficult questions about the property and wine-making, in general. Worthy! read more

Stumbled upon Cuvasion as finished up at another winery close by, had some time to kill and were looking for a place that took walk-ins. We were so glad we found this place. The tasting room is newly renovated and has gorgeous views (it helped we had a beautiful day as the 2 previous days it rained). Their outdoor seating and firepits looked so nice, but it wasn't warm enough the day we were there to utilize them. There was only one other person tasting while we were there so we had a server all to ourselves. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and gave great descriptions as well as suggestions regarding wines that weren't part of the tasting-and even allowed us to taste a few. We enjoyed both of their Sauvignon Blancs (Estate and method beton), the Kite Tail Chardonnay, Brandlin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and the Spear Vineyard Pinot Nior. Would definitely recommend a visit and will stop in again when we return to Napa. read more

Not going to lie, I was pretty disappointed with my experience with Cuvaison. We made a reservation and visited on Memorial Day weekend, and it was such a beautiful day to visit this gorgeous winery. Upon walking in, my boyfriend and I marveled at the amazing view from the tasting room. Located a sharp left turn away from Domaine Carneros, Cuvaison is a lot more low-key and quiet, while offering an amazing view. The tasting room is made of glass, and since it was such a nice day, they opened all the doors/windows - so even if you were seated inside, it felt like you were right outside. You do have to make a reservation at Cuvaison, and they will handwrite a card at your table greeting you upon arrival. Ugh, I LOVE little personalized touches like that! Amazing. Unfortunately, after these amazing first impressions, it went downhill pretty fast. It's pretty clear that if you are not a club member, you will get second-class treatment. Our server was very very absent. He couldn't be bothered to interact with us at all. He would quickly pour us a glass, and scurry away to other tables, where he would be laughing, pulling up a seat at their table, and explaining each pour in great detail. My bf tried to ask him a question about the wine and we were met with blank stares, and a dismissive comment. By pour three, we were waitng 25 minutes until we got our fourth pour. That is not an exaggeration. I wanted to stop the tasting right then and there but I didn't want to kill the mood of our wine tasting experience. We eventually get through all 5 tastings, and our server tells us we can take our time, but to check out at the front. Fair enough, we finish our wines, and I head to the front. Someone else is closing out, and when it become my turn, the cashier just turns around and leaves! So I'm just chilling there, while the cashier, and my server clearly see me, but are doing other things. I get it, people are busy, but a simple acknowledgement of "we'll be right with you" would go a long way. Instead, the female cashier walks up to me after 10 minutes of me chilling there, and says "....is there something I can help you with." TLDR; I wouldn't recommend coming unless you are a club member, or if you don't automatically look affluent. Sigh. For $35 per tasting, you can find an amazing view and better service elsewhere. No need to settle in Napa - live and learn! read more

The day prior to our tasting we rolled up and didn't have reservations. Luckily they had the phone number posted so we scheduled a tasting for early afternoon the following day. They require full payment at time of scheduling. LET ME TELL YOU-- THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The staff were so wonderful. We had one guy "assigned" to our tasting and he walked us through each wine. We had a lot of questions about how the wine is made and the land the grapes grow on. He answered our questions. They have a couple of offerings for snacks and bites. I recommend to eat before, if you are not planning on purchasing their snacks. We bought several bottles of wine because of the excellent tasting. They have a lovely outside setting for both small and big groups. The view is so beautiful.
