This is THE WORST "Christian Family Establishment" I have EVER stepped foot in. I worked here for a brief period of time and it was the worst experience in my life, not because I worked here, but because of what I heard and saw. The owner, Pat Currie, is not who he makes himself out to be. He is supposed to be this wonderful "Christian" man, but he is far from that. Every day I witnessed and heard him talk awful about his customers behind their backs. He knows a lot of people, so he would say bad things about these customers' personal lives, but smile and act friendly to their faces.
We also had customers that were part of the Special Olympics team. He would talk awful about these sweet, innocent people who looked up to him! One day, he saw one of them crossing the street, about heading inside. When he was almost inside, Pat took off to the back and the customer yelled "Hey Pat, where you going?" And Pat responded back "Away from you because you f***ing smell" just loud enough for us behind the counter to hear. My heart broke and I never looked at this man the same. To say that about a mentally handicapped person, I was appalled at his behavior.
Another incident similar to the previous, he called his own daughter a "retard". She was working one night and sold a minor a tobacco product. Well, that happened to be a sting and she failed to ask for ID, so the store ended up getting a fine. Upon being served the fine, Pat said something along the lines of "you can't do that, she a retard". Again, my heart broke further because that's his own daughter, and I couldn't fathom how one could say that about their daughter.
Aside from the awful things this man says, I have witnessed his employees handle food (cookies, pizza, roller grill items) bare handed. I've actually spoken up and asked for them to wear the gloves they are provided with, which they did not. I've seen multiple items that were out of date still on the shelves and nobody else was concerned about it. Not to mention, they are never inspected. If you serve food, you are required to be inspected by the health department. For some reason, they do not get inspected. Suspicious if you ask me.
Overall, this gas station is just awful. I think if his customers knew what he says about them and knew what goes on in that store, they would spend their money elsewhere. It's sad, really. read more
