I hired this man through Thumbtack in 2020. Haven't had the gumption to write a review until now, because at that time, there were only positive reviews left for this business (which have since been archived as "not recommended" by Yelp). I'm glad other customers have been brave enough to share their experiences here. My experience was very similar to other reviewers. He was a now-show several times or he was consistently 4-8 hours late for the job, with zero explanation given. Would not return text messages or phone calls. Irreparably damaged my dining room furniture, my walls, my curtains, and my vertical blinds. He took my vertical blinds home with him because he claimed he didn't have the proper equipment to trim them on site. He kept my blinds for several weeks, claiming he couldn't return them any sooner because he wasn't in my area (Federal Way). But here is the real kicker, and this is going to sound absolutely unbelievable: He didn't do any measuring when he hung my curtain rods: no ruler, no leveler, no tape, nothing. He "eyeballed" it, and as a result, the rod wasn't level and the support brackets didn't line up. Multiple adjustments (drilling new holes) were needed, BECAUSE HE WASN'T WILLING TO MEASURE ANYTHING. I hired Craig December 2023 to repair the motor on one of my motorized blinds. After at least ten trips to my place over a year and a half, he has not repaired that blind. It still does not work and I have paid him $1500.00 for a new motor that was never received. He clearly did not know what he was doing and I feel that I was ripped off. Do not hire this person!!! He now keeps giving me excuses for the delay but he clearly has no intention of returning. He is just not ethical or honest. read more

UPDATE 6/22 Apparently this isn't over, as Craig has decided to reply to this review (now, instead of before he showed up at our house) with blatant lies. He never recommended that we get all new blinds after sending in our measurements, and when specifically asked if he could do the job, we were told he could. If issues arose in the cutting-down process as he claims, we were never made aware of them. At no point did he say he was installing these "against his better judgment". This claim is especially baffling because it is incompatible with objective reality: the job WAS doable, because eventually we DID get all of our blinds working. His claim we refused his offer to put up new blinds after the fact is also false. We never received any such offer: perhaps this was his intent when he showed up at our home unannounced, but we never received any offer and therefore could not have refused it. Even if these things were true, it doesn't explain his crew showing up between two and eight hours late to every job, nearly losing our blinds, or the other issues noted in our original review. The longer this goes on the more desperately I wish there was a zero star option on Yelp. If I knew all of this would happen from a simple cut job, I would have just paid for new blinds from the start. EDIT 6/24: Just so this doesn't become an "our word against his" thing, attached is an email excerpt where we notified Craig of our blind sizes and he responded without giving us any indication that the sizing would be a problem or that he was installing them "against his better judgment". What a disappointment! Craig told me he could clean my Hunter Douglas Shilouette light blocking shades safely and of the 7 shades only 1 was not visibly damaged, 1 was completely destroyed and not even returned. He then told me the shades were covered under warranty with Hunter Douglas and he would have them replaced under warranty. After months of promises that he was working the problem I have given up on him and his empty promises. I finally had to order new shades from a Hunter Douglas. $1200 later I will have two replaced shades and four that are passible but still have visible signs of damage. I get mistakes are made. But I cannot abide people and companies that are not honest. read more

Several owners in my condo building hired Craig to store, clean and re-install the blinds in our units and his service is awful! He loses blinds, doesn't clean them, doesn't show up when he says he will, and doesn't respond to texts and emails. That he's been in business this many years is shocking. In February 2021, we asked this company to procure and install cordless, wireless vertical blinds with a single multichannel remote (Craig recommended the single remote) for 3 high, angled windows. After Craig came and took measurements, he left a quote on my voice mail within a couple of days, but I did have to ask several more times for the written quote (which was not broken out into materials vs labor). When I finally got Craig on the phone he had already ordered the materials, even though he had agreed not to order anything until I OKed the written quote. His written quote was also slightly higher than the quote he had left in voice mail. Craig installed 3 non-cordless, non-wireless angled blinds with valances made for regular windows so they did not fit within the window frames. When we asked him what happened, he told us what we wanted was not available. When we asked him why he didn't tell us that before he installed everything, he did not have an answer. (It's worth noting that the day after installation, the vanes that hang from the rail had visibly curled up and warped, which was visible from inside and outside the house.) He asked for a chance to fix it, so we gave him a week to come up with some other options. The only option he provided was 3 scanned pages from a catalog with no context, no recommendations, and no pricing. I contacted Craig and told him we would not be proceeding further, and that we would be requesting a refund (I did not specify an amount). He was not receptive to the refund discussion, but agreed to come and remove the blinds the following week. My husband called him several days later to try to work something out with the refund situation before he came to remove everything; he told my husband he would call back, but he never did. The day he was supposed to come take down the blinds he was a no-show, no-call. The following week we sent an email and a certified letter to him telling him we were still willing to work something out; he just needed to supply a copy of his invoice(s) from Hunter Douglas, and we could discuss refund amounts. We clearly asked him to contact us via email only. We gave him 2 weeks to respond and told him if we couldn't reach an amicable agreement we would refer the situation to PayPal for resolution. Craig called us (did not email) a few days after he received the letter and email and offered us a $250 refund out of a $750 deposit. That was the first time we had heard back from him since 2 weeks prior, when I informed him we would not be proceeding with the project. I told him we could discuss a refund amount once we received his invoices as requested, and if we agreed on an amount he could come and pick up the materials. He agreed to send the invoices, and that was the last time we heard from him. We removed the materials ourselves and they're just sitting in the garage. For anyone who considers using PayPal for this company or another: it turns out that a PayPal account under a personal name and not a company name is not eligible for PayPal's dispute process, as PayPal considers it a family/friends payment. We didn't know that before, but we do now. Hope that helps anyone who considers using PayPal in the future. Overall this was a disappointing, frustrating, and expensive lesson learned. read more

Craig returned my contact within a few hours and made an appointment to pick up our 5 sets of blinds. He gave us an assessment and time estimate on the spot, and within a week we had a full set of blinds with brand new draw strings which all work perfectly. read more

Craig was really talented in fixing some very dated blinds and remounting them. It preventing me from investing a ton to buy new shades. I'm pretty shocked he was able to fix the inner mechanism on one that seemed very far gone. The guy knows his blind repair! I would recommend him. read more

I don't know the deal with this company. The first guy who came out was Rick. He was respectful, prompt, engaging and listened to what I wanted. When he came back, he brought Craig. That's when it went south. Craig was disrespectful of my home, me and my time. Making a long story short, after the measure, I was to receive an email with an estimate. I selected my brand and color and waited and waited and waited. I then reached out to Craig to find out why I hadn't gotten the estimate. He of course passed the buck to the shutter company but promised I'd have the estimate by the end of the week. I guess the end of the week never came. I reached out again and again was disappointed. This time the email from the shutter company to him was "late". It's now been well over a month. I still have yet to hear from Craig about the estimate or anything else. Needless to say I moved on to another company who values communication, honesty and respect for potential customers. Very disappointed in this company and their lack of professionalism. If Yelp had a 10 star rating, Craig would get it. This man is awesome!! He has been installing shades for a long time and it shows. From the moment I met him it was a great experience. I can only imagine the different scenerios that he must walk into. For me it was not only installing my new shades but then reinstalling the drapes I also had. I know, it sounds strange and Craig thought it was funny as well. He doesnt know this yet but I do plan on getting the Roman shades soon. LOL. Anyway, I could go on forever but trust me....if you ever need shades installed...give this man a call. I will give you one brief encounter that we ran into....in the process of installing my blinds it was determined that he had to drill a new holes into my ceiling. He had asked prior to coming if I had concrete ceiling. (I live in a condo). I told him I did not think so....well I do. He tried his best to use the drill bits that he had to make the hole. No good. So off he went to a hardware store (in downtown Seattle), at rush hour, to get a concrete drill bit. Came back and finished the job. There were other things that were above and beyond as well but I will let you experience that when you call him. Just make sure you enjoy the "click" of the blinds going into the bracket. I contacted Craig after reading good reviews here. The rope for a shade installed five years earlier by someone else had gotten stuck and we couldn't get the shade to lower. Craig figured out the problem right away, and ordered the required part. He took the shade to his shop, brought it back to us in working order in a few days, and reinstalled it. He charged a reasonable price for this courteous and successful service. He was considerate about letting me know his arrival time and efficient in his use of time in our home. read more

Our experience with these people was NOT good. They were hired to replace the curtains on the boat I work on and it came out terrible. We tried and tried to get it done right. The blinds they installed have a string running down the middle of them. In an observation lounge the windows have blinds with strings running down the middle when they are OPEN!! Some have broken and quit working properly after only 4 months. Do your homework, look around and think twice about these people. read more
