We were finally able to complete a panel replacement job for our home yesterday after having started it just about four months ago. Custom Electric Services was at no fault for this long timeframe, but I wanted to share that background as my experience in working with the company through the many phone calls, site visits and reschedules that had to happen in coordinating with Seattle City Lights was incredibly pleasant and stress-less. Everyone I had talked to either on the phone or on site was always friendly and happy to answer any of the many, many questions I had throughout the process. In particular, I wanted to give a shout out to Peter and Evan (I think?) who had come out to our house three or four times throughout the last several months. Peter in particular, throughout the whole process, was always very friendly and kept us in the loop at every step, including delays in inspections, the work he was doing, and updates as the project went on. He was always happy to answer my questions (there were a lot) and even saved me from frying some electronics due to an ignorant wiring job on my end (thanks!). I'm thoroughly impresses with the quality and skill he provided in the work on our house. He also made friends with our notoriously new-people-hating dog! Regarding pricing, after originally receiving quotes from 4-5 different companies, Custom Electric Services was very reasonable and sat right about in the middle of those that I received. These folks were fantastic to work with from quote to work. Very quick to reply to quote requests with competitive pricing. That being said, the best part is that they delivered. I reached out to Custom Electrical Services' via their website after they were suggested to me by a friend. I received a phone call from Josh the very next day to give me information and pricing about the work I needed done. I only need a ceiling fan on a vaulted ceiling in my master bedroom changed out, so I knew it was a small job and something that may not be worth it to them. To my surprise, albeit they had a job minimum, they were more than willing to do the job and do it quickly. Josh and I had it scheduled within a week or so of me originally contacting them. On Monday Travis and Jeremy arrived with the fan I had picked out (they picked it up for me!) and got right to work. They even ran to Home Depot for me and picked up a part (because I ordered the wrong size) in the middle of the job. They were kind, quick and very professional. The guy who showed up for service was not wearing a face mask, we had to remind him twice. He wore it after we asked, although without covering the nose area. 2. The original estimate that I was quoted was way over-priced. This is a pattern I have seen with Custom Electrical, they have a hard time understanding the scope of work from initial description of work (may be it is due to my communication skills). Staff showed up and looked at the job. They quoted a price and said they could start right away. The price was within a couple of hundred dollars of a previous quote received over a year ago. So, I said yes. They went off to get the appropriate supplies. It took then less than an hour to install a dedicated outlet. The indoor area was cleaned nicely. I had a Tesla EV charger installed and the entire process was great! I requested a quote on Yelp and got a response quickly, from there the scheduling and estimates were very quick and efficient. On the day of the install they called and texted me ahead of time, and there was also a live tracker to see where the electrician was. Don installed the charger for me. The team here did everything right. I sent a request online and was pretty detailed in what I was looking for. It was clear that they read what I wrote when they promptly called back so the quote I got was accurate. The only difference between the final bill and my quote was that my guestimate for how much wire was needed was off by 50 ft. I measured in my head, they measured with a laser. The guys took care to make sure everything looked neat and professional. This was a hot tub install, they came prepared, having read the instructions for my specific model, so setup went smoothly. I had to replace and relocated my shutoff switch, and they even cleaned up the old one, capping it off for me with a blank plate, which they didn't have to do. My brand new Amazon 1500 Watt heater kept tripping my 15 Amp garage GFCI circuit, so I realized that I needed a new 20 amp circuit breaker, 12 gauge line and outlet, Doh!! I'm familiar with electrical, but didn't want to deal with the required permit. So I removed the drywall, checked reviews and sent out a Yelp request. Custom Electrical Services responded extremely quickly, (less than 2 hours) with a reasonable quote. Then they scheduled me for the next day. Wow! While they were working at my home, I asked them about a garage outlet that I had attempted to install a year earlier, but ran into difficulties. It was sitting there as an unfinished project. They were able to install the new 20 amp circuit breaker, run a new 12 gauge line, an outlet AND a separate new 15 amp for my unfinished project. They didn't have that other breaker with them so they had to return early the next day. This worked out as they were able to obtain the state required electrical permit and the inspection was performed virtually as soon as the work was as completed. The second day with the inspection only took 20 min! They came out when they said they would, did a great job, cleaned up the worksite, and got through the inspection. We called for help when half our house lost power. A nice lady named Maria suggested we call the power company because someone from our area had just called with the same issue. If she is any representation of the company's integrity, we will definitely use this company for any future electrical needs. Note* It is possible to lose power in only half of your house. It's called a partial outage. Update: So PSE came to our house and we actually had an internal issue. Again we called CES and we were lucky to get Billy sent to us on his way home from work. He was very professional and found the problem right away. He also taught us how to check for future reoccurrence of the issue. We hired Custom Electrical Services to install some recessed lighting in our home. The good: called within 1 business day to give quote over the phone, they stick to the quote even if it takes longer than expected, on the day of installation they arrived on time, pricing seemed competitive with our other quote we received. The not so good: with out telling us they left two big black garbage bags sitting outside. These won't fit in our garbage can so looks like we'll be making a trip to the dump. My wife was at home during the installation and she said that some of the conversations they had were inappropriate being that they knew she was sitting right there. Overall the work was done well, but just not as professional as what we expected. We will be going with another company next time. read more

I had a very old circuit board with loose breakers that needed to be replaced. Custom Electrical Services was extremely professional and communicative and came out very soon after to replace the breakers. My technician, Chad, was on time and communicated well on the status of his work. After the breakers were replaced, I noticed that a section of outlets in my house weren't working. Chad came back out right away to look into the issue. Even though it wasn't caused by the breaker replacements, Chad spent time fixing the issue for me. I had them upgrade my panel to be larger ( also the cabling is much cleaner behind the panel than the spaghetti mess it was before, true professionals for sure ), install a car charger, and repair the hot tub electric work, and they did great! I made a call to Custom Electrical Services (CES) to troubleshoot an issue with power going out to 2/3 rooms on a single circuit. James and Alex came out to take a look. After about 10 minutes, James figured out that there was probably arcing going on from a particular outlet due to the previous contractors not properly connecting it using the push-in connection. After rewiring the outlets in the circuit using the screw connection, everything was back up and running. I'm thrilled with the work CES did, and give a shout-out to electricians like James who take the time to educate their customers and answer any of their questions. That truly is customer service.
