Our family room sofa, although about ten years old (and was expensive when we bought it), is in great shape and has removable covers for the seat cushions. Seat cushions wear out over time, especially if you sit on them (go figure). Anyway, after looking around for someone who could make new cushion inserts for this sofa, I finally decided to try Cushion World (despite the lackluster reviews). I'm glad I did. They did a nice job. The type of cushion insert that I chose was definitely not cheap, but it mirrored the original type of cushion that came with the sofa when it was new. They have quite a few options of cushion material and firmness, so pricing will vary. Anyway, this was about a year ago that I had these cushions made. Overall, the process was less painless than I expected. The last time I had cushions made at another shop in another state, I had to leave my cushions and covers there for a couple of weeks until they could make mine. Needless to say that it's rather inconvenient not to have seat cushions on your sofa for that long. What happened with Cushion World was that I went to their shop one day mid-week and right after they opened (I highly recommend this) and brought my seat cushions with me. They measured the existing cushions while I was there, I chose the type of new cushion material and I went back home with my old cushions. They had to order some material for the cushion type I chose. When that came in (took about two weeks), they called me. I set up a day to bring in my old cushions (and covers) and I left them there for a few hours while they made the cushions that day. And then I went back and picked up the new cushions (with my old fabric covers on them) that same day. My sofa was only without their seat cushions for several hours, not the weeks like at the other business. As an upholstery business, they also have fabric if you need that. I don't know what kind of fabric my cushion covers came with when we bought the sofa, but it has held up remarkably well over the years and hasn't faded. As such, I can't attest to the fabric part of their business, but they do a nice job with the cushion part. I had no issues with their customer service while I was there in person, but it did seem to me that they may not be the most organized when it comes to their paperwork. But overall, I had a very positive experience and I would use them again. read more

I paid it and have since been hounding them for my cushions. This is the 2nd time I have had sofa cushions re-stuffed at Cushion World and yet again, I am 100% pleased with the results. We have a 9 year old sofa from Macy's that has held up quite well to a family of 5 - the upholstery and frame are great but the foam had gotten pretty soft. It seemed wasteful to buy a new sofa, so I headed to Cushion World. The cushions look and feel perfect and I will likely get another 8-9 years out of this sofa. Absolutely ridiculous! So frustrated with. Cushion World. We have a nice, high quality Arhaus couch, but our family has been rough with it over the past several years. They no longer make this exact model. So my husband found a company overseas that bought the pattern for the slip-covers and could make a new set. It was not cheap, but we wanted to keep the couch for sentimental value. Fast forward to us receiving the covers. My husband sent an email to Arhaus to ask if they could make new cushions. We finally got a quote from them for just over $800. Hubby felt like we could get a better price. He emailed Cushion World to get a quote. We were told we couldn't get an estimate without sending them the covers. The covers were practically 30% of the cost of buying a new Arhaus couch, so I was nervous putting that much value in someone else's mailbox. When they received the covers they worked up a quote with 3 different prices for 3 different quality of cushions. Every quote, from the basic cushions to the very nice ones were all much more expensive than the quote we got from Arhaus. How is that even possible? To get the same quality (hopefully), we'd have to pay literally 2x as much. But here's the kicker. My husband asked Cushion World to send us back the covers and offered the shipping cost plus extra for their time and effort to do the estimate. This was WEEKS AGO! Every time he calls them, it's another excuse. The last excuse this past Monday (it's now Friday) was the shipping label was created, but they were waiting for UPS or FedEx to come pick up the package. They haven't even charged us for the shipping. I have a feeling the covers are lost and now we are out of a big chunk of money. I DO NOT recommend doing business with Cushion World. Being new to Denver, I have relied on reviews to decide whether to engage with a local business. I wondered about leaving this but I feel the need to let others know. I have had my furniture reupholstered before. Sadly, the recent one-star reviews reflect what has just happened to me. I first worked with Mike and Shanti in May. They are nice and knowledgeable. In early June I put a 50% deposit on a big job--five pieces and a bench cushion. They told me it would take 14 weeks. Then I heard nothing from CushionWorld. 18 weeks in, I decided to stop in with my mom who was in town. I wanted to show her the fabrics IRL and also wanted to check in since I had gotten no communications from them since they charged my card. Mike told me they were delayed. Duh. We then also discovered that they had put down the wrong color for the fabric for two of the chairs. Mike corrected that and was apologetic, but at that point I was becoming uneasy. Weeks 20-25 go by. Nothing. I emailed and finally got Mike to respond saying they would come pick up the furniture for recovering the week before thanksgiving. He previously hadn't told me that I would have to pay a separate vendor to for the pickup--this was just another irritant at that point in a very delayed job that at that point I obviously wanted finished. Week 28: I had to email again. Mike finally called me to say that they had gotten the wrong fabric for the chairs--uh, something we had already worked out in September when I proactively went in to have a conversation? He said this correct color now was delayed by 16 more weeks from the supplier. It was at this point that my experience became so bad I decided to leave this review. First, The full completion of my job at this point was going to be 44 weeks-- almost one year!-- because of the delay of the chair fabric, which we had identified in week 18. Second, and this is what broke me: They charged my card, without my consent and even without even a head's up, on the three pieces that had been "done." They ALSO charged me for throw pillows I didn't order. I took off work to go in to talk to Mike because at this point I wasn't sure what was going on. TBH I was worried about all kinds of bad outcomes. I obviously needed to see what HAD been done. I was shocked with what I found. They had charged me for work that ALSO wasn't even finished. Some piping hadn't been fully adhered and threads were hanging off the piece. In summary: Cushionworld charged me for work they hadn't even finished after a 14-week delay and after utterly botching fabric ordering for 2/5 of the job, which then made the delay seven months, all the while not picking up the phone or emailing to tell me anything about the details of this debacle. I went with CushionWorld to begin with because I had heard they are the best in Denver. They obviously are not. This is a sad case of a previously good business now in distress. The idea they charged me a balance without my consent on a partially finished job when I signed nothing saying I permitted that AND when what was allegedly done WAS NOT done--this is a business that needs money more than it needs happy customers. He was courteous, quick to find a resolution and agreed to do this at no charge. I was Elated!!! Ordered cushion refills for our sectional. 7 cushions in total. My wife had to email them a few times to find out when our cushions would be delivered. Delivery of the cushions was 2 weeks later than what was told to us. We only opened one of the vacuum sealed packages to see the quality. Thank goodness we didn't open the other 6. The quality of the cushions was awful. It looked like someone slapped them together at the last minute. The way they have you measure the cushions is very misleading. They want you to measure the cushions when they are in the casings. We live far away so we measured according to their online instructions and what we received from them was not what we ordered. The overall thickness of their cushions was almost 2" less overall. Their cushions fit horribly in our casings. They were also extremely uncomfortable. You could tell you were sitting on a block of foam. Zero support. The proper way to measure the foam would have been to measure it directly instead of measuring the boxing on the casing seam to seam. My wife told them the issue and sent them many pictures proving that their cushions were nowhere close to being thick enough to fill out our casings. They responded first by telling us they would send more Dacron fill to us and for us to wrap each cushion in it. My wife said that was not an appropriate solution since the issue was with the foam thickness. The next response she received was that they would send more foam and fill so that we could put the cushions together ourselves. We laughed when we read that response. We have no idea how to assemble foam cushions and we don't have the tools or the time to do so. We paid them to do that! I would like to point out that when I called them to request a refund, since we did not receive what we paid for, they accused me of being a thief and being hysterical when I said I wanted a refund. They accused me of scamming them and verbally assaulting them. That never happened. I was calm in the beginning but after being told over and over again that they will not refund us I was firm in stating that we would be disputing the charge. Then they accused me of credit card fraud. I told them that we are more than happy to send their material back to them if they would send us return labels. They hung up on me as well. They claim they don't accept returns or refunds but their policy clearly states that they do if there are any inconsistencies or discrepancies and it would have to be approved by a manager. In our situation there was, since the thickness of the cushions was not correct, but they still refused to refund us. The cushions they sent us were almost 2" thinner than our original cushions. What we received from them was WORSE than what we currently have. We also noticed that one of the boxes they sent us had someone else's name and address written on the box. We saw through the plastic wrap that the cushion in that box was made with different foam and was a different firmness than the other cushions leading us to believe that the cushion was meant for someone else. When we told them this they never even addressed it. We contacted the credit card company to dispute the charge when we realized they would not refund us. We forwarded the credit card company all the necessary pictures and emails with the measurements showing that they did not deliver what we ordered. DO NOT do business with this company. I wish we had seen the other reviews of this company on Yelp and Google before deciding to do business with them. They are very rude and unprofessional and they accuse you of scamming them and ripping them off, when it is them doing the scamming. They refuse to work with you to come up with a reasonably acceptable solution. If the cushions they send you don't fit properly, they want YOU to do the work for them by stuffing them yourself. We did not pay premium prices for lackluster quality and a DIY solution. Poor customer service, poor quality cushions. read more

We had a tight budget and using remnants they had on hand and some great matching/color advice from Mike we were able to get a great product with the right choice for filling. Custom cushions do take time, and delivery was a bit longer than promised, but we did not have a hard deadline so it all worked out. read more

This company screwed up from the beginning. I'll never blow off my intuition again. First email to them - where's the invoice you promised? That I received. They charged us the full amount of the upholstery before delivery, which turned out to be 15 weeks! I emailed this company three times to find out status and finally got a reply, only after I threatened them I was going to come in in person did they reply "We're working on it "I waited another month and then started asking again for status. It is important to note that when you call their phone number they don't pick up. They have a recording that says email us we'll get back to you immediately, which does not happen. After 15 weeks of waiting for specific status on our project, my husband and I went into the shop and confronted the owner. He said the material was in. Why weren't we notified? We made them put in writing that if we brought the seat covers in on Tuesday they would be finished on Saturday. They met that deadline but I believe only because we required it in writing. Also, I find it interesting that the upholsterer covered the bottom of the seat covers so you could not see the screw holes. In addition we had marked the chairs one through six to correspond to the seats because they are old and could very well only fit with the cushion that was originally on there. In addition to all the delays, personnel at the company are rude and don't believe in customer service. In fact, when we came in to confront the owner, there was an old man in an office, and he just sat there, and gave us a dirty look we asked if someone was coming and he said oh I'll call them. In Hirt, do not do business with these clowns. They'll tell you they've been in business for 50 years, but they must have money laundering on the side or something to stay in business that long I have never met such poor customer service. read more

Not happy at all with Cushion World. Went in to get two custom cushions made. They wanted over 700$ dollars for remnant fabric. Then when I asked for it to be done within four weeks, they said they couldn't do it any faster than six weeks, but if I'd pay an additional 500$ dollar upcharge, they could get it done in three. I found Men Tang Furniture and am glad I went with them. The job was 300$ with a better fabric, and done in less than a week and the quality is top-notch. read more

I let them make money on the fabric when as a designer I could have purchased wholesale. After showing up twice to hound them about completing cushions for Easter ( yes Easter! ) I still did not receive them until April 5th. The pattern for the couch cushions did not come close to lining up. Also mentioning that the seat cushions were not the same ones I dropped off, they were 3 corner cushions with one rounded edge. So, after paying over $5000.00 for the 5 cushion sets I now have to take them to a professional upholstery shop and pay out of pocket to have corrected for my client. Please note that when I tried calling and could not speak to anyone about this I received a text saying those were the cushions that I dropped off. Not happy with customer service. They put new foam in the mattress pads of my camper van. After I did a trip, the pads were too soft. I called the store and they said bring them back in. I figured they would replace them. An elderly man showed me some foam and said that I was a rare customer because I wasn't happy with the density of the foam, according to him, this had never happened in the 50 years he'd worked there. I waited 25 minutes for two others workers to finish with other customers, then a guy took some measurements and quoted me what I had originally paid to replace the foam. I was willing to overlook the hour wait to be helped based on the raving reviews. I was surprised when prepayment was required and a 4 week waiting period to have my 5 sofa cushions replaced. I arrived on on June 3,2021 before 11 AM as instructed. The next day I returned to pick up my cushion. While loading them into my car, I realized the inner slip covers were not there. I immediately returned to the store to be ignored for over 20 minutes. I ask about my interior slipcovers and was told they did not meet the stores standards. Stores standards? Store standard involved gluing a piece of batting to a foam square and stuffing it into the outer slipcover. I requested the return of my property and told they were thrown away. I do no dispute the cushions were replaced. The minimal effort was exerted to accomplish the job. My expectation was they would be returned to me as they were dropped off with new interior cushions. If this is not the business's standard then I should have been notified. Save your money, buy foam and a glue gun. read more

We used Cushion World to replace 14 outdoor furniture cushions. The quality of the the new cushions is incredible - so much nicer than anything that comes with outdoor patio furniture. The stitching and attention to detail with seams and zippers is very impressive. The service is average and it took 7 weeks to complete the order, but the finished product was worth the wait. This was the worst commercial experience I've every had. We took a child's bench in to be recovered. The price was very high to begin with and the 40 day lead time seemed excessive but we went with it. They called towards the end of that time and said it would be another month. The job was more then the value of the bench so we decided to scrap the project and do it ourselves. My wife went in to the store to collect the bench and Mike wouldn't let her have it stating that we were breaking the contract. She was very rattled from his mansplaining and holding the bench hostage. I called and explained we didn't want to do business with him, that he could charge us full price if he wanted but just give the bench back and I would give an appropriate review. He said my wife was lying, was hostile and escalated the situation to an uncomfortable level on the phone and when I showed up to get the bench. read more

Good point here in the other reviews, there are lots of fabric to select from. Challenging items: (1) Not all the staff are very friendly, some our and most are not. (2) I think the store means well, but they sure missed the promised date for our project. (3) I've used other upholsters in Denver before, and out of four companies, this is the only one to miss deadlines. (4) Adding to our challenge, they made a major error, which seems will now take perhaps as long a month to fix. (5) For comparison, none of the other companies required FULL payment up front, the others only asked for the cost of the materials. Not sure it makes sense to prepay for all the labor.
