I went on a deep dive yelp search and came across Ultra Hair Studio and saw people were saying good things about Amy and how she was good with curly hair. I made my appointment and it was such a great experience. The salon is cute and has calming vibes which is nice for relaxing. As for Amy she is fun, talkative, and really listens to what you want. My appointment was for 9 am which is also their opening time but they let me in when I got there 10 minutes early and greeted me warmly. Natalie was my stylist and I couldn't have been in better hands! She was very knowledgeable and helped me decide on a long term plan to get my hair healthy and my desired shade. I decided to talk to lovely Darlene about it and give it a try. I wanted a softer ombre and not the intense dark to blond look. She knew exactly what I was talking about. After having my hair long for years, I finally made the decision to cut it and although I was very apprehensive and nervous, Parris was very reassuring and I couldn't have been happier with the final look! I got my eyebrows threaded and a hair trim on a Saturday morning. I made an appointment - although it was busy, Maggie saw me right on time. Eyebrows - I had asked her to clean up my eyebrows. It was a lot less painful than all the other places I've gotten my eyebrows threaded at. The last time I waxed them was quite awhile ago, so I can't really compare the two pains. But I do remember that I barely teared when Maggie did my eyebrows. Then I asked her to shape it a bit - I didn't know how I wanted it, so I asked her to choose. She did an amazing job! Hair - so I came in for a trim, same cut that I had - just a bit shorter. After my wash, she started to "examine" my hair. She was very thorough and seemed to do a great job. Se kept my layers. Now the reason for the loss of a star - I've never seen my bangs cut the way she did them. But they looked okay after she blew dried my hair. Sooo the problem is that she curled my hair and stuff so I couldn't really see my hair until after I washed my hair to see how it looked. Although she kept the layers and the bangs, she seemed to have added her own style to it. I didn't really like the style in which she cut my bangs, but it seems to look okay. The layers look nice, although not as long as I had hoped... But that seems to be more my fault for not specifying when she cut it. All in all, thy are very nice and courteous. And my hair ended up looking pretty nice. read more

I highly recommend this place for many reasons. For one, Paris always gets it right. I am very easygoing and believe in letting the artist work their canvas, but for some reason every other place I went to would end up making my hair look the same. Not with Paris- she just gets it. She's highly trained and constantly working to improve her craft. She is teaching at a beauty college and that speaks for itself. My hair went from boring everyday curl to blonde bombshell. I found Ultra Hair Salon from yelp and first came into the salon as a walk-in. I was helped by Paris (or is it Parris?) who was fantastic. Very friendly and professional. I was going from blonde to dark and everyone knows that a terrible transition time. They use Schwarzkopf color which also happens to be what I've been using to color my hair since I started so that was a definite plus. Paris was very understanding and listened to everything I said. She has a good eye and cut my hair perfectly. I've gone to her a few times now and she always does a great job. The salon does get busy, but Paris has never shorted me on attention at any point of being there. The other stylists are just as friendly and personable as well. I definitely consider myself a regular now since I wouldn't trust my dye jobs to anyone else now. -The prices are on the lower end for salons that I've been to, but they are in the average price range for hair salons. You aren't going to be getting a Supercuts or a Fantastic Sam's cut/color so don't expect the prices to be. -The location can be tricky to spot, but keep in mind that it is at the end of the row of stores and nearby an empty lot on the corner. -Also when you first go they have you fill out a customer form thing and if you give them your email they on occasion have specials for a month or extra things that they offer at the salon.I took advantage of a cut&color one a few months ago. It's a really good deal. -they do close fairly early 6-7pm, but on one occasion Paris stayed a little later than usual to finish up my cut & color. I was working till late so I couldn't get there earlier, but she was amazing and worked with my schedule which definitely means a lot. read more

I got my hair done by Parris about a year ago (June 2017) and I am still receiving compliments on how good it looks. It was my first time changing my hair color in a long time and I asked for a balayage with light brown tones so that the change was subtle (since my hair is naturally brown) and Parris nailed it. Darlene has been cutting my hair for over 10 years and I'm so glad she opened her own shop! My hair is long and thick and other stylists had trouble taming my mane. I used to dread hair appointments (I've even left salons crying) and would wear a ponytail or baseball hat most days until I met Darlene. Darlene does an amazing job with my hair, taking the time to make sure each strand of hair is cut, colored, and put into place. I love that she offers honest advice and isn't afraid to tell me that a color or haircut will not work with my face shape or hair type. She has also come in early or stayed late to accommodate my busy work schedule. The shop is super cute but small (so advance appointments are a must).
