What an appalling place!!!…read more If you really feel the need to go, don't take your friends. I visited with friends - about 10 of us, at about 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. They watched us all come through the door. Were happy to serve us and take money off us, yet they refused to seat us, despite the place being barely half full. In all fairness the bar staff were reasonably helpful and were reasonably happy for us to push a couple of tables together...that was until the man who appeared to be running the show appeared and said that we could not sit together, that the large tables that could have accommodated us were reserved for 7pm that evening. Despite the fact we assured him that we were only staying for the one - maybe a 2nd, we would certainly be gone before his bookings arrived. This was to no avail, seating was refused, we finished our drinks very quickly and left. How an the management of an establishment like this can have the arrogance to behave in this manner is beyond me. There are far nicer bars and far more accommodating bars on Newland Avenue than this. When we left, we crossed the road and went to Larkins, who were happy for our custom. My recommendation is that you walk past Sleepers, and find somewhere (anywhere) that deserves and appreciates your patronage.

Barely average I would say. Feels quite claustrophobic when it's busy as it's very cramped. Usual…read moreselection of beers and spirits that all the trendy new cafe bars in Hull seem to have. In fact there is nothing to tell this place apart fom any of the others with it's open plan, lowered ceiling and cheapo wooden chairs and tables. I shared a Greek platter there and that is worth mentioning solely for how naff it was. The olives in our own special marinade were the plasticy black and green things that come out of briney cans and just chucking a bit of olive oil, garlic and tomato on it can not disguise the fact. There was no pitta bread so they gave us a bit of french stick instead which just doesn't go. The crudite's had been prepared possibly the week before and were dried out and limp. The houmus and tzatsiki I would bet had been purchased from the Tesco's up the road Really badly prepared and presented. This has super status amongst those in the know but I don't understand the hype for these places really.
