I hired Custom Kitchen Refacers (AKA Remodel Washington DC) to do an addition to my home in Washington, DC. The job was to last between 4-6 months, but due to delays with sub-contractors, it took almost a year. In addition to having to correct oversights throughout the construction process, once I made the final payment, I noticed a number of minor issues that should have been caught during construction had they done their due-diligence. I called them back and they did make minor adjustments.
One issue that remains unaddressed is insulation for part of a crawl space that they thought I would never enter. I paid extra for foam insulation and when my pest control specialist entered the space, he noticed that (i) they had not installed foam insulation, but rather the cheaper batting insulation. In addition, instead of properly installing the batting to the ceiling, they used moisture barrier to keep the batting from falling. This is against code (and common sense) as barrier is not meant to be on the ceiling as moisture can collect there. They also (for some unknown reason) stapled the moisture barrier to a wooden frame so that the barrier can't be pulled back for pest treatment. I never asked for this.
I have been trying to obtain a response from the company (which also goes by the name Remodel Washington DC) since June 2024 to see how they will address this issue to no avail.
Given all that I've gone through I would not recommend this company. read more
