Grateful Plumber

Needed water heater replaced. They were able to come the next day, took the time to not only do the…read morejob, but to make sure that any previous problems were fixed. They noticed issues with placement and exhaust, and they corrected these and let me know about their fixes to prevent future problems. Very kind people. Water is now easier to control the temperature of, and I have the peace of mind that the water is now clean and that I shouldn't have to worry about the water heater for quite some time! Pricing is what it is, not their fault everything is as expensive as it is right now.

I contacted Grateful Plumber through Yelp's project feature. I noted that they were a plumber that…read morequalified for Yelp's guarantee program, a neat program that I've fortunately never had to use. I did my initial contact outside of business hours. Early the next morning, I had a message from Adam B. Once I got to work, I returned the call and quickly described my issue and what I believed it to be. The first available appointment wasn't until Monday (it wasn't urgent, so I wasn't worried about going the weekend). I got my timeframe. I had a couple other appointments that day, so I ended up taking the day off so I could easily be available. I immediately liked that they told me who would be arriving - AND that was who arrived. I also liked that they use a customer portal that allows you to have some security if you pay online or to review your records. Christian arrived (there was one other person with him). It took him a couple minutes to diagnose the issue he believed it to be, and it took him not a lot longer to determine that diagnosis correct. He quoted the price, I agreed, and he got to work. After finishing the work, he determined the original issue I'd believed it to be wasn't quite needing to be addressed (but will be in the near future). We discussed options, including ways I could save a bit. Christian was personable and explained things in a way I could understand. The issue was likely caused by me, but he managed to avoid using the word "idiot" at any point. The repair was done in a timely manner. The price ended up being a bit lower than quoted. I appreciated his honesty as he very easily could have pointed me toward a repair not needing done yet. It also became obvious the last person I'd used had really only done half the job. Everything has worked beautifully since Christian finished. There are likely a couple more projects I'll tackle in the near future, and I won't hesitate to return to Grateful Plumber. The housecall was $59, but that was credited toward the repair once I decided to have them do the work. Friendly employees. Good follow-through. Fair pricing. Quality work. Problem solved. That's 5-star for me and another winner for Yelp's project feature.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I hired Roto-Rooter to clear a kitchen drain based on brand recognition. The technician did clear…read morethe drain quickly, but I am extremely upset by the fee. Being charged $438 to clear a single drain, especially after a "senior discount", is extraordinary and unjustifiable for a job that took only minutes. What's most troubling is the lack of pricing transparency. Had I been given even a general fee range when scheduling, I would not have agreed to schedule their plumber. I feel blindsided and taken advantage of. I will not use Roto-Rooter again and would strongly caution others to do their research before calling and ask detailed pricing questions before calling.

I had Roto-Rooter perform water remediation services at my home in March 2025. While I appreciate…read morethat the company has agreed to cover the cost of the new flooring, vanity, and faucet, I've been left with unresolved damage to both of my closet organizers -- damage that occurred during the service, not from the original water issue. Despite sharing photos and explaining the concerns in detail, the proposed solution has been to paint over cosmetic damage and patch the units rather than replace or properly restore them. I've been cooperative throughout this process and just want a fair resolution that reflects the condition of the items before they were handled. What's especially frustrating is that this unresolved issue is now delaying progress with my insurance claim. I've tried to address this directly and professionally with their team, but so far, there's been no acceptable path forward. I'm still hoping Roto-Rooter will step up and make this right -- and I'll gladly update this review if the issue is resolved. Until then, I'm sharing my experience so others know to be cautious and thorough when reviewing post-service damage.

If there's one thing I know nothing about, it's plumbing. I can unclog a drain and fix a toilet,…read morebut that's it. When I smelled gas in my house this summer, I knew something was wrong. The gas company came, determined I had a leak, and shut off my service. There I was, with neither hot water nor stove, betwixt cold showers and cold cuts. A first-world tragedy. I'd been paying for Utility Shield coverage for years in the off-chance something went awry. After making my claim, I knew I was at the mercy of whomever they sent. Fortunately, it was Gordon Plumbing. The initial plumber who responded spent three hours in my basement. Unfortunately, he was unable to fix this issue, as various leaks surfaced. He determined all my pipes needed replacing due to the age of the home. It was a job best suited for two men, which meant it would be two more days without gas. After what seemed an eternity, a two-man team from Gordon arrived exactly on time. The plumbers were incredibly knowledgable, professional, and frankly hilarious. They replaced my gas lines in less than three hours. They also determined whoever ran my gas lines (likely many, many years before I was born), created a complicated maze of piping. This increased the chances of a leak, but Gordon fixed that with my new system. I would not hesitate to use Gordon Plumbing in another unfortunate circumstance.

In the process of selling my home, it was discovered that a pipe that was installed before we…read morebought our house, ran underneath my neighbors driveway and would require excavation to correct. While disappointed that we would be responsible for repairing the neighbors property we agreed to cover the repair as this situation is not my neighbors fault. During the inspection, the pipe was approximated as to where it was located, but could not be verified at the time, due to my neighbors car causing interference with the equipment used to identify the exact spot of the line. Days later, the crew arrived to begin work, and this is where we ran into problems. While I was quoted one size (which was roughly 5x10 feet ) for the section (they believed) was the location of the pipe, they guessed incorrectly. They dug down approximately 7 feet and couldn't find the pipe, and it turns out they dug in the wrong spot. The hole went from 4x8 and ended up being closer to 11x11. I let the crew finish the job, and when contacted about settling the balance, I expressed some disappointment that the crew didn't verify the pipe location before digging as the scope of the repairs has now increased because of their mistake. As the saying goes, "measure twice, cut once", at this point, the call was handed off to "Mike (Terry?)", who basically got on the phone and badgered me for saying I had agreed to pay for the work when the job was done (which I had), and that his crew didn't have a camera to verify the actual line placement on the day of the work ( so, apparently that's my fault). The disrespectful way in which he came on the phone to pressure me into paying the bill and assumed no responsibility was extremely disappointing. I work in customer service for a living, and I have dealt with frustrated people over the years, and I can't recall having been so infuriated with the way I was treated. I will do everything I can to warn others about the response I received for being dissatisfied with the level of work that was done. The crew that did the work on the pipe was nice, but made mistakes, the staff that was ultimately responsible for trying to find a compromise was a complete failure. To provide perspective I have attached a picture of the first hole they dug (wrong spot, right size), and the final hole with the repaired pipe.

Recently we had this company clean out our grease trap, which they have done many times before…read more The gentleman running the truck dumped gallons of grease waste from their truck into our kitchen. They had no back up plan or equipment to clean it up so it took them 30 minutes to even start cleaning this horrible mess up. We lost hours for our employees and the smell after they were done with a very surface clean up was horrible. When I, the owner, arrived at the end of what was 3 hours to clean up the issue (which again is just surface, the stench is still very much there) the man who caused the issue made excuses and never once said he was sorry to me for what happened. We are now dealing with the smell of grease, which we don't even use in our restaurant. It's been a nightmare of a situation. All mats have had to be replaced, they damaged our wall during their "clean up" and it goes on. Mistakes do happen but the worst part is they have not given a true apology or even acknowledged why this is a problem. The owner took over 24 hours to look at the issue. I asked for a call and instead he showed up in the middle of lunch rush and looked at the kitchen and said he "doesn't see the problem". The smell get's so bad we cannot have our door or large window closed. His response was "it's just grease - the smell eventually goes away" and "you know grease isn't a hazard right?". I'm so surprised at the lack of care and concern and even just basic customer service. Especially for a company we've used for years. It's already cost us over $1,000 in lost wages and mats alone and I have no idea what the cost will be for our damaged wall and floor.
