Plus, there was zero hassle dealing with them. Zero. From start to finish, it went smoothly. The initial sales, estimates, explanations of choices were simple and clear. The crew and their foreman were skilled and answered all my questions. The office staff were similarly responsive, clear and prompt. And finally, the final inspection was detailed, caring, and even provided a great recommendation for the next project, replacing windows wrecked in the same hailstorm. We're using the firm recommended. When I was young, my Dad ran a construction company, 1960's and 70's. I loved going to job sites with him. I'm no expert, but I've done a lot of remodeling since then. When I couldn't handle something, I've hired a number of contractors over the years. It has never gone this well. Why not? From my first conversation with Gilbert, I could tell he genuinely cared about my situation. He and Darren came out quickly, were very responsive, answered my questions, and took my concerns seriously. Solid Ground is a newer company, but Gilbert and Darren are not new to this work. They are local Billings guys with years of experience in the restoration industry who started their own company after the company they previously worked for closed. They have the proper certifications and insurance, which was extremely important to me, and their bid was also much more reasonable than several others I received. I left the house for 12 minutes and came back to what can only be described as a mid-sized lake with furniture. I don't know how to explain this, but these guys didn't just fix the water--they intimidated it. I watched a grown man point at a puddle and it retreated like it had somewhere else to be. At one point I'm 90% sure they opened a portal in my hallway and sent the moisture to another dimension. I didn't ask questions because frankly it felt above my pay grade. My dogs, who fear nothing (including consequences), sat down quietly and just observed. One of them made eye contact with a technician and then immediately re-evaluated his life choices. They brought in equipment that looked like it was borrowed from NASA or possibly a superhero movie. I'm pretty sure one machine hummed in a way that corrected my posture. Also--this is important--my house is now so dry I clapped and heard an echo. I dropped an ice cube and it filed for evaporation immediately. The foundation? Solid. The vibes? Immaculate. The crawl space? Honestly feels like a place you could go to reflect and grow as a person.
