I saw that the haircut prices ranged from $30-$60, I was just going in for a very small trim so I assumed it would be closer to the low end. About an 2 inches off my hair later I was billed for $60! Granted, I should have asked, and that would be my advice for anyone reading this, to have a price set with your hairdresser first. But I can't imagine what would qualify as a $30 haircut if 2 inches (no layers or anything) is $60. It makes LA prices seem reasonable. Hairdresser was nice, but the prices are nuts. read more

This is a really amazing full service salon. I first went there for a gel manicure and Sunrize did an amazing job. The airbrush tanning used great products and lasted longer than expected. They also offer and lash tints and lifts. I've seen both Norma and Adriana for hair coloring and they were awesome and made sure I was happy. I had Adrianna for a stylist and she completely messed up my hair. I went in to make my hair lighter and she ended up making it uneven, striped, used dye that fried my thin hair, put it under a dryer, and left it on wayy too long. It was the worst experience I've ever had at a salon and a very expensive fix when I went to a place where they rectified the mess that was my hair as best they could. Paid $200 for a completely shitty dye job that didn't get better even when I asked her to fix it. Will never consider going back here. read more

I curly hair and am always hesitant to make them medium short. But I took courage and chose this salon! I had nightmare when cutting my hair at this place, women who was cutting my hair didn't seem so much interested after advertising the products off course I didn't bought any of them. I showed her a picture and asked her to cut that way and she didn't do single thing. First she rinsed my hair, put some of their products and directly cut straight from back and then she pretends it to be done, the look which I exactly not want. Enough, then I had to giver directions for what I am looking and she just ruined it then. I strongly recommend not to go there and if you happen to in any case of emergency, please do not have that women for your service. She did the worst job. For reference I went on june 09 2020 for 6:15 pm appointment (for the salon if they want to response, which I accept them to) ZERO RATING!!! I can give picture if they need what she has done perfectly imperfectionist!! The images are front side, back side is also screwed up! Has manager of this place something to say? Well, I got Adriana (business owner) my fixer. I called them, and they agreed upon fixing up my haircut. Just went in to get a trim for my dead ends and am really happy with the results! I had Sierra and I definitely made it a bit difficult for her as I really wanted to keep my length but I had a lot of breakage. Still she managed to cut off the perfect amount and fix the uneven layering in my hair and I love it! My hair feels so much healthier now and I'll be coming back for sure. read more

Don't get your hair done with Cierra unless you want her to chop majority of your hair off. Asked for a healthy trim today when I went in and had about 7/8 in. of my hair cut off. My hair was about to my waist and it now sits just below my shoulders. Still paid the $57 I was charged and tipped, which I sort of regret (bc that's expensive for a bad haircut) but yeah I left super unhappy and displeased with my experience. Either find someone who knows how to trim while keeping the length or super emphasize that you want to keep it Bc she is scissor happy. read more

Sahara did not disappoint. She was pleasant and did a great job of giving me the cut I wanted based on the picture I provided. I was able to make an appointment the same day I called(which was also Valentine's Day). Although $52 for a haircut is a little much for my budget, leaving with exactly what I envisioned wanting for my new hairdo was worth it. Meeting Hairstylist Emily was a God Wink for me! Last fall we moved here from the Midwest and I was in desperate need to find a hairstylist who was familiar with my type of hair. I'm in my 60s and I have very fine, thin, blonde hair that I have highlighted to cover the grey, and quite frankly, I was very nervous! I'd explored many salons around the Santa Barbara area but I'd not found one that appealed to me. When I walked into the Cutting Edge, I was warmly greeted by Emily and instantly put at ease. She listened to my concerns and reassured me that my hair trim and color would be what I wanted! I thought she was a wonderful receptionist so imagine my surprise when I discovered SHE would be my stylist! She did NOT disappoint! She is so personable and talented and I feel so fortunate to have found her and the Cutting Edge! She's not only a great hairstylist but also a great Public Relations Ambassador for this salon. I've been to this hair salon in the past and found a hair stylist that I trusted with my hair. So the next time I needed a trim I made sure to call up this salon and get it done with her. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of treatment. I understand that it was a busy day but everything felt really rushed. My bangs were cut way too short even though I had shown multiple pictures to my hair stylist. Usually in the past she would trim a bit, ask if I wanted more cut off and adjust as I liked. but this time it was cut and done. At the end when she was styling my hair, it was left very frizzy and I kindly asked if she could spend a bit more time styling it so to give it more definition and less frizz and she told me she couldn't spend too much time styling my hair because she had another client already waiting. So she sprayed some anti-frizz spray and we left it at that... I was very disappointed because the treatment was not like my previous visits and this haircut was my only treat for myself for my birthday despite having a horrible week. Please, if we are paying you full price for a service we expect a full service. Going to the hair salon is expensive and is meant to be almost a therapeutic refresh for people. The short bangs were fine, no big deal as my hair grows fast but the treatment was not. Will not be sharing my hairstylist name because I know we all have bad days but please remember to be considerate of people and their time. read more

I really like this place. The worst part of moving is finding your new go-to places, and finding a hair stylist is the worst. I went to the Ulta in Goleta twice and was disappointed both times. Finally, after going to Trader Joe's and seeing how busy the Cutting Edge Hair Salon was I decided to give it a try. I made a random appointment and Stefani was my stylist. Stefani did an awesome job and was very nice and personable. My hair is thick and I just wanted a simple cut with layers. She did the wash, haircut, blow dry and straightening and it came to $47. I think this is a really reasonable price (Ulta's price is comparable and both times the stylist told me they "preferred cutting dry" so didn't wash my hair, which to me is part of the experience). The salon itself is clean with high ceilings and modern equipment. I had a great experience and I will definitely be back. read more

We were driving from out of town to attend a wedding but didn't want our hair ruin by the long drive. We were originally going to stop in Santa Barbara, where the wedding was being held, but after looking at the outrageous prices we decided to stop here instead. Best decision ever! They were so much more affordable than the salons we called in Santa Barbara, and they are less than 10 minutes away from Santa Barbara! The salon was clean and the staff was so friendly. Our stylists knew we were from out of town, and probably wouldn't be in the area again, and they were still so pleasant and nice. They washed, blow dried, and curled our hair, and it looked great! Even after a long night of dancing! We couldn't have asked for better. The locals are lucky to have such a modern, friendly, and affordable salon in their community! read more

This is a brief review about their waxing service. I've never had my hair cut here before. The salon is located in a plaza I frequently visit (TJ's is right next door after all) so one day I decided to pop in and see if they do eyebrow waxing. First, their price for waxing is a lot more than the usual nail salons, which is around the $10-12 range. It's $19 here and with tip, you're looking at spending over $20. Despite the higher price tag, I do like this place! They use stripless hard wax. The wax is "grippier" on the hairs and as it hardens on your face, the esthetician can peel it right off. I find the hard wax to be gentler on the skin and it doesn't hurt as much. This is probably good for those who have lower tolerance for pain. I've been here twice and both times the services are excellent. The girls that did my brows always took their time and made sure to get all the tiny stray hairs. My brows always come out nicely shaped and very clean. Because they do a good job, I can go a bit longer before my next waxing appointment.The best part is there's no redness because the wax is gentler and the estheticians always made sure to sooth my skin after the waxing. Overall, their waxing services are great if you're willing to spend a little bit more. I would definitely come back again. read more

I have been coming to this salon for a few years now (since my parents live so closeby), which comes to about 8-10 visits. I've had various stylists cut my hair -- some have been there all those years, while others are newer faces. But most of them are quite young and friendly, as Anjali M. has mentioned. I usually have a similar cut request each visit, and each stylist I've had has given me pretty good (consistent) results. Most recently (aka today) I had Lana -- she was AMAZING. I must point out that she was probably the most meticulous and precise stylist I've had at the Cutting Edge over all my past visits. She doesn't quite engage in conversation as much as most other stylists I've had, but it's only because she's so focused on her work! This is definitely not to say she is not friendly or approachable, because she is sooo nice and easy to talk to. She knew exactly what I meant when I addressed my "hair concerns" and took care of them perfectly. And the cut only came out to $40...for the quality, it was a crazy deal...something you would never find outside Goleta...like in LA. read more

I enjoy their friendly atmosphere, free wi fi and great customer service. Their staff is consistently good and nice, so if I can't get an appointment with my usual stylist or aesthetician, I can be scheduled with anyone there and rest assured I'll get the best treatment ever. She listened to everything I had to say about my hair. I love how clean and neat and tidy the salon itself is. Often times, salons are not really all that 'clean'. This place sparkles!!!! Cling! Cling! That's the sound you'll hear all night if Nicole does your formal 'do, of pins hitting the floor as your hairdo slowly falls. Guys, I do not usually write bad reviews like this - I like to give people the benefit of the doubt - but this situation was over-the-top EMBARRASSING for me, so I have to do it. Why embarrassing? Because I was finding pins from my hair in random places at a black tie party, all night long. Awkward! Seriously, I later discovered she had only used 5 real bobby pins for an entire updo, and the rest were those V-shaped hair pins. That explained a lot. I learned a valuable lesson from the experience, but really at $55 plus tip for a short appointment, they are charging Big Girl Salon prices and I shouldn't have to micromanage what the stylist is up to back there. :) read more

I stopped in to get a simple trim (no layers, just long and straight across) and deep conditioning treatment. All of that was fine. Afterwards i had her blow my hair out straight....it didn't even last 2 hours before curling and I had crazy fly-aways. I was ok with this. What really bothered my was my stylist, Norma. She didn't even greet me. I got the silent treatment and I'm not sure why. Also she told me that the deep conditioning was $15 and then it was actually $20. I really don't mind the $5 but I do mind that she didn't apologize or anything. Overall it was $72. I could've gotten the same exact thing for $20 at Great Clips with much better service. read more
