Service - We visited here in August, it was so hot in the building but there were fans interspersed in the space and the seniors working here were so nice. Selection - I saw an adorable dress, but it wasn't one I could pull off. More teenybopper goth, lol. I would call the selection crazy good/interesting. Interesting - good, not interesting "oooh...wtf." Value- prices, some moderate, but most more than fair. I got socks that were St. Saturday themed for St. Patrick's Day. And, I got my sister some martini socks, my brother in law is like a mixologist as a hobby (at least for vodka/gin martinis). I found a nice two toned gap almost cashmere-to type sweater. And, a mug with a rooster. I need more mugs like I need a hole in the cabeza but you know, who can resist that cock a doodle doo? *cackle* read more

Charlevoix MUST include a stop & shop at the Rainbow Thrift store! Treasures galore! You never know what you'll find--from clothing, appliances, furniture, glassware, kitchen products, classic toys, kids clothing, baby clothing, tools, lamps, etc. Staff and volunteer seniors are very helpful, considerate, and go the extra mile! I found the women working at Rainbow to be less than welcoming. It also felt as though the ladies were staring at me the whole time I was there. The prices were steep for second hand goods. I would expect prices to be at least below half of retail, but this was not the case. I stopped going there about a year ago, figured I'd give it another chance, but still got the feeling that only old people are welcome there. read more

Told I needed to wear a mask (even though I offered to show my vaccine card) while the cashier was only wearing a face shield. Ironic they choose to follow some of the CDC recommendations and not others. Also wanted me to use their harsh liquid sanitizer instead of my own. read more

I stopped at over a dozen thrift shops on my weeklong road trip but only bother to review a handful of those. Rainbow Thrift Shoppe was remarkable enough to make the cut. It is very large (don't miss the mezzanine level with great coats & jackets). It's well organized and clean. There are a lot of better brands, especially in misses clothing, and the prices may seem slightly higher than some other thrift stores, but to me it just seems that they know what they have here. I didn't see a single price that was truly exorbitant by any means. I did think the merchandise, overall, was a little on the mature side. I saw a lot of beautiful affordable sweaters that were just a little too frumpy. Still a great place. read more

If you're from a big city, you may be shocked by how inexpensive thrift shops are around here. This place is clean and organized, they don't sell anything that's really dirty, broken or defective, unless they are unaware of the defect, or they state the item is 'as is'. They often have weekly specials, so ask about that. They almost never come down on prices, so expect to pay sticker amount. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for along time now. I was just at another thrift store and they were talking about the rainbow and all the things they were saying have been what I experienced too. 1: Volunteers are rude. (I have volunteered in many different environments. I do it because I enjoy it, not to feel superior.) 2: Things are over priced. (I have donated things to this store and they put a price on it that was more than what I bought it for new. I have several friends with the exact same experience) 3. Where do the nice things go? (This is hear say, but I heard that people have seen things at volunteers garage sales expensive telescopes not making to the floor) 4. Crazy religious republican books prominently displayed. (Every time I go to the rainbow a right winged religious book is front and center. I would under stand if it was a religious book because this is a Christian org.. It is not expectable to force your politics down someone's throat because they need to come to this store.) I understand that this thrift store helps people in need, but their attitude is disgusting. A thrift store is supposed to be a place where people that do not have the means can buy clothes with out looking for hand outs too. This store charges so much that I can buy cheaper new. Thank god I do not need to buy my clothes from a thrift store anymore. read more

This place is super cool. At first, I thought that it was too old and not my type of stuff. I walked around, and things began to catch my eye. I managed to snag a mug, artisan-designed teapot, and an 8-piece hand-painted wooden drink serving set all for $11. All of the money goes to a great cause and they take donations. If I lived in Michigan, I would definitely bring all of my old stuff. I want to come back! read more

This is one of the most overpriced thrift stores in the area. At times you can find a real bargain, but it's priced more like a consignment store. This store was meant to be a mission activity. While I know they do give to the community, many of the people that need help cannot afford to shop there. When I bargain shop I don't go to the Rainbow Shop. The employees are generally rude and short to the customers. Do not ever go there within a half hour of closing time if you don't want to be stalked or hassled. Is it really charity work if you spit in someone's face while "serving" them?? Many people in the area question if all donations even make it to the sales floor. I personally have seen very nice items dropped off and when I have inquired about them it is as if they never existed. They used to have a great "costume" collection and sometimes you can still find items for that "event". The long and short of it is take your donations somewhere else. Other stores will price them more reasonably and people that need to go there for school items or work clothes will actually be able to afford them. read more
