Seems like a really popular spot for the locals and is open I think 24 hours! This is the ultimate curry-wurst place in Berlin. Got the organic (bio-) currywurst with double dipped fries - tasted awesome! They also have organic vollbier to go with it. I come here first (line moves fast) so I have something to munch on while I wait for Mustafas (line is long). It's OK. It is cut up pork sausage, with fries, covered in ketchup, curry powder, and a bit of mayo. It does the job of keeping my tummy occupied while I'm standing in line for my doner. However, when I compare my extreme happiness for my 3.20 euro massive doner vs my satisfaction for my 4.90 euro snack sized currywurst, and factoring out the convenience of being able to eat it while waiting in line for food 20 feet away, I probably wouldn't spend more than 3 euros for what I'm getting. read more

Alright you future traveling readers of English, this place is pretty good, and it was listed in almost every traveler's handbook I saw for Berlin. This little stand of tastefulness melted my mouth like none other in Berlin. Its like an In N Out but with hot dogs and fries with mayonnaise or ketchup at extra charge ;-) I would go here if I were you, not necessarily for the food, but that would mean I would be in Europe right now and not here. But the sausage is still so very good. It goes well with beer, or bier. hahaha. They have some other stuff as well that I'd like to try but the curry wurst and fries was pretty dang good. I've been to Berlin twice, and both times included a stop by Curry 36. It is very fortunate for Berliners and tourists alike that two of the best spots for some delicious and cheap grub in the city are literally steps away. I speak of course of this place and the famous Mustafa's Gemüsedöner. Curry 36 is great for its sheer simplicity. You order, you pay, you get your currywurst, all in less than a minute if done right. I haven't ordered anything besides the 4€ currywurst with fries both times I've been, simply because I have never been given any reason to do so. The ketchup and mayonnaise go well with both the currywurst and the fries. While wurst is a little low on the curry for first-timers, I think it's just enough not to dominate the actual flavor of the meat. Since Kreuzberg is a little out of the way relative to central Beriln, my advice is this. Come in a group, start standing in line for Mustafas, have someone grab some currywurst from Curry 36 and another person grab some beers from the convenience store across the sidewalk from Mustafas, and enjoy your incredible food and drinks while in line before the döners arrive. A friend suggested we try this place, and I'm glad we did (because we also came across Mustafas!). It was our first time trying currywurst, so I can't really say it's the "best".. but I thought it was pretty good. We got two sliced sausages with fries for under 5€. It is definitely drowned in mayo, ketchup, and curry powder, but that sauce/mix was bomb. The mayo is different than the mayo in the US, but I think it's actually better that way. It made the fries and sausages taste even better, in my opinion. They don't have any seating, only tables for stand-up eating. But I recommend just eating it while waiting in line for Mustafas. :) read more

I'm not so sure what was so crazy great about this place. I went to this place about 1.5 years ago during the Alternative Berlin tour (which is a great idea for English speakers, and they also have a kickass Alternative Berlin Pubcrawl to go with it) and wasn't blown away by it. YUM! I actually despise curry, so I ordered a "delikatess weiner" - essentially a giant hot dog, with a small dinner roll as a "bun" which made for some good laughs. I warned my friend visiting from out of town not to expect much from "Berliner Currywurst" but even I as disappointed at Curry 36. We tried a regular and bio currywurst, it was ok, nothing beyond a regular American hot dog (maybe worse). There is an extra layer of "skin" which has a strange texture. My friend brought me here; she said it was her favorite currywurst stand in all of Berlin. It was my first time having currywurst and I must say I liked it a lot. I think it flew a little under my expectations for wurst in general, but I think that might just be due to the type of food it is. I really liked the fries, they were well done, and the mayo is very nice as well. The mayo seemed less tart than others you might be used to (such as Hellman's aka Best Foods) but it was very good and I think went well with the fries. Personally I preferred the wurst with no casing but you might prefer it with. The wurst with casing basically tastes like there is a spongy outer layer to the sausage which for me wasn't a super great texture. The sausages themselves were very good but not the most amazing sausages I've ever had. I also think they went a tad overboard with the ketchup but that is a minor gripe. Overall though, I think this serves as a great quick greasy spoon if you are hungry and need of good food in a jiffy! read more

Located a stone's throw away from Mustafa's (the most famous Döner stand), the best way to do it is to have one person wait in the line for Curry 36 and another for Mustafa's. Trust me, there will be lines, but both are worth the wait. The curry Pommes Frites are my jam, and are a great vegetarian alternative. Nice late night snack joint. We came to this area because of Mustafa but when I saw the long line here I had to try this place. The menu is simple and the line moves quick. I would say it was one of the best currywurst we had during our 10 day trip in Germany. The fast food restaurant is on the forecourt of the station and you have to consume your curry wurst outside at the food stall. It's a cheap and typical choice in Berlin. Order a wurst with fries (catch the options: "mit Darm", "ohne Darm", "Rot/Weiss", ...). To complete the meal you could have a local beer. For under 6 Euros, you get a smothering of ketchup and mustard and curry over 2 wursts and a side of jumbo sliced fries. Delightfully German, for any visit to Berlin, this place is a must! The most delicious currywurst served with freshly cooked fries and healthy dollops of ketchup and mayonnaise. Curry 36 was the first place I tried currywurst in Berlin. When I arrived, the line wasn't that long and it moved rather quickly. Under 5 euros for 2 pieces of currywurst and fries is a DEAL to me! I couldn't finish my meal although I enjoyed it - I should have split it with a friend. I enjoyed the fries (get them with mayo to be like a local!) more than the currywurst, but I enjoyed that as well. It's a good spot to try currywurst for the first time, because it's cheap, quick and good. Besides, if you don't like it, you can always go up the block to Mustafa's and try a doner kebab! Oh and there are no seats - you'll be standing outside at a table while you eat. read more
