(This one is an amalgamation of a few visits at different times over the past six or seven years…read morebut primarily from our most recent trip last June.) Every time we stay in OBX it's always in Corolla and if we're looking for booze this ABC store is very convenient as it's about a five minute drive from the hotel. Being from PA this ABC reminds me of a hybrid of our Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores (aka State Stores). PA stores at one time were all mostly small with aisles of random things arranged in a cluttered mess. But newer or redesigned stores while larger and more spread out are also more visually appealing with better designs. This store is small and I wouldn't say it has an overabundance of choices, but it's well laid out with good prices and it should get the job done for most of your liquor needs especially if you're looking for something made in NC. Last trip we were there it was a weekday around dinner time in mid-June and the place was deserted. Just us and the old lady at the register who was Skype watching? some sort of graduation ceremony on her phone at full volume. When we got to the register she was very nice and we didn't seem to be bothering her but she also never turned her phone down either. Whatever. Note that this place is not for beer. If you want that you can visit the Northern Outer Banks Brewing Company which is almost next door, the Brew Thru in the Timbuck II shopping area, Food Lion or Harris Teeter.

We threw the food out and went to bed hungry (Corolla doesn't have a lot of options at night on a Monday). Sandwiches were STALE tasting, something was off, and the chicken we're almost 100% was reheated from the previous day. Tough, dry, just gag. Next time we'll make the drive to Publix in Kitty Hawk.

Upon entering, the staff member at the counter did not acknowledge us, But at checkout, he refused to complete the sale, then wrongfully accused me of attempting to purchase liquor for my own son. He claimed my son had touched a bottle and referenced security cameras as justification for denying the sale. At no point did my son touch any alcohol, nor was there any indication of inappropriate behavior on our part. This kind of baseless accusation and poor customer treatment is unacceptable. I'm shocked by the disrespectful and accusatory attitude of your staff member, and I will not be returning to your store.
