went here last night after visiting times at hospital as it was just across the road, im surprised…read morenot more inmates (of the hospital) dont go there because of the food thats on offer at the hospital... on a monday and a tuesday there is an offer of 5 courses for £7.95, i dont know how they work out the courses but the food was exceptional, not a lot of choice from the set menu though.... so with 2 bottles of shiraz later and a big doggy bag to bring home came to under £40 for the two of us and me with my dinner the next day, the restaraunt itself had a complete make over about 31/2 yrs ago and looks really nice and a good size tables and chairs where comfortable, unfortunatly we were the only ones there, but the owners and staff where very polite and attentative, the young proprietors son, was very helpful in letting us know what we was eating and helpful in making my choice on what to eat as i dont do very hot food..... the toilet facilities was very clean, but very small its a good job i was the only woman in , cos i pee'd with the door open lol, as would feel very claustraphobic. they even ordered a taxi for us, and we made sure we got a take out menu as im sure we will go again xmx

This restaurant offers a cuisine from the Southen part of India, Kerala, known as "The Spice Bowl". Unusual flavours and rich scents pervade everything. The lunchtime menu is served as a Thali style, all together in small dishes on a larger silver platter. It's a very convenient way to eat because everything is there in front of you. From the Tilapia starter, through the lamb curry and Tarka dahl, everything including the mango dessert was wonderful. Indian beers too. View of the marina is nice too. LED lights and black\chrome fittings are not my thing - I prefer the old back street curry house place. Yes it was a tuesday night, yes there was perhaps 5 other tables taken but I think you can tell when a place cares about its customers and wants to see those customers become regulars. Quick pint at the bar and explanation that one of the guys in our group hadnt had Indian food much so would want a very mild meal. We had usual papad and dips - OK Chicken and Lamb tikka, Dhall soup - very good. Chicken Ceylon (madras style but with more coconut and lots of black pepper) Chicken Passada ( for the newbie) Chicken Rogan 3 rice 2 Naan - 1 stuffed paratha Channa massala , Saag Aloo 6 pints 3 large brandies All very good, plenty of meat, all tasted fresh. However I was in Pave with some customers and the barman recommended Rays as the best curry house in the area. It's being your own booze and has a 24 hour little Sainsbury next door so no worries there. The decor and general feeling is like the 70's style curry houses I first started going to as a kid. It made me feel a little nostalgic to be honest. Service was good and the food just as good. There was 5 of us and all agreed great curry. The Madras I had was at the hotter end of most restaurants I have been in recently either that or its time to upgrade to Vindaloo!! I dont even know what time this place closes as it always seems to be open. The have a large range of curries - obviously the very popular korma and tikka massarla and my particular favourite Biryimi!! The fact that you can take your own alcohol in means that with the 24hr local sainburys means this makes it a very cheap meal! The restaurant is only small but this is not a problem as it's still nice with a good atmosphere and friendly staff - it also means you dont have that long a wait!

They stock organic, and fairtrade produce, there is a lot more here than can be found in most health food shops like Holland and Barrat. They are not strictly vegetarian and stock a nice range of organic/free range meat, as well as fresh veg and the usual meat/dairy/gluten free produce. They also have essential oils and skincare ranges. Some of the prices are a little steep, but you don't mind so much when you know where your food has come from!
