Wow I can't believe I haven't written a review for this salon before. I've been coming here with my mom since I got my very first haircut as a kid. 25 years later Linda is still here cutting some of the hottest styles. I've moved away from home to college and moved back home and tried other salons but they were all so pricey for average cuts and styles. Finally I remembered Linda and came back and realized the best salon was right in front of me the whole time. I always get treated well with a nice shampoo wash and then I show Linda a picture of what I'm thinking of or describe a style to her and she does the rest and come out looking amazing. UGH I really was hoping this place would be the one!! After reading all of the amazing reviews I was so sure... Context: I have straight dark brown virgin hair approximately shoulder length with some layers (due to old pixie-cut). I had been researching perm places in my area but all of them were very expensive! So I stumbled upon this place, probably 40 min away from my home, but I figured that I could call and maybe get a free consultation. So I called and spoke with a woman and she told me to come in the same day. Thinking that I'd get some advice and answers I went on my way. Got to the salon and took down my hair and she said it would be $65 but that was it. I had other questions which she didn't seem inclined to answer, this was the free consultation. 5 minutes to tell me how much it would cost... couldn't she have told me over the phone?! She wanted me to get the perm that day! But I wasn't able to. A few weeks go by and I am torn between going or finding another place. I suck it up and just go. I get inside and the place smells like old food mixed with hair chemicals, I'm not impressed but I'm polite. She was super sweet and we had good small talk. Sitting there, I saw a cockroach crawl close to my foot and mentioned it to her and she stepped on it. She apologized and went about her business. (This should have been the deal breaker). The process goes well and I finish my session. First impression of my hair was good! But as the hours passed I kept on noticing more and more problems with my perm. Kinked ends, fishtails, and overall not curly but more wavy. Not the look I wanted at all. I don't recommend this place if you want someone to walk with you step by step or even give you a good perm. Linda and Diane have always cut my hair, but now that they have retired, Melody has been cutting my hair for the past 2-3 years. I recently did a walk-in to get my hair dyed to a honey/caramel balayage and she was able to take me in the same day. Melody did an amazing job! Love the look and I also got a few compliments. I got a multi textured perm for my 25 inches long hair with Linda and it was quick and easy. Great results! If your tender headed make sure to let them know before starting the rollers so they can be gentler. Also remember your hair will frizz up until you get to wash it 3 days later lol I see some reviews complaining about the loss of curls/perm a day after the perm. Which is normal because your hair dried up. After you properly condition your hair the curls come back. Also you might need a trim after ANY perm to get rid of fried ends. read more

i went in for a root touchup, (im a level 9 blond with natural black hair) and a correction for a little banding on my hair, i asked the owner if it was something she'd be able to do. i was told that it's possible, without informing me my hair was dyed brown and the application was incredibly patchy. she somehow managed to create new sections of banding in my hair. Then once it was rinsed and i was able to see and voiced how i didn't like the color i was then gaslight by being told once it drys and fades it would be my desired blonde again. if someone who's a service provider doesn't have the skill set don't offer the service. Now i need a major color correction and a tone of work over something that was easily fixable before. read more

Linda has been doing my mother's and my hair for about 3 years now. She does a very good job, but you really need to give her specifics on what you want (the same with every hairdresser, especially a new one) to get the best job possible. I've been hunting all over the IE for a good hairdresser and paid as much as $70 for a cut. Linda's $25 outperforms them! She also did a color correction for my aunt after she fried her hair off with drugstore dye, and it looks great after just 3 sessions. She also highlights my mother's hair and she's always loved the results. Sometimes hours can differ from what is posted at the shop, so be sure to call ahead of time if you want to go close to closing time. I can't speak of the other stylists' work because I won't let anyone but Linda touch my hair :) read more

Don't come here unless you want to get scammed for your $$$ and lied to! Horrible experience. I called this place and asked how much was it to get my hair curled, the lady on the phone said depending on your length of hair and I told her it was by my shoulders and she said $35. Then I asked If I could make an appointment for my mother and me and she said yes. Saturday comes I meet the lady she has long nails and I think she's the owner. I show her the length of my hair and my mom as well and we ask her how much and she stated not much, same as we spoke over the phone. Then she sits me down and starts asking me where do I work at ? If I rent or own my home. Then she asked me what was the occasion and I said I'm the god mother of a sweet 15 so I wanted to get my hair done. Then she asked how much do I pay for bills and stuff which I didn't think of anything at first because I thought she was just trying to make conversation. Once she's done doing my hair and my mom's hair she tells me that our total is $75 each!!! I was so shocked and confused because that is not what she said over the phone and that's why before doing my hair I kept asking her. She said that I hadn't mentioned that I was the god mother of a sweet 15 and that's why it's more and that it wasn't just regular curls. When she didn't even blow dry my hair or pass the flat iron on my hair, all she literally did was curl my hair with a curler and do waves. No more than 20 mins. Like I could've seriously just done it myself. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for a service but tell me upfront don't be sneaky and try to gather information so you can decide if you can charge me a lot more. Definitely will not be going back! I let all my neighbors know and family and friends not to come here! Very shady and money hungry. I submitted edits for yelp to review the name and hours, posted pics though so you can check those out. I will say, I've only gotten my hair cut there, now, once and have gotten my hair cut a few times over the last few years. I was SO surprised by so many things. I mean the place is really nice, kind of a retro 80s decoration going on, but modern enough chairs and things. The lady who cut my hair seemed to understand English well enough but didn't say much. Despite that, she was really nice to me. I went really early, so nobody was there and it was private enough, only women working and nobody else getting their hair done, but for other Muslim girls, I did not see a private room, and I suspect that if it was a busier time it wouldn't have worked. I intend to go back to do something else with my hair and may update my review based on my second experience, but based on my 1st experience everything seemed right enough. Ambience a little off, but other than that good service, and GREAT price. She only charged me $15 for a cut, and for a female haircut that is just...unheard of for me. She also told me a perm would be $75, and I know those easily run $200. This place definitely deserves a chance guys. I'm definitely a fan. read more
