    Enchilada de Pollo
    Maritza G.

There needs to be an improvement in EVERYTHING , the ladies taking my order were extremely rude and kept rolling their eyes at me , very unfriendly and inhospitable, . The enchilada I ordered was TERRIBLE, extremely salty , the chicken was TERRIBLE, tasted old and BITTER???!! and reheated , took 30 mins for the worst enchilada I've ever put in my mouth . And When I called to complain to ask for my money back the worker kept trying to argue with me and was trying to say I didn't understand what the difference between and enchilada and a quesadilla is ? When I told her the food tasted terrible and I told her to speak to the manager and she refused and lied to me and said that her manager wasn't there and hung up on me very rudely , I then had my friend call back and ask for the manager and she told us we could come back and return the food , when I had already thrown it out . Terrible. 0/10 customer service , 0/10 food never come to this place it is terrible . Terrible people with overcharged prices , and takes a long time for the food to arrive just for it to be below address, honestly terrible . 0/10 never going here again and telling everyone to avoid this place . Also extremely rude to alternative people ( I have piercings and colored hair ) very rude and mean people as well :( please save your money and don't support this place , overpriced . Terrible . Food doesn't even belong in ur mouth only the trash.

Omg I haven't had really good El Salvadorian food since living in DC. My boyfriend at the time (still a friend in my heart) got us El Salvadorian food and I also have El Salvadorian family so finding that you are here WOW thank you my loves. And you even had cookies. If you want food from the heart this is where you go...thank you for being open late !

Cuscatlan Restaurant is the southern anchor of a "not doing very well" older, somewhat in need of repair (ok, "decaying") strip mall. One reviewer noted that it is in a working class neighborhood, but from the looks of the nearby vagrants, the workers of the working class must be unemployed workers. However, his review does correctly point out that such adds to the "charm" of the place, which indeed it does, and much to my liking. The restaurant itself is clean, neatly arranged, but could certainly use some fresh paint as well as a little sprucing up. Besides sit down with wait staff service, it is also and maybe more primarily a take out restaurant, particularly during the lunch hours. The menu is small and though a Salvadorian restaurant, you have your choice of having many of the menu items prepared in Salvadorian or Mexican style. What counts of course is the flavor of the food and after having had their shrimp in red sauce (read tomato based), Salvadorian style, I found the flavors to be delicious as well as nicely pronounced. Having that along with a generous and properly prepared portion of plantains and accompany salad, bread plus a imported beer all for $17.77 I found it to be most enjoyable. Though the restaurant and location are on the scruffy side, the food is good, the service polite, helpful and all at a decent for value price.

The staff is not super welcoming but they are polite. The place itself is not that attractive and it all feels old but the food is amazing! We tried a couple of things and they were all so good. The food is pretty authentic, portions are large and prices ok.

Eating here was amazing. The food is warm delicious hot and fantastic and it is made to order. All the food are generous amazingly delicious high portions as well as things that I have to admit we're even more than I expected so I definitely recommend you come and eat at this place if you want a taste of local real local food for you to be able to have an authentic taste

Delicious tamales de elote-Made out of corn and wrapped in a corn husk and comes with a side of crema. Absolutely authentic and filling.

Update : We came for lunch. Had the best Mariscada con crema in town by far! It is a seafood soup with mussels, clams, crab, fish and chopped veggies and finished off with a touch of Salvadorean crema. They serve it with a side of rice and tortillas! If you come here you MUST try the Mariscada and a little "hint" the large portion serves two people. THIS evening I had my husband pick up three of these tamales de elote- they are delicious. Made out of corn and wrapped in a corn husk and comes with a side of crema. Absolutely authentic and filling. This is a local restaurant in our area. We have came here for over 10 years and the food only gets better and better. The portions are just right and their specials are great for a family. We have pretty much tried everything on the menu. All of the drinks. Their horchata and jugo de tamarindo are truly authentic as well as everything else. Go in and just. Goose from the menu and you will be pleased with all that you get. *thumbs up*

Was staying at FLL beach and dying for authentic Salvadoran breakfast. Had to drive 20 mins but it was worth it. Excellent egg platters and enchiladas- both reasonable portion size (eg not for sharing)- delicious coffee and friendly service.

La Casita Salvadoreña, ubicada en Commercial Boulevard, es el clásico hole in the wall que parece discreto por fuera, pero por dentro te da una bofetada de sabor (con cariño ). Las porciones son absurdamente buenas. No sales lleno... sales derrotado. Si no has ido, ve. Si ya fuiste, sabes que digo la verdad. Y si sales con hambre... hiciste algo mal.

We were trying to find a restaurant on the Dine Out Lauderdale list when we came across this El Salvadoran hidden gem! The only ways to truly know where is it located is to know the area, or happen to see the tall Jenaritos sign by the sidewalk. We walked right past it. Even when we returned, we weren't certain that was it because it, as well as the other shared businesses next to it were labeled. The true reveal was the sign. The sign was the sign! Be prepared to be able to speak a minimum of Spanish when ordering. We were greeted warmly, and started our order. If you don't use it, you lose it. Our Spanish was good enough to complete the order. We apologized for it afterward, but were assured it was good. There is nothing fancy going on inside. Order and pickup at the counter. A large menu is posted in plain view behind it. There is enough seating for a few groups of people. And Latin food items available for purchase just like at a bodega. If you order pupusas, which we did, we must inform you that you NEVER eat a pupusa with a utensil! You must ALWAYS eat a pupusa by hand. It is an insult bordering on blasphemy to natives, if you eat one using a fork. https://www.instagram.com/panchitaspupuseria/reel/C4T54qevpEb/ https://www.instagram.com/panchitaspupuseria/p/C3-4tdTOE0K/ We used our hands, but still did it wrong. Those IG posts show how do it correctly. Our order didn't take long, and we were ecstatic with the taste! La Molienda was our go to for pupusas until it closed after 2020. Jenaritos not only replaced it in our hearts, but also in our stomachs! It was the first time we were able to eat pupusa with curtido. Usually, the curtido is overly crisp or too pickled. Jenaritos make curtido just right! Going back to the start, YELP really should consider that category. Small businesses make up over 80 percent of businesses in the country. And small, family-owned restaurant that occupy small or obscure spaces are often among the best. There are hits as well as misses. It's the hits we want to know about! Jenaritos is our new go to for El Salvadoran fare. Hope it will be yours too!

As a salvadoreña I'm always looking for places with authentic salvadorean food, we noticed a lot of people coming in and out of this place and figured it was a good spot to try. They're usually sold only in one area of the country itself in El Salvador so I was surprised to find them here! What a treat! Absolutely delicious! I also tried their regular corn based pupusas and were excellent as well. This is no fancy place, but its authenticity makes it charming and welcoming. Being at Jenaritos brings me back to my time growing up in El Salvador and visiting "Pupuserias." I would totally recommend this place and will be coming back over and over again.

It was ground lamb with onion, mint, and cilantro. I got their grilled shrimp. It also had shredded cabbage, , guacamole, and cilantro. I chose to have the chipotle aioli on the side. I really liked my taco. To share, we went with the birria. This was very tender shredded beef, cheese, onion, and cilantro. It was a bit messy and drippy, but very good. I never even needed to dip it in the side "sauce" that it came with. The side was esquite salad. A pasta salad with corn and other veggies like small pieces of green and red peppers. There was more pasta than anything else. This was just okay. They had a number of Mexican sodas to drinks in various flavors, agua fresca, and horchata. They had a bar there also on the side of the room with "adult" beverages, but it didn't open until the evening. My favorite of the things we had? My shrimp taco. Prices were fairly reasonable. In fact, I'd never had a pupusa when some time back I read another review from Melodie and decided to try them. We found a Pompano Beach restaurant near our other residence that we frequent with Salvadorean food and have now visited often. When we came in, I guess they could tell we were "gringos", so they switched servers to one with better English. But we usually can get by with our school Spanish okay. Most people dining here were Spanish speaking, but you should be comfortable if you don't know the language. My husband decided to have a pupusa with beef and cheese along with a salad. The salad came out first. It was a plate of lettuce with tomatoes and cucumbers and some ranch dressing. His pupusa came with coleslaw. And they put a container of thin red sauce on the table for us to share. He said he thought the pupusa was good. He also got a passion fruit drink, medium size, to have with his meal. I had to try the "squash flower" one (per Melodie's review) so I ordered the loroco pupusa. I looked this up to see what these flower buds looked like. As mentioned online, this unique green vegetable was a bit crunchy and reminded me of a broccoli stalk or asparagus spear. But it is unique to El Salvador and used in Salvadorean cooking in many different ways. There was more cheese than loroco in the pupusa. It was fine. I'm glad I tried it. But I also ordered a "mixed" pupusa (revueltas) of pork, beans, and cheese and this one was the better tasting of the two, I thought. Of course, I put the slaw on top of the pupusa and sauce on top of that (as I'd learned from Melodie) and that really makes the whole experience in one delicious bite. I didn't realize how large the pupusas would be, so I'd also ordered a coctail de camarones. Not to be confused with an American shrimp cocktail, I'd had these when they've been made like shrimp ceviche or like the one I had here. The cooked shrimp was mixed in a remoulade dressing (mayo based) and topped with pico de gallo and avocado pieces. It was very good. It was served in a sundae glass. And came with a package of crackers, as well. Now that we've come here to try their pupusas, I'd also like to try one of their signature soups and other meal specials. Prices are quite reasonable. Please note: This isn't fast food as everything is cooked to order, so just be prepared if you're really hungry for a short wait.
