This place is horrible to get a haircut. I came here for my first time and while I was sitting there I noticed that no one cleaned their instruments after cutting hair. They just kept cutting one after another without ever sanitizing their instruments. I figured maybe they are and I happened not to notice so when it was my turn, I went ahead and got my usual fade. After being done I went to pay using my debit card and I was charged 75 cents to do so. I explained to the person charging me that I don't agree to this charge as it's illegal and he explained to me that everyone has to pay it. Not true! So I just went ahead and paid it. Afterwords I talked to my attorney friend and he affirmed me that it's totally illegal and that they can get fined. Companies can not charge fees for using your credit card or debit card period. It's illegal!! Anyhow after several hours of getting the hair cut sure enough the back of my head started to itch and the next day it got worse. After visiting a dr I was told that it was a fungus infection from probably getting a haircut and not properly sanitizing after each use. I knew it!! I will never come here again and I also want to warn people to be careful!! This business is doing so many things wrong!! Never again. read more

The wash felt incomplete, the service took much longer than expected, and the final result had noticeable frizz and uneven curls that did not look professionally finished. This place is a hit & miss, if you don't know the hair dresser you want the guy in the front will put you with the newest hire. Don't get me wrong some are great but some are just awful. I went there today & the lady in chair #5 gave me the worst hair cut in the world. She gave me a bob cut instead of layers I asked her to please cut some more she said no other wise your hair will look short because you short curly hair, she proceeded to sell me some product, no thank anything coming from your hell no. I've been coming here for a while. I don't have a regular, I just always take whoever is available. With that, it's always been a hit and miss (I definitely avoid the lady that stays seated) but this time it went too far. I always get a #6 on top and #2 on the sides. At first glance, I was happy and even gave a $5 tip. Normally I would go home and shower but this time I had to run errands so when she asked if I wanted gel, I said yes. I was out of the house for a few hours, got home and took a shower. As I was fixing my hair, I noticed a patch of hair missing. Seems like she made a mistake (it happened) but for her not to say anything, purposely didn't show me the back of my head and accepted the tip was totally disrespectful. If she would've told me, I would have her fix it and go with whatever needed to be done but instead, she let me walk out with a noticeable patch and that's unacceptable. Do NOT get your eyebrows done here. You get shoved into a cramped, small room and the person doing your eyebrows doesn't even sanitize their hands. The entire threading was rushed and took less than 2 minutes which should have already been a bad sign. The person even used tweezers to get the small hairs which is something I could have just done myself. Zero care or attention to detail. Then afterwards they rub your eyebrows with a used, dry towel and rub their hands all over your face and forehead. Unsanitary and horrible service. My haircut was ok to good but I gave this place a 2 star rating due to its service. The cut did not take long and they were freindly enough. They had enough parking since it was early and the place was not too busy. The business is on a small square striplet on the corner of Painter & Mullberry(which turns into Slauson). The haircut itself was good. I came here because I was not satisfied with my cut at the Kut & beauty in Pico Rivera. This place fixed that to a degree by taking my hair back to its shorter look. When I first arrived I looked around, I then said I needed a haircut when prompted. They discussed whose turn it was to cut hair, then I was taken and seated. I was not asked if I wanted the complimentary shampoo. I was told I was finished after the cut. I paid and left. In this economy, we must remind ourselves, customer service can make or break companies. I do not see myself coming back or recommending this hair salon. read more

I am going to write this as I sit here because I am going to forget. I've been driving all over Whittier and Santa Fe Springs trying to find a salon or barber shop open because my kiddo has picture day tomorrow. Apparently being a working parent has it's penalties since most places close at 6:00 pm (the hell!) So as I almost drove home defeated, I spotted this place. I am not even going to lie I was second guessing going in as it looks more like a beauty supply store than a hair cut place and I was really regretting my decision as the receptionist talked to me while taking a picture of her computer screen. But once my kiddo got on that chair the magic happened. Velma was his hairstylist and she was awesome. Being the conversationalist that I am, we got to talking and I found out her hubby is from my beautiful Mexicali and just for that I can say I love her. She was quick and left my kiddo looking and feeling like a rockstar (he keeps looking in the mirror...he is his mothers child after all) All I got to say is never judge a book by its cover...some of the best things in life aren't always pretty from the outside! read more

I have to say I am super impressed with the service I received here. I have never been to this location before but my hubby needed a haircut and wanted to try this place. It is small inside but they have a lot of hair products and nail supplies so I think all those counters take up a lot of space. When we went inside they greeted us right away and my hubby was able to sit down right away. While they were doing his hair the lady was very talkative and nice. There was a man at the front counter which I am assuming he is the owner. He was very nice. My daughter is 4 years old and has never had a haircut. She has beautiful hair and it was about that time for her to get a trim. I didn't think me asking her if she wanted a haircut she would say yes, but she did. So I was like what the heck let's try it. Then when they got the girl she got super scared because she is little and didn't know what to expect. The guy went and got her a lollipop which made her feel a little better. Since it was not packed I got to sit next to her and they put a cute kids apron around her. Once the lady started talking to her she started to feel better. They only cut off a couple inches but her hair looks great. At the end of the haircut they gave us a certificate to keep that said baby's first haircut. They also taped some of her hair to it so I can keep. The most precious gifts are the ones from your kids and her baby hair to keep is going to stick with me forever. My hubby actually said he got the best haircut he has had and is going to continue to come here. I don't know if I would come here personally for my hair only because I am paranoid about trying new places, it scares me when it comes to my hair. But who knows maybe one day I'll try it! read more

Very unprofessional. Went in to have my daughter get her hair cut, blow dry and wash. The blow dry charge is extra which was fine but when the owner told the "stylist" (Lupita chair #5) that I wanted her to get her hair blow dried she rolled her eyes and complained OUT LOUD that my daughter had to much hair and it was going to take to long! Take your money somewhere else! I have come here 4 times and each time to shave my head it's been $8-9. All of the sudden the guy charges me $13! Same haircut but he just decided to make his own prices I guess. After giving a tip it costed me $16 to simply shave my head from a 2 to a 0. Took less then 10 minutes. I'm only giving five stars for the eyebrow threading, Ritu is the best wouldn't go to anyone else, best time to go is during the week cause it does tend to get very busy in the weekends. I had come here on 10-31-15. I went to station 8. The stylist there asked what I wanted. I told her I wanted a 1" trim all over and let her know my hair was layered (it's past my shoulders). She cut my hair, but while doing so only wet half my hair for the cut. (Not just the bottom half, only one side of my head) she finished quickly. When I questioned her method of wetting only half my head for the cut (I had gone to cosmetology school) she merely replied "It's ok for someone who knows" with attitude. I had her wet all my hair to check. She then cut more hair (this after she was finished initially). When I left it did not feel right. I had gone there in the past and not had a problem. But this time was not like the last. I had someone else check my hair to check the outcome, and it was uneven. This review really isn't for the shop itself, but for the stylist who was at station 8 on 10-31-15 Saturday at approximately 2-2:30 pm. I haven't decided if I will return or seek another location for my hair cuts. read more
