My father had received a quote for replacing a bay window from another company in town that he had hired before. That other company looked to take advantage of that and quoted my father a price of $10,000 to replace it. I got involved and looked for other options and was truly fortunate to find J&D Windows and Doors. First off, the price was a FRACTION of what the first company quoted, but more than that David really took in a genuine interest in discussing all the options with my father so that my father was comfortable knowing he was getting exactly what he wanted. The other company took a more cookie cutter approach and was more interested in seeing dollar signs than customer satisfaction.. Due to Covid, supply was interrupted so the new window couldn't be installed when initially scheduled. That had nothing to do with J&D but David still gave my father a discount due to the inconvenience. Completely unnecessary but most appreciated and just a classy move on his part. All told, the work to take out the old bay and put in the new took little more than a morning with a little finishing to be done the next day. I ended up filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and after 7 months they offered me a 10% discount for my "inconvenience", but I had to sign a non-disparagement contract first. Declined to give up my right to free speech, paid full contracted price, and posting my terrible experience with Champion of Albany online to inform other possible consumers.

The installation was so bad, they almost had to lift the roof and reset the walls and start over. The issues were no caulk under walls, no weep holes drilled causing water to back up inside, handles on the windows not installed correctly & sliding glass door not adjusted properly. Thankfully, these installers were all fired. Champion had to call in a contractor from out of state to fix all the issues. Now, I see my rain gutter is pitched the wrong way and when it rains hard (which has been lately), the water floods the glass door. Good luck trying to get someone to come fix your issue. Made a service call and the techs who showed up were not prepared to work on a 2nd story rain gutter. Made 3 more calls to get the techs back but the service manager has not responded to my calls or email. I'll give this company 1 star because the room actually looks nice. All I can say is beware. Beware of this company. We had our roof replaced in April 2021 by Suburban. At the beginning of…read moreFebruary 2022, we had a leak inside our house on 2 of our ceilings. After examining our crawl-space attic, we found we had water dripping in, icicles formed, crystallization, and black mold. We immediately called Suburban. The next morning 2 workers arrived and assessed the damage, never once acknowledging the mold. It was determined they would come back in 2 days (Monday) to replace the ridge vents. The owner sent a contractor on Monday to also assess the damage inside of our house but nothing could be done at this time until it was determined that the roof was no longer leaking. 6 days after this issue started, I reached out to the owner again only to receive a letter stating this was an act of mother nature and there was nothing more Suburban would do for us. Not once did the owner take the time to pick up the phone and speak with me -- how unprofessional! We live in Upstate NY, we are supposed to get ice and snow but we are not supposed to have inferior work performed when we hire a contractor. This has caused quite a problem in our house.
