My car was not in bad shape but the dirt roads of Yosemite thrashed my new tires and just putting that much distance overall, my car needed some TLC. He answered my questions about the services he provides & offered what I thought was a great price- seeing as how there is not many places in the area that do hand car washes. He also gave great life advice and made us feel very welcome in Santa Cruz! I'm not sure if I will be heading back up for a road trip anytime soon but I ABSOLUTELY WILL be making a stop here again if I do! The touchscreen still had fingerprints, the interior windshield had noticeable streaks in the sunlight, and a few areas could have used another pass. My Tesla was already well maintained, so I was hoping the extra time would go toward making it feel truly spotless. When I am traveling, my preference is always to stop at a gas station that offers something more than pumping and go. I prefer having a convenience store attached to the gas station in case I'm looking for something to drink, some gum or perhaps even a quick snack. Cleanliness is always a huge plus. This particular Valero's has a convenience store, and unhappy people that work there. We stopped to get gas, and walked inside to pay and grab a quick drink. The cashier was extremely unpleasant, and it was very clear not only was unhappy to be there, but he was clearly inconvenienced by us making a purchase. After we paid, we went out to pump the gas and the pump was not even ready for us to use. We had to walk back inside, and ask for him to turn the pump on. Literally standing there waiting for what felt like eternity, but was probably about two minutes or so until he decided to turn the pump on. No one else was there, so it should not of been an issue. The station itself is pretty basic, and snacks were at a minimum. The station was also fairly clean, as far as gas stations go. My issue at the station, was the attitude that the attendant had, and why it seems to go unnoticed. Clearly, he has worked there for a while and it doesn't seem to be an issue for management. I was somewhat satisfied with the car wash. However, my car wasn't as clean as I would've liked it to have been. The good thing was that my car didn't get scratched by brushes. I believe that they need to make the car wash go longer. I also went to this particular station because I needed to use the restroom. I went into the store, and the friendly cashier gave me the key to the outside bathroom. I walked out to the bathroom, and when I grabbed the door knob, the door opened without using the key. I was feeling a little anxious about someone opening the door while I was using the toilet, but that didn't happen. The person before me probably didn't close the door completely when they left the toilet. The convenience store was huge with lots of items to buy. Outside, there is air for your tires, and you can vacuum your car for a handful of quarters. I was impressed that they had buckets with water and windshield squeegees--I haven't seen very many squeegees at gas stations lately.
