We stopped here specifically for the pumpkin patch. They had a solid selection of pumpkins and gourds. The prices were fair and everyone was nice. We did wonder inside after our pumpkin hunting and found a cool selection of gifts and small decor type items. read more

I wrote a review about a vanity that had issues with the draw handles and no glides on the 2 drawers. This vanity was picked up by someone because live 3 hours away. The vanity should have been doublechecked by an employee from Curiosity before letting it go out the door. Also, the owner wanted us to go through 2 different banks which we didn't even have an account at. There was a comment from a business owner after I made my review that I should have brought it back and not paid the entire amount. The contractor installed it and didn't think they had to check it out before installing it. It's a real annoyance that every time we open or close one of the drawers, it's very loud. No wonder they don't deal with selling furniture anymore! I'm sure I wasn't the only unhappy customer. read more

This 1 star is for Curiosity's customer service. If you live out of state and decide to order something from this place, please be aware of the following: 1. There is no confirmation email. I initially found this place via Etsy and was expecting to do business that way. However, the business owner called instead, and it was done over the phone. This made it much more difficult, as you couldn't be sure you were indeed ordering what you wanted. They confirmed the piece by having me read the product name (the three capital letters in the product name within parentheses may seem like unique identifiers, but they are not - ie HAI). To be on the safe side, clearly write down the product names of the pieces you want and take screenshots. When I tried to link back to the product page, they had already taken it down. What's more disconcerting is that a couple days after I ordered my dressers, Curiosity removed all items from its shop. 2. On their Etsy shop, they made it very clear that shipping was not free and that you must call for a quote. That's what I did. The policy is that they charge you for the price of the item, plus a $40 palette fee first. Once the item ships, then they charge the shipping (which for my order and location costs $300) separately. 3. There is no follow-up on when an item ships. I ordered my item (and was charged for the item) on 6/4. I didn't hear anything for more than a week. (Looking back, I am angry at myself for not asking for more details in terms of when the items will be shipped). I finally call on 6/17 (thinking it's on its way). I knew the store is on the outskirts of NC, so I figured it may take some time. The owner communicates that it will get shipped on Wednesday 6/19, and it'll take 3-5 days to arrive. I am disappointed, but I let it go. I figure it's an Etsy shop and it's worthwhile to support local businesses. Maybe they were having a rough couple of weeks. 3-5 days come and go, and I don't hear anything. So on Tuesday 6/25, I contact the owner, who now tells me that my dressers won't ship until Friday 6/28. Now I'm angry - I've already been charged for the dressers ($700) + palette fee ($40), and you don't follow up with me immediately to tell me shipping has been delayed? He starts to tell me reasons why and then does not apologize. I point out that I am upset that he did NOT communicate the delay - I mean come on, these are big purchases. On top of that, he now explains that the shipping fee may be an additional $20 or more - which is UNACCEPTABLE, since my shipping fee was already $300. I clearly explained that I took the time to read all his policies, follow all the rules about calling for shipping, and he doesn't have the decency to contact me to simply communicate shipping status? I threatened to cancel, but based on his explanation and apology (finally), I tell him to proceed. I tell him to contact me on Friday 6/28 when the item ships. Friday 6/28 comes, and he hasn't contacted me during business hours. I finally had to text him at 6:12 pm. He doesn't respond until 8:50 pm with the following: "I'll send u a tracking number in a few minutes" and then an hour later at 9:51 pm - "Actually it will have to be in the am when I can send that to you, but they are gone." Saturday 6/30 "am" comes and goes, and still no tracking number. So I contact him at 6:42 pm. He finally responds at 7:23 pm. with all the information. The two dressers finally arrived on Monday 7/1. This has been a very stressful and bad experience. The dressers I ordered were NOT worth the hassle. Sure - Curiosity has some great looking stuff. However, this type of customer service has turned me off completely. I will never again buy anything from Curiosity, nor do I recommend it. read more

Stopped by this store and found a very cute wooden Santa that I loved, but it was not priced. There were many of these Santas in two big boxes, and I just happen to find a larger one that was priced for roughly $65 dollars. Took the Santa that I wanted to purchase to the register and inquired about the price. Long story short, the manager said they were $99.00 and up....we showed him the price on the larger one that was priced at $65. The manager then disappeared, but abruptly returned to the register and informed me that these Santas were now not for sale. Not good business practice for the store, plus a very rude manager. The young girl at the register seemed to be embarrassed, and she did apologize. I'm sure they don't need my business, but I don't plan to return for another bad shopping experience. I have not had a good experience with Curiosity. The only positive was a request to cancel an item due to the size. I placed my order on May 26th and did not get an update or reply on my purchase as it related to delivery. I had to drop by the location on June 18th to find out that the order had not been scheduled for delivery. I few items that were small were placed in the drawer, and I spent 30 minutes trying to retrieve the items, Once the large item was delivered, I received a call from the delivery company. He wanted to know the shipment code in order to be paid. I paid Curiosity, so I had no idea what he was asking. I would not recommend anyone purchasing from this company. Buying direct would be my only suggestion. read more

You are very pricey for a consignment shop. Maybe this is for rich tourists and not for locals. NC is such a great place to buy new furniture and antiques, it makes little sense to have a consignment shop that is cost prohibitive. read more

This place has beautiful and unique finds from jewelry, to clothing, to home decor, to furniture, you name it! The place has grown and added so many new and wonderful categories of items in the past year. I really enjoy stopping by this place when I'm in the area and can never leave empty handed!! I've bought the best smelling soaps and ended up finding them from the company who makes them on line because I couldn't live without them. I've bought antique kitchen items and other small things that I have been very happy with. They were short on items the last trip due to COVID but I still walked away with some nice things. I will continue to support them and look forward to the time we can have the store full again and shop to our hearts content!! Sweet Place! They had the most gorgeous old cabinet from Mexico with reclaimed doors-super heavy and well made. THIS PLACE is a JOKE! Also, 1 Review Star is more than they deserve! Upon entering the building, a Representative/Sales person approached us with the following statement: "If you haven't been here before, let me explain how this works. We do not accept credit cards or checks, cash only". Makes one wonder what the IRS thinks. As we walked through the 3-4 large rooms, we found little to nothing that was 'authentic' or 'antique'. The majority of furniture items were imported from Mexico and reproduced with a faux 'Shabby Chic' look. Even in their outside 'Salvage' area, there were rows of various sized, gaudily painted, tin Mexican chickens. Their prices are beyond outrageous. Not many people I know carry $500-$700 in cash for such an occasion as this. This store is located in a wonderful scenic area in NC, but as far THIS store is concerned...Tourist BEWARE! read more

Not as big as I thought it would be based on Facebook pictures, I would not characterize this place as a 'mega' wear house like they do but it is a wear house and the selection was pretty good. Drove to Boone from Asheville NC specifically to go here. A sign on the front door notified us that only cash was accepted. They had an ATM machine but they need to know that many accounts have dollar amount limits on ATM transactions. Furthermore, I never use an ATM and do not know my PIN offhand. Had I wished to purchase something I would have had to inconvenience someone to go to my house and get the number for me. Their FaceBook page looks like it's an amazing place but not so much. I was expecting much more inventory, more of their repurposed items, and less made-in-China, mass produced look-a-likes. I'm sure that their cash only policy had some affect on my shopping attitude. Very disappointed, went for the salvage yard shown on their Facebook. Hoped to find some shutters or other antique items to use for projects. Very small selection, not like photos. Many things were not priced or the items had been outside so long the tags were unreadable. Had no idea on several prices, but wasn't carrying items through the maze of furniture back to the front just to ask, especially the wood, which I never found any prices about. Nowhere near the size and selection they advertise on FB. Staff was not attentive or friendly. Walked around for 15 minutes before anyone offered to explain the pricing system. Said they would be right with us and never came back. Had to seek someone out after about 20 minutes. Items were extremely over priced and the pricing system is ridiculous. Wasted an hour drive. I do not recommend! I know I of several better consignment stores within a 20 minute drive of my house with a better selection,ore reasonable prices, and friendlier staff. read more

I would rate this shop zero stars if possible. I have never had a worse experience. BUYER BEWARE. I gave them my credit card number (at 5:30 PM) to hold a pair of nightstands I had seen on the internet until my daughter, who was travelling, could look at them later on that evening. I called back at 8:00 am to let them know she didn't want them. Not only did they charge my card for the nightstands, they charged me for painting the nightstands which they had said they wouldnt even be able to do for 6 weeks!! this was in the beginning of June and they are still refusing to refund my money. One excuse after another...".checks in the mail" ..I've been to busy to mail your check"..."we have a no refund policy"..."take a store credit"..."I didn't have your address" ...and my favorite "I didn't know who to make the check out to" . They refuse to return calls. Someone who claims to be the owner communicates via text message. My last communication was with him today. Still refusing to refund.. These people are crooks.
