Continued maintenance issues, spa is down, toilets don't work, and there's times when leaks are happening in the middle of equipment on floor 2! It feels that the members are paying for more maintenance vs increased services or equipment... I've spoken to regional leaders and even Tim, and yet have they been able to articulate the WHY behind the increase that increases the experience of the member. It's always maintenance related... I invited a friend to this Life Time Fitness location expecting a high-end experience, but unfortunately it turned into a very disappointing situation. His belongings were stolen from the men's locker room, and we immediately filed a police report. After over a month of no communication, management finally reached out saying they "might" have a suspect. About a week later, we were told the bag had suddenly reappeared in the locker room after a nightly check--which raises serious concerns. When we retrieved the items, cash ($300) and a YSL cologne were missing. There are too many inconsistencies, and the situation feels poorly handled and unprofessional. What's more concerning is the lack of accountability--calls to the GM have gone unanswered, and no effort has been made to offer compensation or reassurance. For a facility that markets itself as luxury, this experience fell far below expectations. I've also since heard of similar incidents happening in the men's locker room, which is alarming. read more

I've been a member at Life Time since this location opened around 2020, and up until today, I've honestly never had any complaints. The staff has always been great, and the facility is consistently clean and well-maintained. However, I had a very concerning experience this morning. I arrived around 5 a.m., as I do every day, and went into the sauna like usual. As soon as I walked in, I noticed a very strong, sour odor. It was unusual, but I stayed for about 10 minutes. Shortly after, another member came in, and I asked if she noticed the smell as well--she did. Afterward, I looked into it, and odors like that can sometimes be caused by mold or bacteria growing in the wood. I'm not an expert, but given how heavily used the sauna is, this is something that should be monitored and addressed promptly. With the number of members using the facility daily, maintenance checks need to be frequent and proactive. Now, just a few hours later, I'm experiencing a terrible migraine and sinus irritation, and it honestly feels like I'm still smelling the odor. It was a very unpleasant and concerning experience. I'm sharing this because I've always had a positive experience here, and I hope management takes this seriously. I am so impressed with this health club - it is by far one of my favorites. After 40 years plus of working out in various clubs, I have never seen a club so clean and organized. Staff goes above and beyond, helping you navigate the different classes and just getting around. Classes are excellent and I love the variety. I am struggling so hard with this review and it is based solely on the pool. First, it is stunning. The chairs and lounge areas are so amazing. The pools were nice sized and clean. But WTF is up with the food there? We were served fries that hadn't even seen a warmer, they were literally out of the bag frozen. The popcorn chicken was like eating a sponge. It's the best health club around, and I've been to plenty in the area for over 25 years. They have separate workout rooms dedicated to yoga, pilates, spin, zumba and weight classes. So no dragging equipment around to setup for a class. The cardio, weights and machine area is big enough so it doesn't feel crowded. Very clean everywhere. The spa is wonderful. We play pickelball and instructors Ann and Alvin are friendly and knowledgeable. We've learned quite a bit since starting. And again, we've taken a lot of pickleball and tennis lessons over the years. Hightly recommend. The staff is very friendly and helpful. In the summer it's nice to hang out on the roof after a workout. Winter we hit the lounge sometimes and great service. read more

Lifetime Oakbrook has become a shadow of its former self, and much of the blame falls squarely on Ann De Padua. In every interaction I've had--and from what dozens of fellow pickleball players have shared--Ann comes off as abrasive and domineering, acting as if she's the ultimate arbiter of the game. Yet, in a stunning display of hypocrisy, she enforces rules selectively while blatantly ignoring them herself. Her management style isn't just authoritarian--it's downright toxic. Over petty, personal beef, she banned me from league play, an action that speaks volumes about her skewed sense of power rather than any genuine commitment to fair play. I'm not alone in this experience; I can easily name 30 to 50 players who've chosen to walk away from a program that has lost its integrity under her rule. What's even more disheartening is the utter indifference from the higher-ups. GM TK appears to turn a blind eye to the countless complaints, leaving the program to wither away under poor leadership. With Ann's near non-existent emotional intelligence and a complete lack of empathy, it's hard to see how Lifetime Oakbrook can ever recover its once vibrant community spirit. Simply put, if you value fairness, respect, and leadership that leads by example, steer clear of Lifetime Oakbrook. I've been a member of Lifetime for a long time and they keep raising the monthly rate while also downgrading the amenities and quality of service at the gym. I'm not a fan of the new mat protocol in the yoga classes. The old mat protocol (where there were clean mats out for all spots) was better. Now people who come late disturb the class with noise. People who leave early disturb the class even more, since we're now forced to clean our mat and people will clean them right in the middle of shavasana. This significantly ruins the experience of the class. Since we have to clean the mats ourselves there is no knowing if the person who cleaned the mat before me did a good job. I wonder how many more people will get athletes foot from this new protocol. Curious if they're cutting the old program because they want to pay the teachers less. It's disappointing. For now I'll be bringing my own mat. I'm not happy, Lifetime. It might be time to look for a new gym. read more

UPDATE: This place has become a JOKE, TOTAL JOKE. They used to care about their patrons. Tonight, they sent an email revoking me senior father who was grandfathered into our membership (after my 66 year old mother passed away) and sending an email they were revoking him for a "non-compliant membership." My father has become endeared by the trainers there having lost 80 pounds working with them after my mom passed. The email I received in the body said it was from Darius, but the email address was Anaryiros and the signature was Jerry - the membership concierge at Burr Rudge? Being in marketing this makes me laugh because it also shows how little care they put into sending anything to their customers - because they DON'T CARE. It's a reflection of what a joke this whole organization has become - right from the top. They raise prices on the daily, water is constantly dripping in from the ceilings, when the hallway isn't caving in at the entrance during the winter, and they aren't even offering half the amenities they used to in the locker rooms! The classes this summer have also been cut in half, even though dues keep going up. Now this, revoking a membership via email with a weeks notice before months end, of my senior father. I thought big pharma was the devil, but know now it's Lifetime who has such a monopoly over this area in regards to the gym market, people don't feel they can join anywhere else to get the same amenities. I pray for the day when a larger gym with comparable ammenities that actually cares about keeping members, comes and wipes this behemoth of a customer service nightmare off the radar. Then, maybe they'd get a taste of their own medicine - treating their patrons like a fly feeding off the dog crap on their shoes. Unbelievable roof top pool and cabanas. Felt like I was in Las Vegas! Great Sunday afternoon hanging with friends. They didn't have any draft beer nor canned cocktails but they did have a decent option of bottled beer as well as standard cocktail options. Food was decent, small portions and tasted pretty good. We ordered guacamole and salsa, hummus, and ceviche. Chips were what you could find in store and veggies were average. Only good thing we ate was the guac and hummus. I also had shrimp tacos which were pretty tasty (spicy) and comes with two (2) tacos. Staff was very friendly. read more

As someone who pays almost 300 dollars a month, I would like to be greeted with a warm hello and a smile. Their front desk is a teen girl(brown hair) who honestly hates her job and it shows. I've never been greeted and instead I receive a stank attutide with an RBF, let alone takes her 5 minutes to scan me in. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. This is a common occurrence. Smells like a sewer that they are trying to cover up w perfume. Dirtiest gym I've ever been in. There are piles of dust and debris everywhere. I'm downgrading my membership because this place is so awful and I won't ever come here again. It was so dirty in the weight section that I cut my workout short and decided to do some cardio; unfortunately I had to try about 4 treadmills before I found one that wasn't broken. Most of the TV'S are broken as well. I initially signed up at the Oakbrook location and only came here a couple of times at the beginning, but decided to give it another shot: which I should not have. I have consistenly been using the Burr Ridge location because it is super nice, immaculate, and has an amazing staff. read more

This one is overpriced for what you get. I'm a Life Time member at another location and was underwhelmed by this one even though it's actually more of an elite club with a higher cost. In comparison, the locker room is cramped and dated, there aren't lanes in the outdoor pool, and the outdoor pool itself is pretty small. It leans into being more of a club with neon parties and bars on site, which seems to account for the higher cost. As an avid swimmer, I was disappointed in this location's aquatic offerings. It is pricy. Short answer is: if you can possibly afford it- join. I don't use kids club (kids are grown) but kids and parents love it. I don't use pool much (not my thing). We get a slightly better price through our health insurance. But this is worth it at full price. This review is based on my experience with group fitness and some use of ellipticals, bikes, weights etc. Yoga is great to stellar. I finally stopped writing a compliment on their internal site after each class because it seemed silly. Only one teacher has been ONLY great. The others have been spectacularly great. So easy to follow. So encouraging. So challenging. Facility is lovely. Barre Classes are just fabulous. Every single class has an instructor who gives you an 11 out of 10 experience. Great cuing and explanations of ways to modify if you're injured, need more challenge, etc. These teachers are an amazing group. Geniuses all at working with people who are in beginning stages of fitness journey and beasts alike. Some classmates look like a Lululemon model (super strong, gorgeous muscles, little body fat) and others are guys looking for flexibility, teen athletes (same) or folks like me who are soft in the middle and trying to get strong. How do these teachers work so well to keep all of us challenged, motivated, and safe? Brilliant. Dance fitness is fine to good. I'd like more of a hip-hop option that doesn't follow the Zumba rules as much but Mim is great at zumba and my spouse likes a couple other classes. One great instructor is no longer there. Mat pilates: only 2 classes a week - but great!!!! I'm just starting reformer pilates (extra charge) and the program seems fabulous. The dynamo who leads the pilates department is a brilliant teacher and motivator (she also teaches some weight training and other fitness classes) and is very customer-service oriented. She's sensitive to making sure people who sign up for a pilates group class package can get in to take classes and communicate with instructors. I hear spinning classes, GTX and others are great. I've been a member for three years now. Knocking off a star because the men have a cold plunge in their locker room - but the women don't. Yet, we pay the same membership price. What in the patriarchy is that?!? The "pink tax" is real, ladies. Otherwise, love the place. Hot tips: 1) Lauren W is the GOAT trainer and also teaches a great GTX. 2) Strike Boxing Conditioning with Jessica is the BEST studio class. I feel like it's slept on. Great workout and great music. This is one of the best gyms I have been in. As soon as you enter you feel like you are in an upscale luxurious spa like space. There are 3 indoor pools. One adult lap pool, one zero entry pool and one family activity pool. Left guards always around. Pools always clean and well kept. Water temperature is perfect. Locker rooms always clean and well maintained. Never had an issue with lack of towels even during busy times. Second floor is all about activities. We have done yoga, barre, and strength classes. All have amazing instructors. Haven't tried any cycling classes yet. Third floor is weights and machines. You can literally find anything you wish to use. It does get crowded at times though. Rooftop has two outdoor pools and a restaurant. We just love this place. It's very clean, feels exclusive, luxurious, and you would really enjoy your work out there. Kids activities are plenty and the kids love going there. Honestly the classes for kids also compete with what the park district has to offer. Truly has everything you need. Highly recommended. It is a little expensive but you get what you pay for. read more

First off this could easily be a 5 star review as I love the place, employees and patrons. The rooftop pool, bar with food is awesome. I also agree with the other review where the women felt not having a cold plunge pool was not good. I've heard conflicting stories why they don't have one, one being they wanted a makeup room instead. The classes they offer look awesome as does the gym. Now for my problems with this awesome facility, it's often very dirty on the rooftop area and men's locker room. I often find the sinks disgusting with facial hair and spit in them. Garbage cans overflowing and the floors dirty. Every employee from the newest hire, to management should be focused primarily on general appearances. Given the cost and location of this center I think most of us expect it to be beautiful and clean. I do blame the customers partly who trash the place as I put my own trash in the garbage and clean my sink after using it, but were not all that polite. I overhear customers talking about dirty mirrors and dust bunnies in the workout area that have been there for weeks. It tends to give the wrong impression as to how often its being cleaned and sanitized. Second and very discouraging are the people who take stacks of cold paper towels and place them on the safety heat sensor in the men's steam shower. This over rides the safety mechanism and causes the steam to come out non stop. This is EXTREMELY dangerous to the skin and most importantly the lungs and causes the blood pressure to increase. I was a firefighter for 33 years and I go to this to help my lungs repair. Many of us cannot even enter the room due to the extreme temperatures. After they throw the paper towels all over the floor causing a mess in the room. I feel it's only a matter of time until someone has a medical issue in there and holds Lifetime liable for it. If I was in management there I would install a metal cage style box around the sensor so inconsiderate people cannot access it and over ride the safety sensor built into it to maintain a safe environment. Also a sign on the door warning that any attempt to over ride the safety will result in your membership being canceled. This is a liability issue that should be taken care of immediately. Last but kind of weird to me is Lifetime does not recycle glass and aluminum products from the bar. They go in the garbage, and considering they brag about the small plastic bags by the swim suit spinner as being made from recycled ocean plastics, I would think they would take their own recycling program up to current standards. I would most certainly change my review to the 5 star that they could easily have if they would address these issues as I truly believe the customers and staff would want to be in a clean safe environment. read more

When you go there it's not just a gym to work out, but it's a full experience from the cafe to the classes to fantastic trainers and many more. I've even met some new friends there through their classes which has been so fun. They have a great variety of workout classes with different times, something for everyone. Love this place. Masks are optional which isn't the best idea considering the mess we're in currently with omicron. Love the outdoor pools (2), but mostly are for adults not very kid friendly (burr ridge is kid friendly). The indoor pools (3), have one zero entry pool which is nice. And 2 lap pools. Everything is state of the art. The classes are my fav, particularly barre. 4 not 5 stars because classes are only until noon Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I love Life Time! I mostly use the fitness floor, both with a terrific trainer (they are all good) as well as on my own. The indoor lap pool is very nice. I haven't experienced the classes yet, but hear that they are great. The spa is excellent, the technicians do a great job, and it is super clean. The outdoor pool deck is beautiful, they play great music, have ice water available, and the cafe/bar is a real plus, except if it's super busy. The downstairs bar and the coffee shop are nice places to hang out, too. The staff gets to know your name and are all friendly and welcoming. I definitely feel relaxed after I go, as if I've been to a luxury resort, because that's what it is. read more
