When it came to my turn, I felt like the two barbers didn't want to cut my hair, it was like they were making excuses and slowed down so that they didn't have to be the one to cut my hair. I can hear them smirking and making little comments to one another. I showed a photo of how I wanted my hair to be cut and it sure didn't look like that when finished. When I got home, I took out my hair clipper and had to re-trim it myself. The vibe of this barbershop was off this time. Back in the Chair -- and Glad I Came Back…read more A little backstory: I used to go to Lady Jane's in Cary for years, but after my go-to stylist left, it became hit or miss. I gave it a few more chances, but eventually started shopping around -- trying barbers in Cary, Raleigh, and Apex. Nothing really clicked. Fast forward to last week -- I had an upcoming business trip and badly needed a haircut. Figured I'd give LJ's another shot as a walk-in. TL;DR: Stoked I found Felicia! Longer version: Felicia asked what I was looking for, so I showed her a photo of myself with the length and style I wanted. She was confident, knew exactly what to do, and got started right away. Weird twist -- my hair wasn't playing nice with her clippers. No problem. Without missing a beat, she switched over to a classic scissor cut to keep things moving. Honestly? I prefer the scissor cut anyway, and with her decades of experience, she clearly knew what she was doing. Bonus: Felicia's got stories. Between her skill and her personality, it turned a routine haircut into a fun, easy appointment. Will I go back? Yeppers! Will I ask for Felicia and a scissor cut? Without question.

Scissorhands is my family's favorite with my two younger brothers regularly getting haircuts here. Andy is not as friendly as Miss Kim in Morrisville, but we recently had a nice conversation about the Korean language since I just started studying it. The cut was masterful, for sure, and followed the example I showed in a photo saved in my phone. Shampoo was included at no additional cost and I did not have to wait in my latest visit around Friday noon. I used to pay around $30 to $35 for a regular men's cut but the latest service, Andy charged me $40 (not including tips). As for the atmosphere, it's more spacious than their old location (where they shared space with other salons) but it's not as spacious as Hair News. Nonetheless, it's in a good location by High House Road, close to Cici's Pizza, a small Walmart market, and just less than 5 minutes drive away from HMart.

Dina takes the time to blow dry it one section at a time so that it lays flat without hot tools. I feel like my hair is much healthier and I also have been using the flat iron less. During one cut the stylist Tina complained and chastised me for almost the entire time her hair was knotty. Started off with telling me what kind of shampoo to use and ended with her trying to charge me $18. I made it clear my daughter was at camp for the week so it was going to be knotty. A $35 cut, wash and blow took 35 minutes. I was prepare to tip generously as I knew it was more work than usual. As parents we have so much to do but 20 minutes of being told on repeat that your kid's hair is knotty the only tip I have is shut the f up. My other daughter received a haircut from another stylist and it was on a complete diagonal. Going for a haircut and wash should be a somewhat relaxing experience with a fun outcome. My kids were quiet and excited at ages 8 and 10. I just wanted to get out of there because I felt uncomfortable and frustrated. If you want a stressful time caused by the poor services of the workers, then this is the place for you. I rather a stress free $100 haircut for my kids.
