It was a great experience, my husband had a lot of opportunity to fly the Cessna 172 G1000. I recommend extending the flight to one hour which allowed time to fly over the beautiful lakes. Our instructor, Travis Graham was amazing. I highly recommend the introductory experience for anyone interested in flying. My husband has done computer simulations for a long time and this is what he needed to commit to taking flight lessons.

Plane returned with loose plug on oil pump causing massive oil leak also left alternator light was on constantly when returned right alternator light was on all the time. Ownersaidhewould fix he also said I was lucky because when he touched the plug it fell outThey did fix and left alternator light was on again. Confronted owner regarding price, his reply to manager was deal within but I will never work on your plane again. Received a bill for another$800 to fix the problems they still hadn't fixed.

I ended up working with them to get the rating done. Jonathan, the head of the flight school, was the CFI I'd be working with. I'm so glad I did. He was able to teach to my learning style and we worked really well together. We met early and stayed late to get me ready for the check-ride. Coming from northern California, I booked out a week to accomplish the task. Unfortunately, the DA-42 Twin Star broke. A broken fuel injector in one of the engines made it impossible to train in the limited time frame. I had to leave and come back. On my second trip back, the night before the check-ride, I got news of a friends passing in an aviation incident. Thanks to Jonathan's prep, the following day, I was able to pass the oral portion of the check-ride with flying colors and discontinued on the flying portion. I re-booked for a return visit. Upon coming out, the aircraft had an other issue during one of our flights. Sawyer's in house mechanics both times went above and beyond to get the aircraft back in service but the parts needed to be special ordered from Europe. Being in aviation and an aircraft owner, things like this just happen no matter how well an aircraft is maintained. Throughout this process, I was able to witness a side of aviation that most don't get to see. Sawyer's maintenance team rocks and worked their butt off to make sure things are tip top. Even though I wasn't able to finish my multi-engine commercial add on at Sawyer, they did take care of me. Jonathan built a foundation for me to finish a few months later back in northern California and I earned my ratings. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Sawyer Flight academy because not only did they treat me well, they training I received was top notch.

I asked if they had any alternates, and I was immediately told "We are not your directory and if you don't need the part then we are done" and hung up on me. Maybe that is not verbatim but it is about as close of statement I can give based on the way the call was handled. I find this to be very poor and inconsiderate customer service since their website SPECIFICALLY STATES: For any queries related to this part number ####, you can call us now at the toll free number. If two parties are trying to complete a transaction, I see nothing wrong with asking what the company has available and all alternate options to determine the best purchase for our airline and to determine what is the best distribution center use long term. Maybe they have plenty of business and one customer does not matter, however word of mouth and the longevity of any business requires can be diminished from poor customer service. I have sent their company an email to be aware of the customer service provided today, if they care enough to evaluate the matter and determine if this is a one time occurrence or an ongoing issue that could affect their business opportunities long term. I am putting this review out there for all others that may come across the same issue when having any dealings with them. Our company however will not purchase anything from them ever, no matter if the aircraft is AOG or not. A huge shout out to my CFI, Cal, who was awesome. He was very friendly and patient. Despite it being a basic intro course, his chill vibe made it an enjoyable experience. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone interested in aviation. The Apache Junction reservoir and the Superstition range at 5k feet sure is a pretty sight. Apparently they are 'going to be' at KCHD...but after the 'summer' was 9/21/2024...Now a month later, their site has that message...their sim and planes I am guessing are at KCHD now..but I am guessing. I have wanted to do a training recurrency event with them...they'd be a good fit for my recency. otherthan Classic..in the entire valley NOW...zero. The valley isn't the 10+ years ago place and is 100% ANTI general aviation...it's a 'monetize' every human...place..A person wanting a 'fair' and quality IPC and FR...in a sim and then a finish up in a twin..with 3 landings...to get 'fresh' is out of luck unless that person although extremely proficient and competent...will not maybe will be charged 7x the real net cost..via "we only always do it that way" which means a IPC and FR and 3 landings will cost ya 400% because "that is how I do it"..IN Denver or Seattle or Van Nuys or Houston or Dallas, REAL metros that LOVE and protect G.A. pilots..you can have a choice of FTD's for a full IPC or a array of schools with a quality AATD and a nice twin...in a week I'd have 4 of those...not true in the Phoenix metro...it was long long ago. Even ERAU at KPRC and ASU at KIWA and UND at KIWA ..."gee man we USED to let folks fly our FTD x2 and have their IPC we won't now..only our $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ program customers TOUCH our sims." so now if you live in this area...lots of luck get re-ready for resumes out...Not happening with quality and time frame...and Twins in this area are marginally maintained or charged rates that are SAME as Van Nuys or Denver..so much for Valley of the Sun low costs of living. where a CHD studio apt. unf. is $1700 + electric per month.
