It's personal training in a small group setting. The workout changes every day so over the course of a week, even if you don't go every day, you work your entire body. Some days are strength training, some are cardio, some are both! I typically burn 300-400 calories - and the workouts are only 45 minutes long - including warm up and cool down. You can't get more efficient than that. The trainer, Grant, will help you modify any exercise to your fitness level. The equipment is state of the art and very clean. They offer FREE CHILDCARE, which is a massive benefit. My kids beg to come with me to Burn because the play room is so much fun, full of (very clean!) toys, arts & crafts and very warm and loving childcare workers. I've been bringing my youngest since she was a baby and I've always felt comfortable with the care provided. A bonus is that you can peek in on the kids through a window throughout your workout, which is great for peace of mind. I had no expectations when I joined Burn 2 years ago. To say it's changed my life is an understatement. I've dropped pounds, inches, and lowered my percentage of body fat. I have more energy than ever, a better attitude and I've made some pretty fantastic friends along the way.

I tried the free trials at 3 other local gyms that were comparable to Burn. In the end I chose Burn for the the childcare aspect, the community and the classes. Child care is huge for me because of my smaller Children. The community is great. The culture is uplifting and welcoming. The owner Robyn goes out of her way to make everyone that walks through the door feels welcomed and informed. Grant and Diane follow suit. They train and encourage all members. There are other trainers but I have not worked with them. But from what I know of the culture I'm sure they have that same welcoming and encouraging strength. The classes have different levels of difficulty and can be modified for any type of comfort level. Amy and Jackie are usually at the front desk checking people in and welcoming everyone. They have taken the time to know my kids names and also welcome them when they walk through the door. Truly this place is such a great place for everyone. There is also a sit down consultation to find where you can improve on your eating and see results of the progress you're making. I do not take as much advantage of this but I probably should. I'm not ready to give up my food but I can say I feel stronger and there has been a change to my body. I will recommend Burn to everyone I know. If you're on the fence I say jump. You will not regret it.

    My wife & I started doing the Group Classes at "The Rough House" this past year (we both have found…read morethat when we do our own workout on our own or at a gym, we never workout as hard), so we go faithfully multiple times a week now to the "Rough House." We come from a CrossFit background and like how these group classes are affordable & still very challenging, but I'm not injuring myself like I did before. Weekly class offerings are diverse as well ("Boot Camps" are more HIIT, "Sweat Fest" is more cardio, "Circuit City" is a mix, etc ...). The best part though is the community. The people there are awesome! Every coach is a winner in kindness, welcome, and yet also pushing & challenging us all to work our bodies to the last second: As one Rough House Coach says, "You don't have to, you get to!" Beyond the great workouts though, its the warm community vibe that keeps us going more than anything. We've grown to really love these people.

I ran across The Rough House and decided to try in hotel / at home personal training for a trip and that's how I experienced what The Rough House trainers can do. The trainer, Colin, took assessment information prior to my trip then customized and optimized the time we had. Not only did I not miss a beat for fitness and nutrition habits during that trip, but I also was sharper and more energized then slept better during my visit. What I appreciated was the attention to detail and how well tailored the workouts were to the needs and goals I mentioned, then also, to things I didn't know to ask for. Last thing, the workouts were fun.

I hate the inevitable grunting, I hate that I'm not in better shape, I hate getting all sweaty, and I kinda hate how fricken happy Janet sounds cheering us to get lower while planking or to lift our legs higher during tabata drills. As much as I complain, I keep going. I must love it deep down. I truly do. I love Janet as a coach because she's kind and will push you, but she won't push you harder than she knows you can handle. She's experienced enough to be able to show you how to modify movements or do different exercises if something, like an injury, prevents you from being able to do it properly. I also love that I can feel the workout immediately and the following days, and my weight didn't drop for a while but my clothes were fitting better and I felt stronger. Janet Jackson can help you achieve your goals and live a healthier life without making you feel like you're being badgered by a drill sergeant. In the end, despite all the sweat (coming from me) and the swearing (also coming from me), I love this workout!

The size of the Monday night class is not big mind you, but the workout you'll receive is huge. I've been seeing Janet for over three months now. I was introduced to Janet and TRX at Patriot Boxing. Patriot and Janet have since broken up and like with most break ups...my loyalty stayed with the ladies...of Its Fitness that is! The workouts are just as challenging as they were before if not more so - which I never thought would be possible. We start our swearing...err work out outside. We warm up, we lunge, we jog, we sprint and we plank. We've also skipped and played tag. Sounds fun right? Well, it's not. It makes me want to skip all over someone's face! I might have some anger issues... After our school yard shenanigans, we head inside the confines of Olympia Chiropractic Center where all the TRX gear is set up. We grab our straps, crank up some tunes and pray for sweet death. We squat, we lunge, we plank. We do pushups, jump squats and mountain climbers. We work our biceps, our triceps, our shoulders and other muscles I never knew existed until I took this class. We cool down and then thank the heavens that we made it through another class. Now, I know I have a flair for the dramatic but this review is not a total over exaggeration. This class is intense and it WILL kick your booty. It sounds intimidating but you know what is not intimidating? Janet Jackson (Miss Jackson if ya nasty...that will never get old). She is a sweetheart but don't let that fool you. She knows how to push you to your limit. And the participants in the class are REAL people. We sweat (a lot), we bitch and we moan...together. United we stand, together we fall...in a big puddle of blood, sweat and tears. If you are looking for an affordable kick start into fitness, Its Fitness is for you.

She has really encouraged me to push myself to my limits! Her workouts are always challenging and never boring, though I really do hate burpees... Tamara's energy (and meticulous planning) keeps my heart rate up during the entire workout and after each session I have a different set of muscles that are sore--in a good way! Aside from Tamara, what makes Fitt stand out is the community. The trainers and instructors are there to support you and help you achieve your goals. They are knowledgeable and will give you their honest opinion when asked--be it about training or diet. The clients also are very easy to talk to and friendly. There is a lot of laughter before and after class (a lot of sweating and panting during...). It is a true community, but not an overbearing one. You can put your head down and silently power through your workout at your own level. Also, Fitt's classes are amazing. The variety offered ensures that you can hit all of your muscles throughout the week through the various strength training and TRX classes or burn up the calories in those more cardio-centric. Classes fly by, not just because of the music, but because of the energy from the instructors--they keep it light, focused, and do not waste time.

Yoga is a great way to stretch and strengthen, as well as, a way to center your mind and clear your head. It has been difficult for me to find a yoga studio that is close to home and has hours for people who work. When I saw Shoucha pop-up in a Yelp search I was elated. This is a small place. The classes I have attended have about 6 students. It looks like 9 people could fit in the space. At first I thought that was bad but then I realized that it made the class feel more personal. The instructor can pretty much see you at a glance and can offer suggestions and adjustments to your poses. Bring your own mat. If you don't have one, they have ones you can rent. I think it costs $1. You can use a multitude of props at no cost. I don't think they do walk in classes but you can sign up for one easily on the website. There is a new student special; $20 for unlimited classes for two weeks. This place has regular yoga and some yoga body bootcamp thing that I want to try. They also offer guided meditation that I will check out later this week.

Soft carpeting warms the floor while hanging plants and the soft glow of Christmas lights give life to the picture window seen from the outside. The soft "hum" of the cars on Main Street and St. Charles will eventually just become part of the studio's presence, rather than an annoyance. Music is played throughout class, (60-75 minutes), and will vary each time. What you take away from the sounds will be different for each person. There's a class for everyone, ranging from Vinyasa Flows, Meditation, to Boot Camp classes. It's recommended to view their schedule on the website or send an e-mail to the studio if you're not familiar. Age is not considered a factor for the practice, you just need to be willing. Each instructor will work with you on variations to each pose, and props are provided. Forgot your mat? There's extra to rent for $1. You will discover what you're truly capable of at Shoucha.
