Potato salad (back) sausage and fries in front

One of the best spots for a curry sausage and fries and a popular tourist spot! So yummy

I thought the currywurst here was ok. It's supposed to be one of the best places for curry sausage, so maybe I'm not into this sort of dish. Currywurst is essentially just a hot dog with curry powder and ketchup on it. I came on a weekday night and the line was still pretty long - maybe a 30 min wait with 10 people in front. It seemed like almost everyone in line were tourists. I got the currywurst that came with fries. The sausage itself was pretty small, and I don't think the flavoring added that much. The fries were decent, pretty crispy, but nothing out of the ordinary. The portion size was pretty small, and it came out to around 6.70 euros which I think is pretty expensive for better quality and bigger portion size food you can find around Berlin.

This place has the best vegan Currywurst that I know about. This would already give it 5 stars in my opinion as this sadly is quite rare In 2021 when you go to a place that is mainly geared towards meat eaters. They also prepare the vegan sausage completely seperste from the meat based products so there is no cross conterminatiom happening. Prices are on the cheaper side as it is a "Imbiss" but the vegan sausage is a bit more expensive then the meat original. Now they also have vegan Mayo so you can also enjoy your side of fries the euorpean way and still vegan.

It was after 1A, I had flown from Los Angeles to Stockholm (for the day), then to Berlin - checked into our hotel and hadn't eaten much at all. I couldn't get my hands on some German sausage any sooner! The place was abuzz but the service was super quick. It was delish!!!! I probably could have been set with just one but I ordered the double sausage, with fries, ketchup and mayo and just about devoured every last bite standing out-front drinking a Berliner Pilsner. If you're into quick, cheap, fill you up fast food this is the place to be. I'd advise to go easy because just a few steps away are other really tasty looking options (Mustafa kebob) as well.

Quick moving line around 12:00PM on a Tuesday. Pros: -Covered outdoor standing area -Vegetarian and vegan options! Cons: -Vegan options take ~5 minutes longer to make, which seems like a long time at a food stand -- Currywurst (no bread or fries, 1.70 euro) Sliced currywurst with curry ketchup--tastes like a better version of a hot dog.

In searching for good eats in Berlin, stumbled upon a blog post that called Curry 36 the best currywurst so we had to check it out! On a Tuesday afternoon, they had a decent sized crowd but the lines moved fast. In addition to a la carte, they have some special meal options, including 2 currywursts with fries for €5.20. We later learned that this good deal isn't offered at all the locations. You can also choose if you want the sausage to having casing/skin. So let's get to the food - rather than a thick curry sauce, they sprinkle curry powder topped with ketchup, which I really liked since the curry wasn't overpowering. Sausage with no casing was interesting, it changes the texture. And the fries had a nice crunch. A very good snack option.

I had no idea what a currywurst was until I started reading about it before my trip to Berlin. The best way to describe it is a hot dog chopped in slices and doused with curry powder and tomato sauce. You eat it with a toothpick. It turns out to be the junk-food staple for the populace there akin to burgers, fish n' chips, and tacos over here. I read that if you are going for your virginal currywurst experience, this is, hands down, the place to patronize. It's in the down-low neighborhood of Kruezberg where there is no dearth of bargain-priced eateries, a lot of them ethnic and I'm sure plenty of them good eatin'. Curry 36 is really just a two-window stand with a bunch of stand-up tables very similar to the original Nathan's at Coney Island. Like Nathan's, it's hugely popular with queues all night long, but unlike Nathan's, they move pretty quickly in there and serve with little fuss. I ordered the standard Currywurst for 1.50 Euros, upon which the server asked me whether I wanted more than that. Assuming he meant it was going to be a bit paltry, I ordered a pile of Pommes Frites (French fries to you philistines) with a dollop of mayonnaise on top for another 1.50 Euros. The combination came in a semi-flimsy paper holder which you transport quickly to any available table space (see photos). Now I know what the server meant as the burly guy next to me was downing at least four franks worth of currywurst with some carb-heavy bread rolls. I guess that's pretty standard since it's a relative bargain for the quantity you get. Anyway, did I mention the currywurst here is trailer-trash delicious? How could it not be since the spicy kick of the curry marries the sausage and tomatoes quite seamlessly. I have to admit for all that, the standout item has to be the fries which are done just short of crisp and work nicely with the mayo and tomato sauce all slopped together. FOOD - 5 stars...junk food worthy of its reputation AMBIANCE - 2.5 stars...a stool would have been nice SERVICE - 4 stars...fast...and they speak English with ease TOTAL - 5 stars...hey, it's good enough for me to consider opening a currywurst food truck in San Francisco

I was intimidated by long lines at all hours of the day, well, especially at night when it seems to be really popping, but I was able to avoid waiting in line one evening, and took my friends to go here! The rumours are true: best currywurst in Berlin!! And the service is really fast! I want to also say that the fries are so freakin' delicious! Ah, love it. If I lived in Kreuzberg, this would probably be my snack at all hours of the day, that is how much I love it, and it is also cheap, and the employees are super friendly! A MUST-GO PLACE IN BERLIN!

    Crowded fun!

After WWII, strange things happened. Some of them deserve to live on. Some, like the Berlin Wall, do not. Here is one that we can cherish for years to come, as long as you come to Curry 36 for Currywurst! Take German sausage, add a little English curry, and throw in some American ketchup and you have an original fusion of three cultures. Throw in French fries and fresh mayonnaise, and you are in fusion nirvana. Even if you have to stand in line for a while, eat standing up with a huge, hungry, yet polite and law abiding crowd under an awning, are you crazy enough to miss this? Don't do it. Try it once and experience fusion life.

Nothing special with the currywurst here, although it's really popular among locals and tourists alike. It's your standard sausage smothered with curry ketchup. They cost about €1.70 a pop. Most folks grab an order to curb their hunger while waiting in line for Mustafa's.

Looks pretty now but quickly became one hot mess.

4AM on a post-party Saturday morning = MUNCHIES TIME. But where oh where??? =( Streets of Berlin are mostly quiet, not quite sleeping but on the way to winding down, and then... YES CURRY 36 SMELLS SO GOOD. Yes I take the sausage. Yes I take the fries. Yes I take the sauces, yes ALL of the sauces. Yes I don't know exactly what I'm ordering but I do remember from four years of French class that 'apple of the earth' sounds about right. Smothered, Suffocating, and Slimy. The mayochup was strong with this one. Much too strong. I suppose liquid lubricant makes it easy to consume (aka slide down throat) regardless how drunk you are. The chunks of meat were consumed quickly. The fries required some scraping, and sadly many were lost forever in the tar. Lots of talk on how much you would need to get paid, to drink up the rest of the pink goo. We settled somewhere on 200 euros.

First time to Berlin & heard i had to come get a taste of this famous currywurst! It was pretty delicious and the fries they served were perfectly! The only thing i didnt like was that massive amount of sauce (ketchup & mayo) they topped it off with. I would ask for it on the side next time.

    Vegan currywurst!

They have vegan currywurst and it was so good! This is such a good late night snack! I will miss it when I go back to the US! If you're a vegan look no further curry 36 has got you!

The food was quite good, had to try the currywürste and it was tasty. The service was also quick and they were very friendly.

Very interesting. The sauce is like a chipotle ketchup. I'd definitely give it a try if you're in the area! One order is good for sharing.
