I was sad to learn Annie's had closed, but was so pleased to discover that former employees had purchased the physical business and launched something new. Coming here used to be a joyous occasion for my husband and I, but it was sold to a monster. We went there once at that time, and it was a shadow of the greatness it had been. Gone were the seasonal parties and sales, gone was the fun and whimsey of the place. And the people who worked there, the real stars were mistreated by the monster and some left. Now the monster is gone, but this place hasn't come back to what it was. It seems that they don't have the same energy and vibe. But the plants aren't as vast as they were in the past. I will try them again. I was touched by the stories of people who took plants home to care for them when the monster closed the business. I'm glad that Annie is working with a group of employees to get the business back up and running. It's just that now, they are a promising shell of a once great business. I'm pulling for a better experience on my next visit. I'm confident that will happen. read more

Sure, we're heading into winter but I have flowers! Just bought three different poppies and a replacement flower for one that I did in by improper transplant :( No worries because Curious Flora has a LOT of fall and winter options. These poppies are early but they'll be on fire as early as spring. I recommend getting on their mailing list to find out what's happening on any given weekend. If you haven't been here, I recommend stopping in on your way past Richmond. Maybe 10 minutes off 580 and if you love plants, especially ones you can't find anywhere else! read more

Some magical, marvelous, and somehow better than the Annie's re-boot. So many plants with such great descriptions. Plant availability online which was spectacular... I was able to walk right in and find the exact plant I was looking for plus more (can anyone ever walk about with exactly what they came for???) Have been back a few times and also read the Business Manager's defensive reply to my review. Sometimes it is better to just listen to the customer. The selection is decent and now they offer loyalty points but still no CNPS discount. So I saved $3 last weekend. They were celebrating a year open and had some really nice vendors. read more

BEWARE!! CURIOUS FLORA DOES NOT OFFER EXCHANGE SERVICE! After investing $280.00 on March 4th, 2026 with Curious Flora for numerous outdoor plants, I realized I made the typical blunder of misjudging the sun exposure in my backyard - YIKES!! In spite of that, I expected a seamless process and anticipated no issues when I contacted Curious Flora about a straight swap of some of the full sun plants (since they were unplanted and untouched) for partial sun/shade plants. Coleen, who claimed to be the owner, essentially replied NOT A CHANCE and shut down my exchange request almost immediately - insisting on a strict no refund policy. I reiterated that I simply wanted a straight exchange and noted that I was under the impression that an exchange was likely permissible as my receipt contained no language to the contrary. As soon as I mentioned, in my experience, most nurseries accept exchanges within 7 days providing the plants are in their original, healthy and saleable condition, Coleen countered, with a superior attitude, that plant exchange policies are offered for places like Home Depot and suggested that I should have gone there. When I alluded to Annie's Annuals - the previous longstanding former nursery's nurturing, attentive, soft approach and after sales service, Coleen high-handedly pointed out that Annie's Annuals went out of business. read more

I was happy this place opened up. I was excited to see all the things come to fruition here. Truly excited. Now, I am unhappy. With many things. Quality of plants are there. Some better looking than others. BUT, the prices are high for being so small and selling young plants for this cost. I asked about Wholesale Pricing, no response. I also had two plants die and was never responded to. I sent photos in regards to this and have been completely ignored since then. Not happy. Will not be returning. read more

I stopped here this afternoon after a stop at Costco to cash in my refund certificate. That took longer because I wanted a check rather than cash and the sweet young man helping me needed to take my credit card, so I couldn't shop while he was gone, so after I finished shopping I drove out to Curious Flora. I parked close to their fence, near the entrance. I walked in to the nursery and was greeted by Edward, who asked if he could help me. I said I was looking for Douglas iris and for Pink Kabooms. He offered to get them for me and told to meet him at check stand 2! I was very appreciative and went to the check stand, where I got into a lovely conversation about fuchsias w/ a woman, another longtime customer just returning. Edward returned w/ 3 Pink Kabooms, but said they had no Douglas iris, although the person he spoke w/ said they planned to add them, so it looks like I'll be returning to the UC Botanical Garden. Fiona rang me up, returned me to their database and agreed w/ me that Edward is a lovely man. Then she offered to take my plants out to the car, which I appreciated. The nursery looked tidier than it had, w/ new matting on the ground and a few new arrangements to the infrastructure. It looks good and I look forward to wandering around on another occasion. I have been wanting to visit since they reopened and I'm so glad I made it today! Until I read Dylan M's review I knew the previous owner was a piece of work but I was unaware she had kept the mailing list. So if you were on Annie's mailing list, contact Curious Flora to get back in their database. I would recommend Curious Flora also look at Annie's reviews on Yelp, Google and TripAdvisor then contact those people directly. It won't capture those who are not on social media, but it will be a great start. read more

I love this place. They have a good selection of plants but back when it was Annie's they had a wonderful variety of antique roses and brugmansia. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the bourbon roses and the variety of brugmansia that you used to have. That being said I wouldn't shop at any other nursery. This place is heaven on earth for people who are fed up with the stale selection of plants at big box stores. read more

A very nice feature on the Curious Flora website is an availability list which is kept quite current. It certainly helps me with shopping. It's January now so things are more drab than usual. I expect the inspirational demonstration planters to absolutely explode with color in Spring. So nice to still have this wonderful nursery. read more

As we all know this was Annie's but that is now the past name of this nursery. The place looks much the same, stickers have been placed over the prior name on the signs and elsewhere - but most of the wonderful informational signs are still there. Many row end planters seem to have been lost while the nursery was closed and the abundance of them are not there. An employee told me they are working on it, but it will take time. Lovely to have one person floating around helping people. She was friendly and informative. While I will always miss Annie's Annuals (especially when Annie ran it!) I will continue to frequent this nursery with joy, wonder and hands that grab more plants then I mean to get. Thank you to the two companies that stepped up to save this gem! read more

Other than higher prices (compared to old Annie's Annuals, to be expected), a well curated nursery selling plants you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Albeit in primarily 4" pots, which is why you can buy a rather unique (and rare) plants for a reasonable cost. I have many plants in my garden, some 8-10' tall, that started from this nursery in 4" pots. Recommend a trip here! read more

Finally went to Curious Flora today to see what became of Annie's Annuals old nursery space, and it's still fantastic. Same huge selection of interesting plants , but now the example planting beds are fully labeled. I got two rare Fuchsias that are mite resistant, which I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I'm so glad the old Annie's employees were able to reopen as a nursery that is somehow the same as before, only better. read more

Another reviewer mentioned the loss of end row planters but I'm pretty sure they are all stashed back by the porta potties as of November 16th. We stopped in and were happy to see long lines at the retail check=out. Staff mentioned that they lost about a four week period of seeding new crops due to the transition, but we're here for the new growing season. read more
