At the time of sale, there was no disclosure of this issue. When I called the service center to schedule an inspection a fix it.I was never told that I would have to pay an inspection fee. After driving nearly two hours with my two young children and taking time off work, I was told on arrival that I must pay and might not be reimbursed. When I tried to seek help from the general manager, he coldly told me I was "not qualified" to speak with him. The subordinate manager(sales manager )refused to even sit down and insisted I stand at the front desk to talk. Their rude and dismissive attitude was shocking. They showed one face when selling the car, but the moment a problem came up, they revealed another -- cold, unhelpful, and disrespectful. We are easygoing customers who only wanted the leak to be fixed, yet we were treated with indifference. Very disappointing experience. Be very cautious if you choose to buy a car here.

My suggestion is to avoid them. I can't figure out if they are incompetent or dishonest but either…read moreway they don't deserve the label "dealer." Dealers are supposed to be specialists. They are supposed to add value to the transaction (which justifies the higher prices and their own profits). Their involvement is supposed to bring security and accountability to the purchasing process. That is, if they are competent and honest. Not what I found here. Here are the specifics: Bought a 2001 dodge truck with a lot of body rust for 2,600. Wasn't told that the extent of the rust made the car un-inspectable without a fair amount of body work. The price should have reflected this. On the drive home the rear differential went, potentially a thousand dollar repair bill. I don't know that a mechanic's inspection would always be able to identify a problematic differential (say by the presence of metal in the fluid) but no mechanic ever went through this vehicle in the first place or made any effort to come up with an accurate figure for the true value of it. I know that because there was hardly any coolant in the radiator by the time I got home. In other words there was a well-advanced external coolant leak that either no one noticed or bothered to tell me about (in the heater core it turns out so it was not immediately apparent, another high labor repair bill nonetheless). Incompetence or dishonesty? My impression is that these guys don't bother too much with the cost of mechanics when they are prepping vehicles for resale. Nor are they all that good at buying quality used vehicles that can justifiably be sold at the prices they charge. I did not petition them for any money back because I take fault in signing the contract. But when I told them that it was obvious I over-paid, that no mechanic ever even glanced at the truck and that I had to send the truck to auction and get only 575 dollars for it, I received a well rehearsed spiel from a guy I took to be a manager that he has cars he's bought blow up on him all the time and has to eat those costs as a matter of daily business (does this argue for competence?). "Poop happens" he literally said to me. Except, if you think about it for a second, it is not my job to buy and sell vehicles. It's his. If he were to perform his job as a true specialist then the risk of buying would be less for me. But as far as I can tell all he does is buy apparently decent vehicles on the cheap at auctions and offer book value prices without making any effort to determine the mechanical state of the vehicle, much less it's fair market value. These guys made a healthy profit off of me but took on none of the risk of their line of business that would have justified it. They hide behind the "as is" clause and they pretend to know what they are doing. No different than the business ethos of a securities trader in my book--buy low sell high no matter what your buying--let the suckers suss out value. Buyer's risk should not increase when dealing with a specialist but that is what you'll get here.

If I could mark this a ZERO stars I would. See my first review after we bought the car: Just wanted…read moreto WARN people we bought a car in October. I love the car but not all the problems we have had no willingness for anything to be done about it. The car did not get done over as promised. We were promised a tune-up before we took ownership and since we have had to do a tune-up already that obviously was a LIE. The car had many air fresheners in and come to find out there is mold growing under the carpets in the back because the sunroof drains are clogged and have been leaking for probably a year. Then there was the lovely salesperson who did nothing but LIE to us. We told him what we could afford he told us what payment would be guaranteed and we are paying $ 300.00 more than we discussed. We had to go back 3 times to complete the paperwork. he let us take the car without the paperwork signed as he didn't even know how to work the computer he asked me to help him and I don't work there. he also added a $4000.00 warranty that was never discussed with us and is useless. When I emailed him about all this he did not acknowledge anything I just asked me the third time we had to go in to get the paperwork signed he asked me if I was still mad. I guess that is what you get when you hire a drunk who passes out on the couch in the showroom. I have reached out a few more times to Liberty and obviously, they don't care about their customers or repeat business. I had heard very good things about Liberty but that was not our experience. To present time: 03/06/2024: Our water pump went and for people that do not know it is in the middle of the engine of a 2017 Ford Explorer. That useless warranty that Liberty sold us with the lies they tell you that the bank requires it was just that useless and the bank does not require it as we checked. It is a drivetrain warranty so our water pump that is in the middle of the engine should have been covered but guess what it was not. Conveniently everything else in the motor was named but that. So pretty sure Liberty gets a kickback for lying and selling these to customers and when it can be used for repairs the item that needs to be covered just falls off mysteriously and is not covered. The whole thing is a SCAM. My car was diagnosed by my trusted mechanic but due to the cost, we were trying to use the warranty that no one accepts it had to go into Liberty to have it looked at. We were quoted about $4000 to have it fixed at a dealership. If you want your car diagnosed correctly or fixed correctly THIS is not the place. Chris Murray has to be one of the most incompetent mechanics around not to mention super rude. He insisted my mechanic who is one of the best in Rutland was wrong and it was my freeze plug. I had to have my mechanic call him to tell him he was absolutely incorrect. He still said it was my freeze plug which at that point I ended up calling him an idiot and hung up on him as there was not enough time in the day to deal with that type of stupidity. So needless to say the warranty covered nothing and we paid out of pocket for our trusted mechanic who was able to fix it for half the price and fixed it correctly. If you are going to have a head mechanic please make sure he knows what he is doing and did not get his auto experience out of a cracker jack box. As for management, they are just as useless. All the issues we had with this purchase they have never reached out to try and fix anything except a response to my Google review. I did reach out when we were having all our issues in the beginning just with no response. People are going to use who they want I understand that. Just hoping my review can save someone the headache that we have been subjected to by Liberty Auto
