They easily have the largest bamboo selection in the bay area. It definitely takes some time to find the perfect bamboo to meet your needs. Fortunately, Bob or Carol will guide you through the 'jungle'. Prices are based on the contents of each pot which leaves room for negotiation. On my last visit I bought a 'black' bamboo and a giant timber oldhami. Prices were very reasonable. Every visit always brings a wealth of priceless knowledge. Bob and Carol are willing to spend the whole day with you to cater to your needs and answer every question until you are satisfied. The place is only accessible by appointment, however, Bob and Carol make them selves available.

Then, all the way in the rear of the nursery, a woman enforcer of public entry treated me like a criminal stealing nuclear secrets and did all but put me in cuffs, escorting me bodily to the "public area." I may have passed a sign that said as much but I didn't see one. I passed at least 6 other people on my way in who didn't seem to notice me going into a restricted area of the base. They have nice plants, but challenging service.

Gone were the seasonal parties and sales, gone was the fun and whimsey of the place. And the people who worked there, the real stars were mistreated by the monster and some left. Now the monster is gone, but this place hasn't come back to what it was. It seems that they don't have the same energy and vibe. But the plants aren't as vast as they were in the past. I will try them again. I was touched by the stories of people who took plants home to care for them when the monster closed the business. I'm glad that Annie is working with a group of employees to get the business back up and running. It's just that now, they are a promising shell of a once great business. I'm pulling for a better experience on my next visit. I'm confident that will happen.

One thing that I was worried about was getting persuaded into purchasing something that was way overpriced and something that I didn't need but I never felt that here. The service was straight forward and I was in and out within fifteen minutes.
