my favorite clothing store when I come north become an even more favorite store after the sidewalk sales. while browsing through the vast collection of sale items I came across a really great pair of white jeans - my size. I immediately liked them but was shocked when I saw the price tag. FREE. took them inside to verify. For sure the lovely owner said yes and there is nothing wrong with them. I ordered from the wedding registry. Their website says they will ship items in 2 business days, or notify you of a delay. 3 days after I ordered, they emailed me to ask if I wanted the order gift wrapped. I immediately responded and assumed the order was being prepped to ship that day. Now 10 days later, 13 days after the order was placed, I get an email that the shipping label printed. Now the order is too late for the wedding shower, and I have to drive an hour to find a different gift from another store. I'm so disappointed. read more

I was also treated REALLY RUDELY IN THIS STORE. Some years ago I purchased a Le Creuset tea kettle. It was still in the box with all the packaging and receipt. I simply wanted a different color and brought the item back promptly! I was living in Johannesburg at the time and made the long trip there and back. The lady who I spoke to said I could not return it! She was very demeaning and had absolutely no manners or tact! I will always remember this as one of the most unpleasant places to shop. No return policy? I go to the BIRCH RUN OUTLET and get deals there. They are quite nice. Shopping local is not worth the bother here. I buy most of my kitchen items on line or other outlets and stores! read more

Their Customer service is horrible. I was fully intending on spending $200-400 in the store, but the store was so dirty. It was a spring allergy trap. I started sneezing after 10 minutes of shopping from dust. The employred didn't even ask if I needEd help. They just ignored me the whole time. I love Cutler's. I've been in many times and have sometimes just been a window shopper and sometimes made a purchase. I love the cultivated selection of tools and supplies. This store carries the best quality items from toasters and coffee makers to wooden spoons and pancake turners. The times are not inexpensive but the tools are specialty and excelled quality so I continue to shop there for gifts and for the special things I like in my own kitchen. I've never had a problem with the staff and in fact have always found them friendly and helpful. I love the gift wrapping service and have used it even to wrap cocktail napkins and the staff has been very pleasant about it. When I think of hospitality, I think of Cutler's first. It's absolutely a staple for me. read more

It's wonderful to have a store in the area that sells a risotto pan when you've realized with 20 minutes to go that you need one, but someday someone else is going to realize how to sell risotto pans, and they will have an organized store (which cutler's is not), friendly service (which cutler's does not have), and they will have relatively competitive prices (which cutler's does not). Still, Cutler's, it's nice that you carry Le Creuset. read more

OK, Cutler's. Would it kill you to rearrange your store in such a way that it's not incredibly difficult to maneuver amid the racks of amazing kitchen goodies and gadgets? I stop by this great store every summer, and every year I am amazed at how I essentially have to shove my way through people if I want to walk around the store or get up close to any shelves. They have a ton of great stuff for your kitchen, but I don't know that I've ever seen the staff smile. Try to get in and out with your new Kitchen Aid mixer as quickly as possible. read more

I have a blast every time I and my girls go into Cutler's. I have never been treated with anything, but curtesy and respect so I was sad to read the other negative reviews. I was just in this last Wednesday and the Ladies chatted and laughed with me just as if we were old friends. As for the way the store is set up, well, I LOVE it. I have been shopping at this store for years. I don't frequent it, due to high prices, but would bite the bullet due to their seemingly interesting inventory. This visit, I've finally had it. The behavior of the employees at this store is disgusting. They are blatantly rude, and argue with the customers, without regard for common courtesy (not even close to appropriate salesmanship). The products which once brought me to this store are not worth the degradation and humiliation felt through the treatment by the workers. I have fully supported small town shopping, but for a better deal, you can get everything from cutlers on Amazon, delivered to your door without someone treating you like dirt. read more

Anybody who really enjoys the gadgetry that goes along with cooking needs to make a quick stop at Cutler's. It's a small boutique store specializing in kitchen utensils from Le Creuset pots to garlic presses. They have a large assortment of KitchenAid mixers, knives and cookbooks along with other ornate decor for the home. They also carry many of those one task tools that are really cool (like onion googles, zesters, etc.). While purists may scoff at the need for some of these devices I find that giving them as gifts is an easy way to encourage the home cook looking to explore their abilities. There's a ton of little stocking stuffers that are interesting and many quality big ticket items if you're looking for something in particular. read more

A Petoskey institution. It's such a tradition for us to shop at Cutler's when we're in town. I love the jam-packed aisles of every imaginable kitchen gadget you need - and don't need. We always find some fun "must haves". This time a variety of colorful spatulas and a whale shaped pancake mold for my daughter - haha. Prices are not cheap, but you're in a resort town and they have a lock on high end kitchen ware and fine dining supplies (wine glasses, platters, bowls, etc). Always fun to shop here and I never leave empty handed. read more

This store is amazing! They have everything you have ever wanted for your kitchen (and thousands of items that you didn't know you needed). The staff is friendly and helpful, and the owners are kind and there every day. The pricing is competitive, and they truly have a gift for everyone on your list. They have high end gifts and very nice jewelry on the gift store side of things, and if you can't find what you are like ok'ing for, they will order it for you. Best store in the entire world! I am currently traveling and walked past this store! It has everything anyone who loves cooking/baking/hosting in any way could dream of. And even though it has competitive prices: They don't differ from Amazon, some things are even cheaper! All the things I bought I looked up online and Cutlers had either the same price or on very small gadgets I even saved a few cents. Which obviously they have to in order to have people buying things in their store. I wouldn't have if it had been cheaper on Amazon, of course. I love this store! The staff is so nice and friendly, the selection is a dream - I could spend hours and hours there! read more

So I wasn't going to write anything until I saw the other review. Perhaps this will make management take notice. FIrst and most importantly, this is an amazing store. Great stuff throughout. I had tons of stuff to buy (I was there last Thursday). I could not find anyone to help me and when I did, it was clearly an inconvenience. Then when I went to check out, the TWO people behind the counter were deep in a personal conversation. I waited, and waited and waited. I put my items down and left as did the person behind me. Now I'm home and sad to not have all the goodies but what a mess! read more

With so many negative posts thus far, I have to say that I had excellent customer service at Cutler's. I went in with a list of items and walked out with each one. It may be that it isn't high season just yet and that many of the customers who have left previous comments are coming in during peak times when it can indeed be truly overwhelming with all of the summer residents and tourists. Perhaps Cutler's could consider hiring additional staff during peak times, perhaps the staff aren't friendly as they are over stressed and unable to take the time to sincerely help customers? read more

For the past 30 years I have been a loyal Cutler's customer, purchasing items not only for myself but for clients as well. I also refer people to Cutler's for all their housewares when the time comes to furnish their home (thousands and thousands of dollars over the years). Recently, I made the mistake of daring to ask the owner if she would consider giving a small discount on these large purchases so that dollars spent could remain in the local community. When I mentioned spending approximately $2000 to $3000 on each client (of which I have 4 - ready to purchase - do the math - that's approx. $12,000) she didn't hesitate to let me know that the amount was really nothing and a small discount would not be considered. I told her that the conversation was over and ended the communication. What a shame......whether a single dollar was spent or several thousand, discounted or not, it's sad to think how insignificant you are to a longstanding local business. Guess it's time to take my business, and my clients' business, elsewhere....Cutler's apparently doesn't need it anyway. read more
